The Grieving Widow Behind Romney's Personal Story
ABC News ^ | 10 Oct 2012 | EMILY FRIEDMAN

Posted on 10/10/2012 9:56:36 AM PDT by mandaladon

Jane Horton began crying on the other end of the phone when she learned that Mitt Romney had been using the story of her husband, Chris Horton, who was killed in Afghanistan, as a part of his stump speech.

"Wow," the 26-year-old said. "I had no idea.

"To be honest, I've been through a lot and I'm not a super emotional person but it brings me to tears," Horton said in an interview with ABC News, after being informed of her husband's newfound spot on the national stage. "Not that he's telling my story, but that he's telling my husband's story, it means the world to me.

"One of the last things my husband said to me before he was killed, when I would ask him, 'Chris, what do you need over there? What can I send you?' he said, 'I need a new president,'" Horton recalled.

Chris Horton, who was acting as a combat sniper in the Oklahoma National Guard, was killed when he and several others were ambushed in Paktya, Afghanistan, in September 2011. When he was buried, protestors from the Westboro Baptist Church turned up at his funeral, and as Romney now tells it to crowds of thousands, his wife wasn't angry.

"She was asked what do you think of that and this is the quote she said this, 'Chris died for them to be able to protest,'" Romney said at a rally last weekend in St. Petersburg, Fla. "This is quite a nation we live in. There are some extraordinary people."

Indeed , we all need a new President.

It’s too bad that so many troops will not get to vote again this year because Democrats will not send them their absentee ballots in time.

"I didn't want to meet him because he could be the next president, I wanted to meet him to thank him for all of his time, all the time he took to care about me and hand write me twice," Horton explained. ............I wonder what the nasty libs will say about this.

I’ve got to think that the MSM is beginning to see that ObaMao’s re-election is not so inevitable after all. And they would like to keep their favored seats near the front of the room at future white house press conferences.

How long would it take to set up a secure online voting site strictly for use by those military members who are about to become disenfranchised by Obama and his minions. In this age of instant communication there is NO excuse for these brave soldiers to lose their right to vote. NONE!

Ding ding ding ding ding....we have a winner. The presstitutes and media whores are now falling over themselves to be in the good graces of our next President. Scour the internet and Boston Globe and even the NY Slimes has flattering pieces on Romney or hit pieces on Omoron.

I was also surprised that PBS publicly asked that Obama quit using Big Bird in its campaigning. Why didn’t they do it privately?

Some lucrative merchandising was about to take a serious hit if they did not protest loudly and fast.

“Your answer is in this article”

I understand about Ms. Horton’s story, whose husband was killed in Afghanistan,, but my response was in the thread about Mrs. Doherty’s comments whose son was killed in Benghazi. Did Romney mention Doherty specifically on the stump, or just in general? Or,is Mrs Doherty making a preemptive strike so that he doesn’t mention him because she is an Obot?

I don't think he named him specifically but I might be wrong.

I would suppose that could be done in a day if they really wanted to, but the fact is the same ones who didn’t send out the absentee ballots don’t want the military voting.
