Virginia Poll: Romney Leads By 7 Romney 51% Obama 44%)
Breitbart ^ | 10/12/2012 | Tony Lee

Mitt Romney has taken a commanding 7-point lead over President Barack Obama in another Virginia poll.

According to a McLaughlin & Associates poll that had an R+.02 sample, Romney leads Obama in Virginia 51%-44%.

Among independents, Romney beats Obama by 11 points, 50%-39%.

If these numbers hold for Romney, Romney could be free to expand the electoral map and more aggressively make plays for states like Michigan and Pennsylvania that were considered "reaches" just two weeks ago.

In addition, this poll, which has Romney leading by double-digits among independents and has a sample that is more reflective of what the turnout will be in November than other polls, may be a more accurate snapshot of Virginia's electorate than other mainstream media polls.

Rasmussen has R&R up over 50 in FL too! He’s only got them leading by 1 in the national numbers...maybe he relies too heavily on CA and NY for his national poll.

This is very welcome news.

With VA and FL looking good, it’s time to concentrate on Ohio. With these three states in his favor, Romney has a clear path to victory.

For “extra insurance”, he ought to keep fighting hard in Colorado (a surprise turnaround), Wisconsin, and New Hampshire...

From what I see here in Illinois,I wouldn’t be surprised if Romney takes Illinois. It will be close but I believe possible.

I really do believe that Romney was always ahead in VA, but now its just too big a lead to deny and cover up.

poll that had an R+.02 sample

With all the Fedzilla workers in NOVA, can we even muster an R+ anything margin in the state anymore?

OH isn't going to go to Obama... little of the Rust Belt will... Obama has spit on catholics and white working class, guess where those people live and breath? The south, and the rust belt!

I've lived in swpa for 26 years, and I am in Ohio often as well... I can tell you this about PA and OHIO.. If PA is within a few points when it has PHILLY hugely slanting its tilt left... Ohio is safe as can be. Without Philly, PA and OH are nearly identical in a lot of political aspects. Philly though is a huge slant left that PA has to deal with, easily 5 - 8 points of democratic slant overall. So if PA is polling with Obama at a lead of less than 5, Ohio is safely going to go to the Romney.

You could/can use a process of analysis to see that Romney was likely to win FL, VA, MO, IND and NC. Obama had the perfect storm of enthusiasm, a bad candidate on the other side, a MSM going crazy for him and the financial mess. With all THAT he barely won NC, IND and FL.

So with a bad economy, less motivation to vote and an opposition who WANTS to vote and Romney doing pretty well as a candidate, there was little logic to suggest Obama would win NC, IND and FL again. It also is a great indicator for VA, but there is the demographic change going on there and some questions about it changing. Still, Romney is a good candidate to take it back given his appeal to indies.

So I never understood the idea put forth that Obama was the favorite in FL and VA, and even had a prayer in NC. NC was a once in a generation perfect storm.....though admittedly it is changing due to demographics/migration....it isn’t changing THAT much yet.

So that puts everything back in the same old states of Ohio, Colorado, Nevada....with Iowa, Wisconsin and New Hampshire being Romney’s version of Obama winning Fl, Indiana and NC.

The ads into Southwest Virginia are broadcast from East Tennessee....... Tuesday and Wednesday nights they were 4 or 5 to 1 by Romney and our PACS.

The Obama ad is very stale about Romney being rich

They have given up on Southwest Virginia that kicked out the democrat congressman in 2010

Way to go, Virginia!

Keep the ground game going locals, and let the national campaign move resources elsewhere.

I hope you're right. Sabato was just in Cavuto and he has Ohio as lean Obama. He doesn't have it as a “toss up”?
