The Republicans will massacre each other after Mitt Romney loses
Telegraph - UK ^ | October 2, 2012 | Dan Hodges

Posted on 10/02/2012 11:43:59 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

..............Incredible as it may seem to most outside observers, Mitt Romney is actually what currently passes for a moderate in today’s Republican Party.....

Romney was sold – in the teeth of opposition from a significant section of the Republican grass roots – as the pragmatic choice, the compromise they had to make with ideology to secure victory. And when he loses, those activists are going to go as vengefully crazy as Cain’s Rhode Island Reds.

Anyone who doubts the reaction of the GOP stalwarts to Romney’s impending defeat should bear in mind this single, if chilling, fact. Most of them still think he’s going to win. They genuinely believe the polls are fixed. They seriously think the surge in support for Obama is nothing more than an "MSM" conspiracy. Some of them clearly even believe the good Lord himself will appear in the spin room at the University of Denver next Wednesday.

And when non of these things turn out to be true, the reaction will be truly terrible to behold. It will be like what happens inside one of those doomsday cults the morning after they all wake up and realise the world hasn’t ended after all. First the shock, then the denial, then finally the anger and retribution.

The pinko, Marxist, Obama-loving side of me can’t wait for the fireworks to begin. But there’s another part of me that’s quite disheartened at the thought of the last few moderate elements of a once great political party vanishing beneath a tidal wave of post-election Tea Party hysteria. The majesty of Lincoln, boundless optimism of Reagan, dignity of McCain – swept from the pages of history by a bunch of moon-colonising, carnivorous chicken-touting, hurricane-summoning fruit loops....

If Mitt Romney loses, there will be no further point in the existence of the GOP or America for that matter.

I all ready tweeted Dan that I was picking up his marker on this. After the election Conservatives are going to need to haunt the media types like Dan. These sort of in kind campaign contributions to the Democrats should be career ending mistakes for these people.

If Romney loses, the GOP is toast.

If Romney wins, I think Conservatism may be toast.

I feel no joy.

Far left spin on what is essentially a true observation. If Romney loses Conservatives are DONE with the GOP. There will be a split with a new Conservative Party and a GOP that quietly fades away. Not unlike how the Argentine Junta fell after people realized that at least a bunch of Generals should have been able to win a war.

When America is Ashes, the Republican Party has my permission to die.

The GOP-E is the co-conspirator to the death knell the Progressives will inflict on America.

Time is almost up, The Population is thoroughly distracted, The Demographic shift is leftist favorable, and the Brotherhood's Caliphate preparation are almost complete.

I sure hope Romney can still visit the Kennedy house when the election is over however.

There is too much put on Romney.

He will not veto stuff put on his desk. The conservative strength is growing and must be relied on to pass anything. Conservatives will never get all they want but will be able to shift the balance

The Senate is most important. It must be retaken.

“If Mitt Romney loses, there will be no further point in the existence of the GOP or America for that matter.”

Agree. Any GOP intramural strife will pale in comparison to the actual civil strife that will ensue with an 0bama victory. This proves that the Left is only focused on the horse race and political games; they have no clue as to what the stakes really are.

You could make a clear case for your first statement.

There is no clear case for your second statement.

The Republicans will massacre each other when Romney wins!!!

“IF!!!” and I mean “IF!!!” Mitt Romney doesn't lead the country as a conservative. Cuz if he don't, his RINO GOP-e liberal lite pals are gonna be purged in 2014 and his lying treacherous ass REPLACED in 2016!!!

Wake up and smell the “TEA” (party) President Romney—WE dragged your butt across the finish line and all we want in return is some respect for the US Constitution or it's my tag line.

:)

Did the White House order a cover-up over the murder of Libya's US Ambassador? "................But the real smoking gun is whether the Obama administration was warned in advance that al-Qaeda was planning an attack. A number of Israeli newspapers have suggested that Washington was warned as early as September 4 – a week earlier – that the environment in Benghazi was becoming increasingly hostile and anti-American, while in London the Foreign Office took the decision to withdraw all its consular staff from Benghazi two months before the murders. This decision was based on an intelligence assessment made by MI6 that al-Qaeda was openly operating in the area following a failed assassination attempt on Sir Dominic Asquith, Britain's ambassador to Libya, in June.

It is well known that British intelligence works closely with its counterpart in America, and if MI6 knew al-Qaeda was operating in the Benghazi region, then it is highly likely that the CIA did too.

Suddenly the Administration's "it's nothing to do with us, guv," defence is starting to look rather thin, with potentially disastrous consequences for Mr Obama's re-election prospects."

I won't push the idea too hard, but the media is convinced that Romney is a far right extremist.

If a "far-right extremist" is defined as a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage, pro-socialized medicine, non-Christian -- then I don't think the country is ever going to want a real Conservative again in my lifetime.

I would be happy to be proven wrong, but I'll have to wait at least 4 years to find out. Maybe more.

If Romney wins, he had better pull out every conservative cell in his body to help turn this ship around. If he loses, the gop is done as a political force.

Romney was the only logical choice, given the options.. He was the best looking and in today’s female-dominated election process, catering to females’ inner desires is paramount. Most females don’t vote with their minds.. Their ‘Lady parts’ drive their decisions.
