The Mystery of Benghazi
New York Times ^ | October 13, 2012 | By ROSS DOUTHAT

Posted on 10/14/2012 4:37:21 PM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

TWENTY-FOUR hours after the American compound in Benghazi was attacked and our ambassador murdered, the tragedy seemed more likely to help President Obama’s re-election campaign than to damage it.

The White House already enjoyed more public credibility on foreign policy than on almost any other issue. When Mitt Romney reacted to the attack with a partisan broadside, portraying a news release sent out by the Cairo embassy before any violence began as a White House apology to the attackers, the president’s path forward seemed clear. He would be disciplined and careful, show anger and steel but also coolness under pressure, and let the rally-round-the-flag effect do its natural work.

What happened instead was very strange.

Why are the media so stupid. o’bidens care more about the world than America. And now through that policy they’ve given 20,000 anti-aircraft missiles to al qaeda. And then slimes is puzzled by o’bidens’ cover-up?

The article includes a random act of journalism, burried in the eleventh paragraph:

“Perhaps, then, the real explanation for the White House’s anxiety about calling the embassy attack an act of terror has less to do with the “who” than with the “where.” This wasn’t Al Qaeda striking just anywhere: it was Al Qaeda striking in Libya, a country where the Obama White House launched a not-precisely-constitutional military intervention with a not-precisely-clear connection to the national interest.”

The Muslim loving O is much more angry @ Romney than he has ever been toward any terrorist.
Maybe he’ll invite the Benghazi terrorists to a beer summit....IN HELL

everybody here, including myself, didn’t need a CIA investigation about something that happened on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 to draw a conclusion.

the thought that it was brought on by an obscure video was completely stupid.

and was what was more stupid is our muslim president presented that stupid idea to incite the islam morons to cause even more riots and death.

that is a crime.

blessings, bobo

The whole thing was just an October Surprise set-up. Stevens was to be held hostage. The other three were of no consequence to the administration. Alive and free, alive and held hostage or dead, it didn't matter. Zer0 wanted to be seen coming to the rescue just as Jesse Jackson got to do with a captured Navy pilot in Lebanon back in the 80’s....but it all went bad....while the administration watched....the ambassador was murdered and ALL the different slimeballs involved started scurrying about to cover their asses as the WH tried to have a blanket excuse- the video- cover them all.

That 47% figure is hanging up double on Drudge right now. Seems to me Romney was dead on.

While I have no proof (thus my ‘jmho’ sign-off) I find this to be the simplest explaination for all the confusion...occam’s razor.

A weak administration and a highly compliant media.

It’s the missiles. Obama and Hillary touched off the fuse in Libya and now it has blown up in their faces. Those two former SEALs were looking for the missing missiles. They are now dead. Our secret documents in Benghazi have been compromised. Al-Qaeda just handed the Obama administration a big crap sandwich. And anybody but the rookies running the administration could see it coming. This whole debacle makes Watergate look like a whoopee cushion joke. We have dead Americans. We have dead security force members (whatever nationality they were), we have missing missiles because Obama and Hillary wanted to harvest an Arab Spring, we have seriously degraded intelligence capabilities in Libya, we look like dipsticks to the world, and we have a President Vice-President Director of the CIA Secretary of Defense Secretary of State and UN Ambassador lieing to us to try and save their sorry hides from this mess they’ve created. Folks, this is the Democrat party in all their glory.

Both the Democrat spokespeople (like Cutter) and the MSM are deliberately misrepresenting what Romney said on Sept. 11. He was reacting to the administration’s creven response to the demonstrations in Cairo, not to the attack that killed the four Americans in Libya which was later on the same day.

Typo in that last post—”creven” should have been “craven.”

I agree, it’s the only plausible scenario of what really happened.

But even this seems insufficient to explain the White House’s Benghazi blundering.

Blundering? Blundering? HA. How about out and out lie. Even better Obama lied to the New York Times - and as the knee pad boys always do, they swallowed the lie. Now they want to call it 'blundering'. Is that a hoot or what?

Hey, you New York Times 'we suck more' boys - get your knee pads out - Obama's not through lying to you....

HA. How about out and out lying. Even better Obama lied to the New York Times - and as the knee pad boys always do, they swallowed the lie. And passed the lie on for him - taking their almost nonexistent credibility a little more... And they want to call it 'blundering'? Is that a hoot or what?

Hey, you New York Times 'we suck more' boys - get your knee pads out - Obama's not through lying to you....

Grow up Ross Douthat - Obama's playing you and your friends for fools... again.

How fallen are the great; now Times columnists get to lick the crumbs left by Matt Drudge and Rush Limbaugh from the newsroom floor.

Great turn of phrase.
