Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) reminds Republicans why they were hoping he would drop out of the U.S. Senate race against incumbent Claire McCaskill (D).
“I think we have a very clear path to victory, and, apparently, Claire McCaskill thinks we do, too, because she was very aggressive at the debate, which was quite different than it was when she ran against Jim Talent,” Akin told the Kansas City Star on Thursday.
“She had a confidence and was much more ladylike [in 2006], but in the debate on Friday she came out swinging, and I think that’s because she feels threatened.”

I wasn’t restarting an argument. It’s been very clear that the people who have bashed Akin the hardest and most consistently dislike him because of his social conservative positions. It’s important to point out that disingenuousness when Akin is getting criticized again over nonsense.
Of course, but blue state feminists would flee in droves.

She’s sharp and she doesn’t shy away from strong opinions even if unpopular.
However, I disagree with her on Akin (and that doesn’t mean that I suport McCaskill ... I don’t). She’s adamant and so am I. Big deal. By the way, she says that Akin’s original comments were a ‘blunder’. That would get you in BIG TROUBLE here on FR. People would have savaged her for saying that.
If you really want to be serious, you'll consider strategy.
Akin's comments about women have brought down what were once high poll numbers.
So why would you think more gender comments would help him?

Perhaps Aiken is a moron, perhaps not. I don't know him personally. I don't think anything he said is wrong, but as to whether 'what he has said' will cause him to lose or win, who can say.
Since I have no other 'evidence' to prove to you that he is not a moron, all I can say is that our opinions differ, and I respect your stance, as I am sure you respect mine.
I think we both want McCaskill to be voted out, so we have something that at least unites us.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'politician'.
Seems that many of the problems with our 'leadership'(or politiicians) is that WINNING the office is what they are GOOD at, but actually being responsible for their job afterward they don't seem to be so good at.
No wonder we have so many problems, our 'elected' leaders look good on the surface, but are either corrupt or incompetent on the inside. Which seems to be pretty much OUR fault.
One might suggest you should read more of the comments before responding. (not a complaint, just a suggestion, because I see it happen all the time, and I have done it myself)
Just because Lorianne says Akin (jeez, I've been spelling his name wrong!) will lose because...yada yada yada, doesn't mean she is FOR McCaskill.
And she might just be right about Akin losing. And might be right about the reason. Time will tell.

I was only demonstrating that there are many other TRUE things that could be said, which would be much worse than his saying she wasn't being ladylike.
The real debate should be, WAS IT TRUE? Why can't we expect a female leader to be 'ladylike' in PUBLIC ?
If someone acts like a brat, should we not consider that in an election ?
Or.... we might fill political positions by random draw from a list of all property owners.
We might get a few bums, perverts, thieves, and drug addicts, but how would that differ from what we have now ?

In 2008 the number of potential voters was 231,229,580 and 132,618,580 voted making it 56.8% of the voting populace.
I can't find the stats I had the other day, but the number of registered DEM voters was about 25% larger than the number of registered REP voters.
All the DEMS have to do is ensure ENOUGH turnout, and they outnumber the REPS even if every REP voted.
Which is why the DEMS spend so much on VOTER TURNOUT. That's why ACORN was so important.

It's pretty obvious she'd be thrilled if he loses, just so she could smile snidely and say "I told you so, nyah, nyah", like a little bratty kid. So like I said....she should put our a McCaskill yard sign and be done with it.
