What caused Obama’s poor debate performance?
MSNBC: Up With Chris Hayes ^ | October 7, 2012 | John McWhorter

Posted on 10/09/2012 10:18:28 AM PDT by Seizethecarp

(@ 4:05) I can't make sense out of it. It's been said in some places and no, not by me that obama actually, this has been said by people that maybe he's not very bright. The other night I actually wondered what's wrong with him. I don't think it's because he's afraid to be an angry black man to say the things you were talking about would not have looked angry, just intelligence. I suspect he's used to being riding on that charisma of his. I think he thought standing there and being his larger than life self would take care of things.

This statement from the transcript is by the African-American panel member!

The white female Salon writer next to him just about throws up in her mouth when he says this. Classic!

Sarah Palin got better treatment from the progressive LSM than Barry has received for his debate performance!

RE: “Maybe he’s just not that bright”

Took them 4 YEARS and 5 additional trillion dollars in debt to find out this.

If he were so bright, why is he hiding his college transcript records?

I think SNL is going to be worth watching now that they have finally found their angle on Obama.

Maybe BJ is channeling his inner Biden.

Bright enough for his dad to call him “son.”

That is to say, not the sharpest tool in the shed!

I think it’s entirely possible he wants to lose. It seems apparent to many insiders he hates the job. Rumor is that the Mooch pushed him for a 2nd term because ‘he owes it to the people who elected him firsttime.’ So he runs, a little half-hearted, and then if he loses, he retires to a place in hawaii.

PS: I have no truck for Maher, but can you IMAGINE donating a million dineros to a political candidate— only to see the guy look sullen, angry, and stoned (and sound as stupid as ever) in the national debate?

Maher would have done a whole lot better to just put his million bucks on any pony running at the race track (he could use Obama’s fake social security number to select the horse)

“Maybe he’s just not that bright”

But we all KNEW that a long time ago!

Once the MSM behaved with the minimum of bias, and the teleprompter safety net was gone....Uhhh... yea... “O” ain’t that bright!

“The white female Salon writer next to him just about throws up in her mouth when he says this. Classic! “

That was hysterical. Her mouth was gaping open in shock when he said others were saying Obama wasn’t that bright.

Hahahaha.

McWhorter is no joke.

He could have taken the easy route and become Chairman of the African Diaspora Studies Department at some SUNY or UC campus, stopped writing and researching, and just collected checks and held court.

Instead, he's a serious linguist who has done new work in his field. He is, by disposition, a man of the left and if liberals ignore him they do so at their peril.

So, I hope they do.

He’s certainly not as told by his worshippers. The man can’t answer a serious question without lying, so when the chips were down, he folded like a house of cards. Blame O’s administration, and the LSM for his pathetic performance.
Those in power don’t care if he’s white/black/green/martian/god/satan/Hitler, etc. they want this man to win for power and money to their party, nothing more, nothing less.

It’s not that he’s not that bright. He’s fairly intelligent when compared to the rest of the population.

The problem comes in when he obfuscates his crap product.

It sucks, bottom line.

He can’t make the case for a marginal solution, it just doesn’t work and can’t be sold on a sound bite or spread sheet.

the only way he can sell it is by disguise and using extreme superlatives that incite emotions of possibilities.

That’s possibilities, not hope that is realistic.

IMO the primary variables are/were these:

- intellectually 0 is in over his head, has been all along. The multilayers of protection he’s enjoyed weren’t there during the “debate”

- Like most celebrities, he has been shielded and pampered by a coterie of sycophants and yes men. All the while they are telling him he’s the political equivalent of the second coming, that when he coughs it is a brilliant intellectual uttering.

- every substandard thing he has said or done has been passed off as either untrue or someone else’s fault. He’s not been held accountable for *anything*.

- all of the above has (naturally) instilled in him a huge ego and level of narcissism and hubris. Ipso facto, “I’ve never done anything less than great, I’ve never made any mistakes, everyone admires me, so it is only logical that I can and will do no wrong.”

- He though he could stroll on stage and his overwhelming victory would just happen.

Remember, this man has not had a genuine press conference since (I believe) June. He’s never seriously been grilled and forced to defend his ideas or policies. Such as they are.

"Stupid, crooked and high is no way to go through life, Obama." More serious than his low wattage is his lack of moral character. Most of us in similar circumstances would say, "I didn't do well. I'll do better next time." That's not Zero's style though. Here's his style: He's as crazy as a bedbug.
