Top-rated talk-radio host Michael Savage announced today he has won his legal battle to free himself from his syndicator, the Talk Radio Network, and can negotiate with a new network.
He said he will not be heard on the radio for some time but will continue to update his website and produce a free daily newsletter.
As WND reported, Savage sued TRN in December 2010 regarding his contract, alleging the network used illegal and unenforceable contract provisions and other strong-armed tactics to intimidate him and force him into accepting a sub-standard agreement.
The federal case was referred to arbitration.
Savages lawyer, Daniel Horowitz, told WND that Savage was awarded money damages and complete freedom from TRN. He declined to disclose the amount but said it was seven figures.
Savage has been given ownership of his show, according to Horowitz, which means he will be off the air until he signs a contract with a new syndicator.

Savage off the air for now, I guess.
Jeff Kuhner has replaced him on my local am station. I was wondering why Savage Nation was not on anymore.

Well that totally sucks.
I personally enjoyed listening to him every day.
We could have used him to help us get through this historic election...
also, I just bought the Savage Radio app through iTunes.
$#!t.
IMHO, Savage can be a bit eccentric at times. But he’s a straight shooter.
I'm simply shattered.
Talk Radio Network?
He plays on a Clear Channel station in Houston via a TRN contract?
He could do satellite or have his own live stream. His ratings are pretty high, so I doubt he’ll be off the air for long.
i am hoping he replaces Mike Church in the morningf- i have had enough of him telling us how stupid we are
Anything that gets that raving quasi-liberal lunatic off the air is fine by me.
I heard Kuhner for a few minutes tonight. I thought he was standing in for Savage.
I stand corrected. That was probably Savage Nation I was hearing. Kuhner has a radio show on WRKO which is in the next big city from my own.
“Clear Channel station in Houston via a TRN contract”
My guess is that sort of thing happens often, depending on how the contracts are written. Probably some sort of swap deal.
I listened to MS daily on my lunch breaks for several years, mostly for lack of anything better.
He was either brilliant or highly misinformed depending on the subject at hand and wholly unwilling to admit his mistakes. But his jealousy over Rush was truly pathetic.
IMO, several regular posters I have crossed keyboards here on FR were more articulate in their positions, made better and deeper points and do what they do with far more ‘flare’ than Savage.
While I won’t say his loss is the proverbial ‘good thing’ as he could be very good at times, I am not saddened by his absence.
Might be difficult to find a new network that will let him work 2 days every other week or so.
I wouldn’t be surprised that he shows up on some localized small station(s) and does more writing. Or he might be using this as an excuse to exit radio, altogether.
God’s speed to you Mr. Savage, please hurry back
Savage must live in dreamland if he thinks any major syndicator is interested in his show. He is so yesterdays news. His show might have had a chance 7 years ago to get a deal with one of the biggies.
I guess wer’e seeing now Savage retiring.
What the crap? He is off air? Until when? He has to get a new carrier now? REALLY bad timing!! Been listening everyday since 2001..when is he gonna be back?
Savage attacked the right to keep and bear arms. He is dead to me for that.
