New Jersey voters appear poised to choose President Obama and Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez by a comfortable margin in this fall's elections, according to a poll released Tuesday.
A Monmouth University poll shows Mr. Obama with a lead of 52 percent to 37 percent over Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

When the “Torch” got kicked out of the Senate and there was not enough legal time for the NJ Guv to put up his choice, wasn’t Menendez the choice that was illegally put up?
That was old man Lautenberg. He still hasn’t done anything positive for NJ.
NJ cannot abide serious, old-fashioned religion in a candidate - Southern Baptist, Roman Catholic, Mormon - those awful backward creeds that oppose abortion rights and have an all-male clergy.

I think that was actually when they dug Frank Lautenberg out of his grave and ran him in Torch's place. The move was completely illegal, as the democrats changed their candidate less than 60 or 90 days before the election (or whatever the legal deadline is).
When the democrats got away with that one, pretty much without any real protest or outcry from anyone, I realized just how bad things had gotten. Rule of law? What rule of law?
It is many years later, and the sheer mendacity, the utter brazeness of the lies and distortions, the flagrant inversion of truth and falsehood, the virtual Orwellian thinkspeak that we are subjected to on a daily basis, that is shoveled by democrats and lapped up by the mainsteam media, without so much as a single critical, pbjective thought among their entire collective intelligence - such as it is - is really very disturbing.
I think I remember that the largest self-ID of voters in New Jersey is as independents. I'm technically an "independent", although waterboarding couldn't make me vote for the current crop of Democrats.
The only reason we have a Republican governor and redistricting gave us a 50-50 D-R split of representatives is that the state elections are in off-years and the 'rats won't spend the time, money and resources to drag their voters to the polls for off-year elections. Chalk this state up for Zero, but if maybe 2/3 of the undecideds break for Romney -- which is about what I'd guess -- it would be 55-56% for Obama. That will bode well for Romney elsewhere. Menendez is an awful senator and this will be closer but I think he'll easily win it. New Jersey isn't just blue, it's indigo-blue in presidential elections.

NJ is taking a beating in this economy, bleeding jobs and taxpayers (putting the tax burden on the remnants here); that is why Christie was elected. Things haven’t really improved (though property taxes are somewhat stabilized), and Christie is still popular with those legally allowed to vote. I’m holding out hope that things are bad enough here to put it in play; NJ voters no longer have the luxury of dealing with social issues.
NJ has 10% unemployment! This is how America is being lost. A population that doesn’t care about results, just hand outs and illegal immigration.
Menedez is an obviously dull bulb. They don’t care. Lautenberg is a nasty totally ineffective senator and they reelect him like he’s a great guy.

You are absolutely correct. Even when they have the sense to put a Republican in the Statehouse, they are RINO and PLINOs like Tom Kean, Christine Whitman, and Chris Christie. Each of whom play budget shell games, support no true Conservative causes, and leave the state ready and willing to elect a d-rat.
Spent many years living there, then I moved to Texas. Much better. :)
This just goes to show you how demographics, geography and urbanization play into politics. New Jersey's voting patterns over the years are consistent with the voting patterns of suburban voters all over the U.S. as the nation became more affluent after World War II.

I’m game. That place we went to in 2008 was pretty good, but we need to get more Freepers to show up.
This is ironic since Monmouth County always votes red. We're the exception in a blue state.
