Tidal Wave: The Houston Chronicle Endorses Mitt Romney
Big Journalism - Breitbart ^ | October 21, 2012 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 10/21/2012 12:24:02 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

On Sunday The HoustonChronicle, which in 2008 broke a 44 year tradition of backing Republicans and endorsed Barack Obama, endorsed Mitt Romneyfor President in 2012:

>>>Like so many others,we were captivated by the Illinois senator's soaring rhetoric and energized by his promise to move American politics beyond partisan gridlock and into an era of hope and change.

It hasn't happened. Four years later,PresidentObama's deeds have failed to match his words, much less his specific vows to cut the national debt by half and bring the nation's unemployment rate to 6 percent. As Texans,it is a particular vexation that this president's attitude toward the interests of our state has occasionally bordered on contempt, particularly in decisions relating to the NASA budget and the energy sector. The hurtful symbol of this attitude of insensitivity to Texans' feelings was the administration's choice to deny Space City's bid to become home to one of the retired space shuttles.

.......In our 2008 endorsement we cautioned the president against demonizing the energy sector-good advice that he has never heeded (see KeystoneXLPipeline). By contrast,Gov.Romney has listed energy atop his five-point plan to rejuvenate the economy.....

The other launch pad ignored by PresidentObama is the literal one-NASA,and specifically the JohnsonSpaceCenter.

It has been an insult to the memory of American heroes like Neil Armstrong and Sally Ride to allow manned spaceflight to languish in the country that put men on the moon. The notion of paying $50 million a seat to Russia for commercial taxi service to the International Space Station is galling.

Obama has failed to articulate a bold vision of his own for the agency. That failure forsakes a legacy of scientific achievement that has showered benefits on the nation. This approach to NASA has abandoned the American imperative of lighting out for the territory and exploring new worlds. NASA's legacy must be reclaimed....

That makes Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle for Romney. Those idiots in San Antonio are endorsing obozo. I can’t find where Austin A/S holes are but we can certainly guess...

If I hadn’t booked late and will lose money I would cancel my trip tomorrow to San Antonio if I saw their endorsement in time.

Just got back from a business trip to Houston. No offense, Houstonites, but what an armpit! It has all the traffic of Los Angeles with none of the attractiveness.

"Socialism: The sweet siren song of the shortcut promising us that we don't have to work, that we don't have to think, that we don't have to plan... someone else will be doing those things for us....................Socialism is the promise that the tool we made can be a better master for us, than we could be for ourselves. But to believe that we first have to believe in magic. We have to believe that the things we make are better at running our lives than we are. We have to accept that the collective is better than the individual, that the corporate is wiser than the lone man or woman. And when we come to believe that, and bow before the icon of socialism that we ourselves have made, then we have chosen to irrationally believe in magic. A magic that is all inside our heads, the sweet siren song of the shortcut promising us that we don’t have to work, that we don’t have to think, that we don’t have to plan… someone else will be doing those things for us." All these papers are just proving how stupid they were and still are. Anyone who could not see through Obama is an idiot.

That makes Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle for Romney...

Houston is humming and it should (will) be roaring. Texas is still standing and Houston is bed rock solid (if sitting on "gumbo" clay).

The Orlando Sentinel endorsed Romney.

Tampa-St.Pete Times went for Obama.

If you had been in Houston in the mid 70’s when the price of oil dropped to the bottom, the traffic would have been to your liking, there wasn't any. That's one way Houston folks judge the economy. Personally I'll take heavy traffic. I never thought of LA as attractive but I guess it's just your point of view.

I’ve visited Houston several times and found it attractive....don’t know where it gets it’s ugly reputation. It’s not Kansas City with more fountains than Paris, but it’s nice.

Some may call Houston an armpit, but it's a thriving armpit...thanks to business friendly state laws and our can-do, "if you don't want to work hard for this job, the next guy will" attitude.

In addition to projects waiting to start, we're also hearing that owners and companies will release even more projects - more than we can imagine - across the state, once Romney is elected. I imagine the same will hold true, across the country.

Like Rush said, it will be a recovery like we've never seen!

San Antonio’s mayor’s mom is Rosie Castro. Rosie Castro was the first chairwoman of the Bexar County Raza Unida Party. They believe Texas belongs to Mexico....the Atzlan group. How and why this city elected this lefty, I’ll never understand.

In our 2008 endorsement we cautioned the president against demonizing the energy sector...

Idiotic naifs at the Houston Chronicle. What exactly did they think he'd do when he said he would bankrupt power companies trying to build coal plants and "other countries wouldn't be alright with us heating our buildings to 72F and driving SUVs"?

Let's hope they've learned something in four years...never trust lying communists.
