ORLANDO -- A new, exclusive News 13 Florida Decides Poll shows a new leader in the presidential race and a significant shakeup of opinions among Floridians, with potential national ramifications.
The latest results, released Thursday, show Republican Mitt Romney with a 7-point lead over President Barack Obama.
When asked which ticket would get their vote if the general election were held today, 51 percent of the 800 registered Florida voters polled picked Romney, with 44 percent choosing Obama.

This is huge, and confirms what Suffolk has been saying.
Registered voters? That means with likely voters, it is possibly even WORSE for Obama. Wow...
Any historical info. on the accuracy of this poll?
November 6, you are going to be one hell of an interesting night.
good news is good. :)
Wonderful news!
Run like you are 20 points down all the way to the election!
It was conducted by Mason-Dixon a very reputable company.
OK good, Mason-Dixon is a reliable poll. This is great news.
It does. If you look at the polls, FL has always been Romney’s strongest state (of the 4 - FL, OH, VA, CO). So I think this is a normal trend.
I would bet that FL is no longer seriously considered in the game by Obama. It’s going to come down to VA, OH and CO. Romney has the edge in two and closing gap quick in OH.
We can do this!
I forget which esteemed Freeper said it, but the gist was “voters were looking for any reason to disassociate themselves from Obama.” And the first debate gave them permission to leave the camp of white guilt and finally vote their conscience. We are seeing it all over, everywhere, each day more and more.
If the news is this good in FL and supposedly NC too then Romney has to be ahead a little in OH, don’t you think?
Yes I sure hope so.
I think Romney is buidling toward a major win here in 4 weeks. At this point, PA, MI, and WI are all in serious jeporady of going Romney. At this point, Romney has Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Indiana back. Last few Colorado polls looks like Romney is starting to build a consistent 2-3 point lead there as well. And I truly believe OH will go Romney by 5-7 points in the end.
52/47 Romney and 310+ EVs
I predicted 7 point win the night of the debate. Does FR have a poll taking capability?
There is a large silent segment of potential voters who wanted to see if Mitt would be acceptable. For a lot, that one debate answered the question “yes.” If Mitt plasters Barack twice, the pebbles are nigh likely to become an avalanche.
Won't last long. State Run Media should be calling the election for Obama right after New Hampshire votes, and tell the Republicans not to bother going to the polls.
Come on Ohio!
I hope your predictions will happen!
