Reporters applaud Obama's slam on Romney's wealth

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — The room set aside for reporters to watch Tuesday night's debate erupted into applause after President Obama ridiculed the size of Mitt Romney's personal wealth.

Mr. Romney was trying to make the point that both his and Mr. Obama's investment funds probably include investments in China — something the president has attacked Mr. Romney for.

"Mr. President, have you looked at your pension?" Mr. Romney said.

"You know, I don't look at my pension. It's not as big as yours, so it — it doesn't take as long," Mr. Obama retorted. His reply prompted laughter in the debate hall where the two men were squaring off — but across the way in the separate room where the press was stationed, a brief round of applause broke out.

That was a good comeback for obama. But, Mitt should have came back with “Mine’s bigger because I worked harder to get it. You’ll be getting most of your from the taxpayer.”

The GOP should ask us little people out here what they need to say.

My grandpa used to have that old “poverty sucks” poster in his basement. I rather agree.

Thank you. Let’s add in this.

Romney: “You know Barack, I thought I was good, but one of these days you’ll have to remind me how you made your millions from being a Community Organizer.”

When Obama says, “Well, I wrote a book.”

Romney says, “Yes, I’d imagine there must be millions of people out there wanting to know what a no account community organizer’s life was like. You must have a really great publisher, and sales management team.”

Romney continues: “Who did buy the lion’s share of those books Barack? The public would like to know.”

I always bear in mind that love of money being the root of evil, camels passing through the eye of a needle, etc. was from a civilization wherein the rich were more likely to have gotten that way from slave driving and hitting people on the head with clubs than running a small business.

Books that no one read.

They were just a indirect payoff.

If Romney wins this election, he will have pulled the biggest upset since Harry Truman won in 1950 or so. This is the most stacked election I have seen in my over 60 years on this planet. The republican is running against a non-citizen sitting president, who lies through his muslin teeth. He has the complete backing of the entire US press corps. He has the complete backing of foreign communist interest. He has the complete backing of nearly 50% of Americans who are too stinking lazy to work for a living and sit on their lazy butts getting working peoples money. He has the complete backing of millions and millions of illegals who will be allowed to vote because states do not check to see if the voter is a citizen or not.

Yup, Romney is really a 800 to 1 shot to win with this stacked deck. If he pulls it off, and I think it will be close, the Obama mafia will riot and this is Obama's perfect storm to declare martial law to take back the streets. This allows Obama to suspend the Constitution, the laws of states, and the second amendment to take away private guns. This is what he is waiting on. His private army will hit the streets in the big cities to riot. The black panther type mobs from Philly and such will riot. LA, Chicago, NY, LA, Philly, Houston, Atlanta, and DC will burn. Then comes in the 82d Airborne Div to take back and control the streets along with the National Guard and local police forces. Get prepared folks. This is not going to be over for months and months unless Romney can actually beat this guy by enough votes to prove to the nation he actually won. A 50.1 to 49.9 will be riot city. He needs a 55 to 45% and at least 25 electoral vote win to actually win.

"Thou shalt not covet."

No kidding, my take exactly

The Romney family is just like everyone else, they may not have money issues like most of us but they have many challenges as we all do.

mr. obama and the democrats have to get over this made-up class issue for the betterment of society.

I'm not sure its possible when their platform seems to place money over God. Even my 6 year old knows you can only serve 1 master

The exact statement is that the love of money is “a root of all kinds of evil.” Once you are willing to make moral compromises in order to get wealth, not because you know no other way to survive but because it charms you, then the pits of hell are the limit. And even if you come by wealth honestly, it can be a temptation to keep it by foul means.

And if said apocalypse fails to come to pass....?

Infinitely more likely is that yes, Mitt will win. Obama has no more trick unicorns to trot out; they have all been put out to pasture. Not even the fabled 47% who paid no explicit Federal tax is unanimous in listening to him, as much as he would wish it. However, a lame duck Obama will wreak all the political vengeance he can possibly get away with until the minute Mitt is sworn in.

That should be played on the television. let all of America see the biased media in action.

I’m sure Obama’s wealth is helped by having The State Dept and embassies buying Obama’s books. They’ve never done it for other presidents.Yes, I suppose that’s just another little bonus from taxpayers to Obama.

Marx was not shy about trying to ride on elements of Judeo-Christian philosophy that he twisted to his purpose. The Christian faith brought new dignity to the poor, and even the Judaism that preceded it emphasized the importance of kindness to orphans and widows. But this was never supposed to turn into class warfare. That goes outside of the scope of these faiths’ teachings.

I agree that if Romney wins, between election day and Jan 20th, Obama will cause a much damage has he can before he leaves. He will sign every lousy cheating lying document he can to destroy what is left of this country. He should be put on a boat and sent home, wherever that actually is. Maybe Soros will give him a job in Moscow.

Okay, but somebody paid. And unless they used taxpayer money it was voluntary, after a fashion.

I don’t know where you get your odds. Pubs have won 7of 11 elections since ‘68, most of them with a more hostile MSM than now. Plus Obama has an economy all admit sucks. Surely the polls were wackily Obama-tilted, but I assume the plan was to tighten them closer to the election all along.

demographics are far less in our favor than ever in history to elect anyone remotely conservative...damned media or not

even if we win...it's still downhill from here unless everything changes

the factions in 1980 when Magnus won are gone...dead literally...and it takes..about 80% of the folks in this nation who are not govt workers, union members or vote because of "what" they are more than who they are to win today

America is becoming like Mississippi about how the not liberal people need to vote

almost 2/3rds of whites nationally will have to vote GOP now... that is a tall order compared to the old days of 52% or so

in Mississippi it approaches 90% and I bet this year it will equal or top that and set a record for monolithic peckerwood vote

Call me naive but I don’t understand why Mitt doesn’t try harder to highlight his success..I mean, hard work & success is a good thing! & creates jobs... not handouts, welfare, govt jobs etc..Mitt should celebrate his success. I know the libs/media will just cast him as out of touch, elitist etc..but it’s a fact that wealth, small biz create jobs! don’t these morons realize/understand or the truth is, “Holders people” are just happy where they are?
