IRVINE – The tents have folded. The handmade signs denouncing the 1 percent are tucked away in the garage.

But the 50 or so activists who gathered in the shade of a gazebo at Bill Barber Community Park on Sunday brought their same passionate spirit to a picnic potluck marking the one-year anniversary of Occupy Orange County CA.

They wiggled their "spirit fingers" – silent applause – as speakers discussed some of the state propositions in the upcoming November election.

They joined members of the Local Vocal Peace Choir in singing protest songs that included Bob Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind."

Potty-mouth bolsheviks and guttersnipes.

Lizardbreath Warren claims to be their mentor.

And she’s a “one-percenter”.

Nope, nothing partisan at all about this article. Completely unbiased and neutral. Uh-huh. Really, it is!

Oh, and I am a kangaroo with a computer posting from Mars.

"They wiggled their "spirit fingers" – silent applause –" WTF is that about?

Traditional approval mechanisms such as clapping or whistling draw attention to the user and imply that they are somehow in a position to pass judgment on the speaker. Additionally, the noise generated impedes the ability of the speaker to keep their train of thought and of the audience to concentrate on what is being said. Listeners signify their approval by wriggling their fingers pointed up in a move called, "uptwinkles" and their disagreement by means of an action; inexplicably called, "downtwinkles". Most significantly, use of these devices herald the users membership in a class closely related to certain feminine hygiene products.
