Insight: Brazen Islamic militants showed strength before Benghazi attack

In the months before the deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya, U.S. and allied intelligence agencies warned the White House and State Department repeatedly that the region was becoming an increasingly dangerous vortex for jihadist groups loosely linked or sympathetic to al Qaeda, according to U.S. officials.

Despite those warnings, and bold public displays by Islamist militants around Benghazi, embassies in the region were advised to project a sense of calm and normalcy in the run-up to the anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the United States.

So brazen was the Islamist presence in the Benghazi area that militants convened what they billed as the "First Annual Conference of Supporters of Shariah (Islamic law)" in the city in early June, promoting the event on Islamist websites....

...[R]esearchers...concluded that al Qaeda had used the "lack of security" in Libya to establish training camps there. It also reported that "hundreds of Islamic militants are in and around Derna," where special camps provided recruits with "weapons and physical training."

President Barack Obama's administration has repeatedly said it had no specific advance warning of an attack like the one that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi on the night of September 11.

My Grandma knows that Libya is dangerous. Al-Qaeda kicked Hillary and Obama in the behind, and the Dems are trying to slap makeup on their butts to hide the bruises.

I have a question here. Drudge has a top, third column story, I clicked on, but didn’t read, on Feinstein’s remarks about Benghazi. The column of the story has that picture we haven’t seen much of lately, of our suffering, or dead, ambassador in the arms of his captors or rescuers, remember?

Well, what if those dragging or carrying him were the enemy? What IF something went wrong, that there was some deal making going on, and they did rescue him, realizing he was not the mark, but was the dealmaker who wasn’t suppose to be harmed?

It’s suppose to be a mystery who got Ambassador Stevens to the hospital.

Or else the Libyan guards got him to the hospital and fled for their own safety, to avoid the attackers? It’s just curious that Stevens was even brought to the hospital.

BTW, Hillary should resign.

She is Obama’s foreign policy, imho, and directed the lax security to look competent, for her legacy, to pretend that the world is a better place now, in her hands. Obama never gave the slightest pretense of interest in foreign policy, while Bill and Hill intend to go global.

They need to stop ignoring her culpability and stupidly chasing after the water carrier, Rice. As for Obama, Iole protest anyway. seriously doubt they even bothered to call him. They call Jarrett. She decides what Obama thinks
and knows.

Jarrett likely came up with the fiction blaming the video and that it was just a little

Speaking of brazen :

The same group that recruited "Johnny Taliban" Walker-Lindh holds an annual Shariah-promoting conference in Chicago.

Whose fault is it that Libya is like this? Wasn’t it the U.S. and its allies who doublcrossed Khaddafi and unleashed the wave of jihad in Libya. Now the chickens have come home to roost. Of course, neither Obama nor Romney is going to point this out.

I think it's certainly possible that this may have been an attempt to take Stevens and the others at the consulate as hostages.

Stevens and the information officer died of smoke inhalation, according to State Department reports. From those same reports, it seems that the jihadis set fire to Building C but did not know that Stevens, the information officer and a security officer had retreated to a secure hidden area within the building.

I am indebted to the testimony before the Issa Intell Committee! What was heard there can not be reeled back in. This was a disaster for security and should be rectified with Hillary’s resignation. Intel is done with her that’s clear. There is just no proof that Obama even has a foreign policy but for Hillary’s finger print. She is more responsible than we even know.

Obama approved and is, of course, ultimately responsible but seriously disengaged, given the Clinton brand protects him.
