Obama administration tells contractors again: Don’t issue layoff notices
The Hill ^

The Obama administration issued new guidance intended for defense contractors Friday afternoon, reiterating the administration’s position that the companies should not be issuing layoff notices over sequestration.

The Labor Department issued guidance in July saying it would be “inappropriate” for contractors to issue notices of potential layoffs tied to sequestration cuts. But a few contractors, most notably Lockheed Martin, said they still were considering whether to issue the notices — which would be sent out just days before the November election.

No this is the carrot...

The stick will be that companies that obey the law will be banned from government contracts.

Agreed. But put both together as a whole, it’s still extortion.

Maybe a compromise is possible.

Defense contractors should go ahead and issue the WARN notices, but include a flyer stating that at-risk employees shouldn't worry because Sugar Barry's gonna take care of them.

Don't have to worry about no gas, no rent, Obama's gonna take care of you!

Include contact info for a free phone, too.

This whole fiscal cliff is a set up designed to ruin the Republican party once and for all. When this comes down, the ‘Progressives’ will conveniently be able to blame the fiasco on the Republicans, since President Bush is no longer available. The branding has begun. Note what Patty Murray and Howard Dean are saying. The ‘Progressives’ believe this will usher in a 70 year rule for Democrats.
Think Mexico.

Obama administration tells contractors again: Don’t issue layoff notices, don’t worry about violating the WARN Act, We gotcha covered.

What a bunch of crap.

If you were a contractor, what would you do? I’d do the layoffs. Why? The law requires it.

***Any contractor that doesn’t give the warning notice WILL have to legally cover it out of his pocket ***

Ah for the good old days of the 1940s and 50s. You get up, eat breakfast, kiss the wife, grab your lunch bucket, go to the plant, and find a padlock on the gate.

Then you and all your working companions try to figure out what has happened and what you will do to keep food on the table.

That happened to my Father-in-law.

I don’t put it past oblahblah to write an EO making it illegal to layoff anyone or close a business.

Stop giving them ideas.

From the article:
“But the Friday guidance from the Office of Management and Budget raised the stakes in the dispute, telling contractors that they would be compensated for legal costs if layoffs occur due to contract cancellations under sequestration — but only if the contractors follow the Labor guidance.”

So...it’s not enough that 0bama and his cabal engage in anti-Constitutional, illegal acts. Now, they are enticing government contractors to join their anti-American pogrom of destruction by violating WARN Act requirements, and agreeing to compensate them for costs incurred.

This a$$hole should be in jail, along with his handlers, his czars, his illegal appointees, and all the other progressives who’ve facilitated his destruction of America.

The best bet for contractors is to issue “non-notice” notices. That is, direct all branches of the company to compile confidential lists of non-critical employees, but don’t let anyone know who is non-critical.

If you really want to stir up the employees, make them submit resumes with a one-page statement about why *they* are critical to the company. This should utterly terrify them.

I sense a set-up here. Any contractor that does what the white-hut says, and does NOT issue these notices, will face legal action by the just-us department when sequestration kicks in and they are forced to do layoffs. Just-us will say, “You CAN’T lay anybody off; you didn’t issue the notice in time!”

“Obama can just tell them not to obey a law?”

Well...
Yeah...
Obama is MESSIAH, after all.

Just ask anyone at CNN/NBC/ABC/CBS/MSNBC/NPR/E!/Pacifica/WashPost/NYTimes about this.

...compensated for legal costs if layoffs occur ...

That's OUR money! If we can't afford to pay for the contractor's employees, we sure can't afford to pay for fines and legal costs resulting from the contractors' following odumbo off a cliff.
