Will there be any consequences for Secretary Clinton accepting responsibility for Benghazi attack?
American Thinker ^ | 10/16/2012 | Bruce Johnson

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accepted responsibility for Benghazi security deficiencies. Now, who accepts the consequences of responsibility? And what of the disinformation campaign?

Accepting responsibility is only step one. The consequences of failure come second.

Will the second part ever happen? No.

Will Hillary resign? No. Will Hillary suffer any consequence for accepting the "responsibility" for under manning our hottest embassy situation on the 9/11 anniversary? Will she accept responsibilities for the deaths that ensued after requests for additional security? No. Will she be held on misleading the nation as to the causes of the attack. No. This is nothing more than an uncomfortable admission which serves as a diversion.

Will Obama be held for his non attendance of intelligence briefings the week prior to 9/11? Or for flying to Las Vegas on 9/12 for a fund raiser? No. Hillary took the bullet.

This is a vapid "end of story" empty acquiescence. A "Please media, go away", declaration and request. What is necessary now is the consequence of poor decision making and department control which cost lives out there in the "big game". What is necessary is the revelation of who knew what and when. Just like Fast and Furious, somehow "who knew" never comes out. This is political bargaining behind the scenes. We have this on you, and now you will march to our music. It seems to be a more valuable bobble to have in one's political war chest, than to bring to sunlight the facts and the circumstances.

In this mode, politicians all appear to have a mutual understanding amongst themselves. Kinda like, "we are all in the same actor's guild, we all make mistakes". And maybe that is the BIG problem in the American political system.

The President is ultimately responsible for what happens on his watch. As Clint would say “ when you can’t do your job Mr President we have to let you go”.

The media doesn’t allow republicans to pull off political maneuvers like this. What on earth does Hilary “taking responsibility” have to do with what actually happened, both before and after the attack?

I read this in a different light: Hitlery is P.I.S.T. and yes there will be h.e.l.l. to pay for being thrown under the bus. I bet Slick Willy is shaking and he's not even in trouble this time.

It's easier for Hitlery to swallow a camel than to admit she was at fault.

That's right.

Hiding behind Hillary's Mao Pants (wide as they are) does not provide adequate cover.

Obama is top dog, and Hillary works for him. He owns this foreign policy disaster.

Funny you should mention Nixon, who, of all people came to understand it's as much about the cover-up, as it is the crime!

Nixon at least was trying to get to the bottom of a communist plot to undermine the war effort in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Obama's buddies, Ayers, Dohrn, other like-mindeds, were on the side of the North Vietnamese communists.

At least hillary is being more presidential than the president......................Hillary’s admission makes Obama look really bad, especially to women paying mind.

She effed up and four Americans are dead. Of course she won't resign, not yet anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if she ran for president again at some point (and won!).

An unfortunately large percentage of our fellow American voters are also effed up.

Here’s what I think will happen. By taking responsibility out loud and in public, Hillary is offering a contrast between herself and O-blame-a. Maybe she did a little pollig of her own and found out how many Americans are on to his blame game.

By going public with this, she has taken the “high road”, such as it is, and if she happens to resign over this just before the election, she damages Obama AND maintains her “integrity”.

Actually, I think this was the best move she could have made under the circumstances. The ball is definitely in Obama’s court. What’s he going to do now? Jump in front of a camera and say, “Me, too! I take responsibility, too!” Nope. He’d look like even a bigger idiot and loser.

An earlier thread hinted that Huma may no longer be ... "available"

She's left with BOB.

She screwed up and got the ambassador killed. She has to go.

As much as I agree, I don't think this should get bambi off the hook - he appointed her, after all.

The buck stops with Obama.

Reno took orders from Hillary. Reno took the fall because as AG she had immunity. Hillary as FL didn’t.

Good image. I was going to go with "pass through the eye of a needle," myself.

This will fall under the usual forms of accepting responsibility by most high officials: responsible for everything in general, but nothing in particular (the ‘security people’ made the decisions).
