Joe Jackson FLASHED A HANDGUN to a room full of people at a recent event in Vegas ... and told the crowd it's just like an American Express card ... he doesn't leave home without it.
The bizarre moment all went down while Joe was at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino in Vegas this weekend to be honored at the Black Music Awards (apparently that's a thing).
Joe was introduced by his friend -- Majestik -- who told the crowd a story about Joe confronting Michael Jackson's bodyguards two weeks before MJ's death.
During the alleged confrontation, Majestik says Joe flashed his gun at the guards and said -- "If I hear you all givin' my son drugs or doing anything illegal with my son ... I'ma kill all of you."
When Majestik turned the mic over to Joe -- JJ corroborated the story ... saying, "It's very true. Every word he said."
Then Joe told the crowd ... "I carry a piece everywhere I go ... I'm gonna show it to you."
Joe proceeded to open up his suit jacket, revealing a handgun holstered by his hip. Joe explained, "I've been threatened a lot of times and so I need to be safe."
We reached out to Joe to see if he is even legally allowed to pack heat -- but so far, we have yet to hear back.

They’ll never call HIM ‘Shootless Joe Jackson’..........
Barak Obama.....please pick up the courtesy phone
First lesson in CHL class, it has to be concealed. You cannot flash it like a badge.
Homey must have missed that part.
Who is Joe Jackson???
Why should I care??
OOPS! I thought you were talking about Joe Jackson ( the singer)

That's true in some states, not true in others. Living as I do in Colorado, where open carry is legal except in Denver, Telluride, and I believe Boulder, I carry openly about a third of the time.
I never leave the house without a gun.
What would 'Black Music Awards' be without a little playful gun fight.
VA is odd. Open carry is legal, and conceal-carry is legal, but showing a concealed sidearm on purpose is “brandishing”.
He did "Is She Really Going Out with Him?"
I was going to say it’s because he’s gotta look sharp, but I see that it’s the wrong Joe Jackson.
Anyone else would have probably been arrested for brandishing a firearm.
In my home city, every year there is a very large convention called Black Expo. The locals have come to learn that you stay out of downtown during this time as there are routinely several shootings while the convention is in town (this past year was an exception I think). I suspect there are only a comparitive few that are actually legally permitted to carry handguns.
Now, contrast that against the Moto GP event that also includes 10s of thousands of bikers from all over the nation, where a large part of downtown is closed to all automobile traffic. To walk around and look at all (and there are 4 packed blocks of them) the motorcycles is pretty cool. It gets crowded and the crowd "appears" rough in the biker gang sense. HOWEVER, this past year I identified no fewer than 5 other people carrying holstered pistols (mostly concealed but either printed or exposed when sitting on bikes, mounting, dissmounting or setting a bike on a dyno machine). I only noticed the latter 4 after I noticed one and wondered how many others and started to keep an eye out. I suspect there were hundreds if not thousands of others including myself armed and concealed. I am not aware of one reported incident and I have to proudly say, despite the leather, tattoos, pearcings and sometimes chains, it was a very polite crowd. I didn't even see fights, though there were many drunks and some scantily clad young women in the crowd. No debachery, nudity or obvious crime of any sort.
I'll go back down there every year that they keep comming back. Next year, I might take my kids.
Same for Washington state. If you’re gonna carry concealed you have to keep it concealed. Special prohibitions against “brandishing”.
