I haven’t watched a TV show since Home Improvement with Tim the Toolman. It seems everything in the 15 years is pure drek, ever since the low-brow, low-budget “reality” TV concept was invented.

I’ve had the Walking Dead on most of the day till the Tiger/Yankee game started.

Since TV became a mainstream form of entertainment, post-apocalyptic programs have been a money maker regardless the political atmosphere.

The earlier thread you posted was pulled by Admin-Mod as author, and content not wanted at Free Republic.

The author had a bit of a clash with the proprietor of this site awhile back, and was banned, and then wrote a really nasty column about the proprietor, and the site.

This one will probably get pulled as well.

Walking Dead Season Premiere tomorrow night! AMC please don’t disappoint me! (Don’t kill Lori!) <~ Me hoping for this will probably mean she’ll be the first to go. :(

And the Yankees are playing like The Walking Dead. They loaded the bases three times and then the virus hit! :( <~ (Me, you maybe not so much!)

IB4TZ!

These shows are not new. I remember a made-for-TV movie WHERE HAVE ALL THE PEOPLE GONE? years ago about a man who took his kids camping. Then a sun flares hit and wiped out most people who turned to dust and washed away in the rains.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072400/

The father and teens are left to meet others who survived and learn to live together. The Moms are killed by the flare so they won’t get in the way of being a good story.

Another one was about a comet that does the same thing to most people leaving a few to survive, fight zombies and find a way to survive while the dead turn into dust and wash away in the rain again.
NIGHT OF THE COMET is such a film.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087799/

This film is remembered for the two girls killing zombies with mac-11 submachine pistols when the younger girl makes the mention that ..”Daddy would have given us UZIs!”

These kid of stories have been around for a long time.

Examples:
Day of The Triffids:
I Am Legend (the early one with Vincent Price killing the zombies)
The Omega Man (A take off of the I Am Legend story):
And there are more.
