The latest Fox News poll finds the race for the White House holds steady, with 48 percent of likely voters backing the Obama-Biden ticket and 43 percent backing the Romney-Ryan ticket, if the election were held today. That’s unchanged from two weeks ago, after the Democratic convention.
Romney was preferred by one percentage point (45-44 percent) before the two conventions (August 19-21).
The president’s advantage is within the poll’s margin of sampling error.[SNIP]
In addition, even as Obama’s post-convention bounce holds, about a quarter of voters (24 percent) want the country to “mostly stay on the course it’s on,” while 73 percent say “many policies need to change.” Almost all Republicans (95 percent) and most independents (77 percent) think policies need to change, as do just over half of Democrats (51 percent).

This poll seems reasonable to me.
Obama has taken the lead, but is still under 50% and has not yet closed the deal.
If ony Romney could break through and give people something to vote FOR and be excited about. He is trying, but he still hasn’t got there yet.
You really have got to try to step away from that mirage. It didn't exist in 2008; it sure as hell won't be in play now.
Fox polls are always terrible. Every cycle. Rasmussen has Obama at 46 percent. If you consider that winning, go ahead. This race is tied right now, although Obama has a slight edge electorally at this moment head to head.
Either Romney’s holding back to make his push in October for the win, or his campaign team is inept. He’s raised a ton of money and hasn’t even made a major push yet since the convention. If he comes out strong, he wins. If he sits back like he’s done...and not even trying to win. I have I think the campaign team is comfortable where they sit right now,,or they’d be holding major policy speeches, and making more aggressive moves.
So, I wouldn't dismiss it completely. In a very close election, it might matter.
The key for Romney is to make sure it is indeed very close heading into election day. So far, there are a whole lot of people who just really don't like him.
I lost any faith in a so called ‘Bradley effect’ in 2008. All we kept hearing about was the ‘bradley effect’ from people here and there and ‘pumas’ from hillbuzz etc... All that amounted to SQUAT.
There is little if any of that that will play into this election.

Otherwise the idea of America is dead. And the treasoncrats and the media of this country are to blame and should be held accountable and treated as and for such.

Another option is that Romney is being sabotaged by his campaign the way McCain was by Schmidt.
Republican candidates generally do not open a lead in presidential, congressional or gubernatorial races until the final 3 weeks, when the paid TV assault counteracts the MSM spin.
In other words, people get reminded WHY to vote Republican.
I don’t know. Bush lead Kerry pretty much throughout back in 2004.
I’ll put it this way. While I’d much rather be in Obama’s position than Romney’s, it is still way too soon to write off his chances like the entire MSM is trying to do.
People’s support of Obama is grudging. There are already enough people who trust Romney on the economy. He just desperately needs to come across as more likable.
People, face it. We will have no polling information that is accurate between now and Nov 6th. The pollsters are all in for Obama and will not give legit numbers, so don’t expect it. Just go on your gut feelings. Is America in good shape? Do we have the leadership we need? Do you want America to succeed? If so, ignore the polls and vent your anger at the ballot box Nov 6. I plan to vote with extreme prejudice straight Republican/Conservative for the rest of my “natural born Patriot” life.
Conservatives need to grow a pair.

You’re also forgetting the cardinal rule of American politics: Never threaten violence on white trash.
Lets cut to the chase-Obama 99%, Romney 1%.
Makes perfect sense. They want change, they don’t want Romney. This is because, in their minds, Romney isn’t change.
The big problem is Romney is not being perceived as change, but rather as another machine politician. Even worse, he appears less likable personally than Obama, who is better at faking the everday guy persona, even as he is a hardcore Marxist. Especially with the media’s help.
Unless Romney makes it clear he represents something different, it is not impossible an ignorant, jaded populace will see him as just as much corrupted by big government, nanny state ideology as Obama, and vote for the guy who they think is more likable. “Hey I’m compassionate too!” and “Look, I passed a healthcare law too!” are not going to help. Thuis is the electorate who choose Obama over McCain.
This is the only electoral condition which could elect Romney, and Romney is just the go-along-to-get-along candidate who could just blow it by being nice to the Democrat.
You’d think he’d look at McCain and learn.
You'd think that the GOP country club types would have looked at McCain and learned that they can't win with a candidate like Romney who will never fire up the conservative base. One silver lining to this very dark cloud of Obama's impending re-election is that the GOP might actually be purged of its RINO infestation. I hope and pray that Romney loses and the Karl Rove types are kicked out of the party once and for all.
Absolutely - like saying a pair of shoes is killing your feet then buying 6 more pairs just like it. Can't believe people will keep voting for more pain and humiliation - but then again, there are a lot of loons among us.
