As the left continues to advocate for further restrictions on the Second Amendment, others are using it to save their lives.
This past Wednesday a young 12-year old girl in Bryan County, Oklahoma was able to protect her life when an intruder kicked in her back door and entered her house. Frantically, she called her mother who advised her to grab their household gun, hide in the closet, and call 911.
The intruder made his way through the house, and as he was opening the door of the closet, the young girl shot him through the closet door. The intruder left the house and the girl was found unharmed. The police arrived and took the man into custody.
What would have happened had the girl not been armed? We cant be sure, but there are far too many stories of young girls being kidnapped, murdered, and raped.
The news is full of crimes and events that could have been preventedor at least decreased the amount of damagehad there been less gun restrictions. One of the most recent examples is the Aurora, Colorado shooting that occurred back in July.
A masked gunman opened fire at one of the midnight showings of The Dark Knight Rises, leaving 12 dead and 50 injured. One person opened fire, but not one person was armed to protect themselves or others. Aurora citizens are allowed to obtain concealed carry permits, but arent allowed to use their weapons. It would have been illegal for anyone to fire his or her weapon in the theatre. The theatre also had a ban on any and all weapons.
I can only imagine if second amendment rights were upheld and protected in Aurora, maybe more people would have been saved. Unfortunately, that wasnt the case.
In areas where Second Amendment rights are respected, many lives have been saved in similar instances. About a week before the Aurora shooting, 71-year old Samuel Williamsa concealed gun carrieropened fire on two intruders in an internet café in Marion County, Florida. One of the intruders was armed with a gun, the other with a baseball bat. Both intruders suffered only minor injuries and were taken into custody.
Luckily, the young 12-year old girl was also able to save herself.
The Left loves to use these instances to lobby for stricter gun laws. Mayor Bloomberg, among many others, advocated for stricter gun laws following the Aurora incident. And, in Tuesdays presidential debate, President Obama advocated for stricter gun laws:
"What I'm trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my hometown of Chicago, there's an awful lot of violence and they're not using AK-47s. They're using cheap handguns."
President Obama tried to make an argument for more restrictions on the Second Amendment, but Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws, and that hasnt decreased violence.
We will never understand why people go out of their way to harm others, but we have a constitutional right to defend ourselves. We must stand by the Constitution and remember this: guns dont kill people. People must make the decision to kill others. If I were to ever be in a similar situation as the 12-year old Oklahoma girl, I wouldnt want to be found empty handed.
This is a brave young lady. Even afterward the event, she was calm, cool, and collected for the TV interview.
I appreciate the story but who in hell composed it? “A young 12 year old” as opposed to an old 12 year old? Shot him through the closet door. Ouch! That must have hurt. I know that my closet door is very sensitive, especially in the early morning. I’d have aimed for his gut. Bring back classical education.
Luckily she had a chance to talk to her mother prior to the break in and her mother gave her her instructions and there was a good outcome.
I would encourage all parents to have plans for scenarios like this already ingrained in kids heads so they can act without calling the parents. If you can’t trust your kids at home with a loaded firearm then you may need to take a long look.
The Second Amendment isn’t so we can protect ourselves against individual criminals. It’s to protect ourselves from the institutional criminals we elect.
In Alaska almost everyone is armed..
1) Car jackings are almost non existent..
2) Burglarys are rare except in Anchorage where we keep most of our democrats.. even there its low..
3) even the women carry shooters in their bags..
No, it’s both.
No, it’s both.
I’m proud of her, she did the right thing.
It’s really both, although the intent was to protect us from a tyrannical government as you pointed out, I also add that it is there to protect us from criminals too. As the old saying goes, “The Second Amendment ain’t about duck huntin’.”
I have been having thoughts of even carrying in the house and we live in a very good Sub.
Shot through the closet door.

Kinda like being stabbed in the Rotunda
You overlooked the little matter of Fairbanks and Anchorage being #1 and #2 in the US for forcible rape.
Forbes lists both cities as “the most dangerous for women’ in the US.
Note for tourists - if you are not drunk, on drugs or hanging out with people that are (drunk or high) you are pretty safe up here.

Thats mainly a native problem.. also in the villages..
as is child abuse of various kinds.. The “indians” have some primitive customs and attitudes.. Not reported that way because of PC attitudes..
As with the blacks in the big citys that are not “coddled” with no or little reporting of some of the bizarre nasty things going on there.. Like almost 80% single parent family’s and huge abortion rates.. Massive crime gets reported somewhat.. black on black we see but black on white crime is severally UNDER reported..
Even here the Journalists are liberals.. mostly.. and not a few republicans are too.. the brain wash is wide and deep.. everywhere.. Most all crime statistics are manipulated..
You know.... by the “journalists”.. When was the last time you heard most crime is committed by democrats?..
Not always in that order.

Ahhhhh hah!!! I see what he is trying to say here...
So instead of combatting the issue on urban civility, and social economic, demographic issues...He would like to give the thugs in Chicago an upgrade in the type of weaponry, kinda like a domestic “Fast and Furious” operation...
Just put a bunch of AK’s in the hands of thugs in Chicago and see what happens...
Yeah, that’s a fabulous idea!!! .....hmmmmmm, should I really need to put in a “/sarc” tag here???
I dunno...
