With Biden Up Next to Debate, Obama’s Aides Plot Comeback
New York Times ^ | October 7, 2012 | PETER BAKER and TRIP GABRIEL

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s campaign is working feverishly to restore its momentum after a lackluster debate performance last week, an effort that began with a conference call 10 minutes before the debate even ended and led to new advertisements, a rewritten stump speech, a carefully timed leak and a reversal of months-old strategy.

Perhaps most important as the president’s team struggles to put his campaign back on track is a renewed effort to win the three remaining debates, starting with Thursday’s face-off between Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Representative Paul D. Ryan. Mr. Biden began traveling to a Delaware hotel on Sunday for three days of debate camp.

Under the tutelage of David Axelrod, the president’s chief strategist who is personally overseeing the preparations, Mr. Biden will be counseled on how to avoid Mr. Obama’s mistakes and even correct them with a more aggressive prosecution of the Republican ticket. Mr. Axelrod’s involvement highlights the stakes the Obama campaign places on the debate, and Mr. Biden has been reading “Young Guns,” the book co-written by Mr. Ryan, and practicing attack lines that Mr. Obama avoided.

Ryan lost his father suddenly when he was 16 so I am sure Paul Ryan can let Joe he knows the pain of losing a loved one in the blink of an eye.

” - - - Mr. Obama made clear to advisers that he was not happy about debating Mr. Romney, whom he views with disdain. It was something to endure, rather than an opportunity, aides said.”

This quote from the NYT article exposes Obama’s arrogance.

Biden will try to compensate for Obama on this topic.

While Biden is off on that wrong track, Ryan needs to attack the Obama-Biden team on their irresponsible financial stewardship.

No surprise, Old Mad dog joeBiden is going in for the kill.
We will see if the boy wonder budget wiz kid is prepared for 2 hours of attacks on Romney and himself.

This will be a completely different show than that first debate. If Ryan stays on offensive we will know he won, if Biden draws him off to mostly defense then it wont be good, as Romney isnt the failed POTUS.
Although I can predict 99.9% posters on this site will say that Ryan won even if they miss the debate :)

Mr. Biden has been reading “Young Guns,”

More likely Slo Joe's been watching the movie over and over and over again, wondering if that's the same guy who played the jock in Breakfast Club.

Neither Romney or Ryan are doing this as naive schoolboys.

They took their debate prep seriously and have been on it for weeks.

He isn’t going in cold. I hope he is confident!

Exactly. The NY Daily News has already, in yesterday’s paper, called Ryan and Biden both bumblers. And this is a newspaper that people actually pay money for.

The vice president “can go hard on policy.

Even a billion little blue pills will not help him against Paul Ryan.

Romney won. You know how we know?? All the Democrat whining about how unfair the moderator was, for days. And the MSM asking ‘what happened?’. Whining is not winning it is losing.

My prediction for the VP debate:

They are coaching Biden to go over the top with attacks. He will say something like “You want to put America in chains” or “You really are wiling to push senior citizens over the cliff.”

This will lead Ryan into a terse statement that the Democrat party is all about rhetoric because their last four years has had no substance. I hope that Ryan takes this moment to “go Gingrich” on Biden.

Biden is a Sagittarius, so am I, he is a few years older than me, I doubt he has a very flexible memory, I do know what can addle me and that is someone who rambles on and on with technical numbers, I’ll grow bored immediately, or with my bad hearing I’ll interpret a sentence incorrectly.

Hey, some Leos are like that too. As I once lamented some years ago on this very forum,

"My detailed explanation had the unfortunate side effect of making the subject completely incomprehensible."

I am sure he wont repeat the chains comment but I can hear “the senior citizens over the cliff” comment coming from him. Then Ryan responds with "You are the ones who stole medicare funds to pay..."

This will be a good test of Ryan.

RE :You work for Hannity or Romney?
....Neither.

there is no other reason to just post informationless talking points

Here's an example :"Ryan won game over. Romney won game over. Dont believe anything you see or hear. the race is over. the debates are over. End of discussion"

Even though Joe is a well-known gaffe machine, as others have pointed out he's also an experienced debater, not to mention an accomplished BS-er.

I agree with you. Biden may be an idiot, but he's an experienced idiot. Not like our amateur president.

Biden is sort of like an evil clown - he’s a LOT more dangerous than he initially appears.
Biden will lie his @$$ off if he is allowed to get away with it. Ryan needs to have the facts at his fingertips and, most importantly, CALL HIM on every lie. Ryan needs to go facts, figures, and NO MERCY.
