Senior Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod slammed Mitt Romney over the GOP challenger’s recently released 2011 tax return.
Axelrod charged Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the return was manipulated to give a false impression of the Romney family’s finances and “boost” the amount Romney paid to the federal government.
“Two months ago, on your own air, he said that anybody who didn’t take the deductions they were owed wasn’t qualified to be president,” Axelrod told host George Stephanopoulos. “Well, I guess he’s not qualified, because that’s exactly what he did last week to try and get his number up from 9 or 10 percent to 14 percent.
“It’s fair to say that a lot of those 47 percent that he was slandering earlier in the week probably pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes overall than he does,” Axelrod said, referring to a leaked campaign video in which Romney wrote off low-income voters as his supporters because they “will vote for the president no matter what.”
Axelrod also questioned Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus’ statement that the Romney campaign has “specifics coming out of our eyeballs.”
“The bigger issue isn’t that he isn’t being straight about his own taxes, the bigger issue is that he isn’t being straight about what he’s going to do to everyone else’s,” he said. “You hear Chairman Priebus say we have specifics coming out of our eyeballs. I don’t think anybody else has seen those specifics.”
Axelrod pointed to Romney’s proposals to cut taxes by $5 trillion and increase defense spending by $2 trillion.

Maybe the MSM can now get Obama to release his academic records? PLEZ... we don’t know where he was born for sure, but at least we ought to be able to see what classes he took and the grades he earned.

“Mr. Rod, Why didn’t Mr. Obama do the same thing? Mayhaps Mr. Obama didn’t give anything to amount to much anyway?”

I wish someone would tell them WHO CARES! They are making ocmplete fools of themselves. They are the most judgemental group I have ever seen. He proved them wrong and he is still being blasted. All it does is makes them look completely ridiculous and petty.
We have a serious global and economic crisis and these people are worried about the motivation of his tax returns which are compliant and legitimate.
It really shows us the lack of interest they have in the well being of our nation.
So what if he did? Hey Axe buddy, are you saying candidates never do anything to try to appeal to voters? That would seem to be the very definition of a candidate?
Romney could have boosted his tax rate by simply lowering his charitable contributions to the same level that he deducted. Then, there would have been no “manipulation”.
But instead, he did both. He made a larger charitable contribution AND he paid more taxes. Both the charities and the government benefited.
Only the Democrats could find something to complain about.
Clearly, Axelrod subscribes to the "nanny, nanny, boo, boo" school of political argument.
Obama’s internal polls must have shown that once Romney released his tax returns that he gained more voters. That is why Hitler’s look alike is reacting like this. They don’t know what their internals are showing them

This is what will play on the alphabet networks and liberal press. It’s the DNC’s talking points memo to their propaganda arm (commonly called “the press”). The truth doesn’t matter to these people.
Warren Buffett says he should pay more taxes but doesn’t. Romney just pays more than he has to and Romney is the bad guy. This is more insanity from the left.

The problem is that Romney said in July “I DON”T PAY MORE than are legally due. I don’t think I’d be QUALIFIED to become President. I think people would want me to follow the law and pay ONLY what the tax code requires. Why in the world would he say that and then turn around and do it?
This group has a habit of accusing the other side of exactly what they themselves are doing. Do the Obama tax returns deserve a second look? I’m sure they would never manipulate their returns to look good to voters/sarc - if they thought it might work.
Alinsky tactics are nothing more than 3rd grade school yard behavior.
