Obama is best choice for president
Winston-Salem Journal ^ | October 14, 2012 | Editorial

Posted on 10/14/2012 9:03:45 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Americans have a clear choice between two presidential candidates with starkly different ideas for spurring the economy, providing for the health of our people, defending our interests abroad, educating our children and protecting our environment. We believe that President Barack Obama’s progress on these issues merits him a second term in the White House.

Four years ago on this page, we endorsed Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona over Obama. We wrote that we were impressed with Obama, but McCain would “bring the Iraq war to a successful conclusion, work to end American dependence on foreign oil, reduce America's output of climate-changing gases and begin the rebuilding of our economy.”

The Democratic president has done all those things and more. He is calm under pressure and courageous in standing up for the rights of all Americans, including the poor, veterans, the elderly, women, gays and immigrants. In contrast, we’ve sometimes found it hard in the last few weeks to tell just what Obama’s challenger, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, really stands for.

Obama has a keen vision that he has worked hard to achieve, against considerable obstacles and often courageously. But the goal is in sight: An America respected worldwide as much for its prosperity as its defense of liberty and justice.

The Journal editorial board endorses Barack Obama for president.

Translation “We don’t want to be called racists, and since nobody reads our birdcage liner anyway, we figure that if we endorse the King of Kenya, we might have them throw a bone or two our way in advertising dollars”.

That paper is a disgrace to North Carolina.

I once wrote a letter to the editor criticizing Clinton and got a personal reply back from the editor.

That reply was as abusive as anything one would get from Axelrod.

Here is a contradiction in this op-ed.

He showed strong leadership in ordering the successful raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

But

Some of Romney’s foreign-policy advisers are the former Bush neo-conservatives who got us into the unnecessary Iraq war.

From "Sorry Bush... Obama's Gutsy Decision Got Osama" (don't be put off by the title, it's sarcasm), "It was Bush's decision to invade Iraq which lead to the capture of several al-Qaida operatives."

We cannot yet say who will win the Presidential election. But, we can say with certainty who will lose: the press. They have become a laughingstock that will accelerate the demise of their corrupt industry. It will be a good riddance.

Delusional is right. In what universe do some people reside? On path to what? How much actual data has to be ignored to think we are on course for anything but complete collapse and dire consequences for the American people? At no time as Obama or the Democratic Party shown any interest in addressing any of these critical problems. They are piling on top trillions in new spending, ever bigger government and massive new government dependency...all the things at the heat of our decline.
