Bo is doing OK. He's outside right now resting under the house. He did eat some dog food this morning. We may go out to the lake later today.

My brother is back in Houston after spending two and a half weeks here. He's doing much better from the bacterial infection he suffered awhile back.

It's forecast to cool down today. There's a cold front that is supposed to come through sometime today.

Good Morning to all our Canteen FRiends, our Viking Kitties FRiends, the Undead Thread FRiends, and all the ships at sea!

This is Sarge checking in with a Wedding Update for y’all!

It is T-minus-16 days and counting, and everything is just about ready here in the Sunshine State for the big day. The wedding site is ready, the photographers are charged up, the cake is bought, the hall will be decked out, the family and guests will be trickling in on schedule, the honeymoon auite is waiting, and this morning we go get the Marriage License.

The Bride, to the surprise of all, has not had the usual bridal meltdown prior to the nuptials. Sarge and The Bride have been watching endless reruns of “Bridezillas”, pointing and laughing at the antics of the divas.

(After doing this, Sarge insists on detoxing with back-to-back episodes of “Doctor Who”...)

It’s about time I introduce some of the players in our little drama. Sarge’s Demented Sis was going to be Matron of Honor, but had to back out due to employment issues. But the wedding party will still be made up of The Bride’s three kids: Maniac, Brainiac, and JailBait.

Maniac is the oldest boy, flying in to be Best Man. He’s married and has a little girl (Sarge’s soon-to-be Step-Granddaughter... {shudder}). Maniac has a twisted sense of humor, and his personal motto for driving cars is “Drive like you stole it”...

Brainiac is the older girl, a bachelorette still living at home. She’ll be one of the bridesmaids. An active online gamer with a near-genius IQ and wit to match, as well as talent with paint and canvas, Sarge and Brainiac hit it off right from the start.

JailBait is the teenage daughter, and will be bridesmaid as well as sneaky photographer. Sarge and JailBait have had several heated talks about whether she’s “emo”, “goth”, or “scene” (Sarge had to Google the words, as he doesn’t know Teenspeak yet). JailBait has also recently discovered “boys”. Pray for us...

Sorry about this being long-winded, but there’s a lot to share before Wedding Day. You’ll all get pinged to the pics, and the commentary to follow. So until then, Let’s Have Fun!

SOUP FOR THE TROOPS

WELCOME TO THE

(where our troops, allies and their families can refresh themselves)

Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities
Another post and run day.

First, a plug for myself...
Saturday I will be in Collingswood, NJ for their annual book fair.
Several club members and I will be there selling our books.
So, any FReeper near there, come on out.

DC METROLAND WEATHER

~ Today...Rain showers this morning
with some sunshine during the afternoon hours.
Warm. High around 80F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Chance of rain 50%.

~ Tonight...Mainly clear skies. Low 58F. Winds light and variable.

Making Z Zoup
A sprinkle of this...a splash of that...

Of all cheese customs, one of the more unusual
was that of the "groaning cheese."
Years ago in Europe, a prospective father would
nibble on a huge chunk of cheese
while awaiting the home birth of his child.
Instead of pacing outside the bedroom door,
the father would eat from the center
of the cheese until a large hole had been gnawed out.
Later, his newborn infant was ceremoniously
passed through the hole.
(ok, really weird...LOL)

The Angel of the North, Gateshead, UK,
with a wingspan of 177 feet (54 m),
is the largest sculpture of an angel in the world.

It is estimated that 60 percent of home smoke detectors
in use do not work because they don't have a battery in them
or the battery in the detector no longer has any potency.
(Check your batteries)

Country comedienne Minnie Pearl
always wore a hat with a price tag
hanging from it when she performed.
The amount ascribed on the price tag was $1.98.

In 1860, the first pure food and drug act became law in Great Britain.

The FR Canteen is ALWAYS

I've got to go for my morning walk.
But, I'll check pings on my return.
Please stay right where you are.
Keep the troops entertained and the Canteen clean...
Cause...if you don't...I'll tell Ma!

REMEMBER THEM ~ DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
