Richard Mourdock: God at work when rape leads to pregnancy

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said Tuesday when a woman is impregnated during a rape, "it’s something God intended."

Mourdock, who’s been locked in a tight race with Democratic challenger Rep. Joe Donnelly, was asked during the final minutes of a debate whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest.

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happened," Mourdock said.

“Stupid” is a word I’ll reserve for anyone who decides not to vote for Mourdock over this. He was asked the question about rape and abortion. Again, let’s not pile on and turn this into a story of ‘Mourdock’s inevitable loss’ or some such crap.

No, that's even lower than stupid, that's developmentally disabled.

As to gauging the impact on the race, I’m not sure.

Tom Smith said some lame crap (also POST Akin) and now he’s surged into a tie with the rat Casey so it didn’t hurt him.

Hard to know how the mental giants who let irrelevant rhetorical nonsense be a factor in how they vote will react.

We happened to be checking the Laurence "Creepy Liar" O'Donnell show (during a Fox News commercial break) on MSLSD when this Mourdock news broke.

O'Donnell and his guests broke out in almost uncontrollable glee when they heard it... *sigh*

So, are we to believe that when rape results in a pregnancy, that God did NOT want it to happen? That God somehow screwed up? That God is actually against that pregnancy?

Genesis 50:20: You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Some might argue that we don’t need the appeal to God, but without God, how can we really argue that life is sacred? If there is no God, and we are all just evolved apes, by what standard would we judge which lives are valuable?

It is our relationship with God that informs us — All life is sacred.

No. It is time for republicans to nominate morons who don’t think trough these issues enough before mouthing off answers that include God, rape, pregnancy and abortion in the same sentence.

He can be the small minority who opposes abortion in all cases. But, he owes his republican supporters a damn good answer when it comes up in public. Not a moronic one.

Clarification is not going to do squat.

Expect this story to dominate rest of the week.

We have a lot of educating to do.

Most people understand that abortion is wrong. But they don’t clearly understand WHY they know abortion is wrong. So when confronted with other wrongs, such as rape, they weigh the wrongs.

But if they understood WHY abortion was wrong, they’d know that the issue of how a baby was conceived is meaningless. The Gift of life is a gift of God, and all life is sacred. If you believe that the fetus is alive, you must oppose killing it, regardless of how it was conceived.

On the other hand, if you don’t truly believe the fetus is alive, and therefore you accept abortion for rape and incest, then you have no leg to stand on opposing abortion for other reasons.

And in fact, you are much more open to the argument that you really just want to punish women. Because the rape/incest argument is really an argument about whether the woman is to blame for being pregnant. So those who oppose abortion, but not for rape, are saying “we oppose abortion if the woman chose to have sex and got pregnant, but not if the woman was forced to have sex.

The incest exception is even more bizarre, although most people think about child abuse and it’s another case of the woman NOT choosing to have sex.

“Expect this story to dominate rest of the week.”

Dominate what? The same networks that have spent a month talking about binders and Big Bird instead of Benghazi?

Not now, and not in the lifetime of anyone reading this, I strongly suspect.

Not without faith, and those who are willing to be faith's trailblazers. With faith more good can actually happen than most can even begin to imagine, accompanied by faithful action. This is because God is here. He is able and willing to move mountains, if only we believe. We may also have to find out what persecution and sacrifice are and may, as any good soldier, have to give up our fortunes and/or our lives, if need be. The real problem is that for far too long people have forgotten or have not understood the mighty workings of The LORD. Kingdoms in the past have been subdued and won over by the mighty power of The LORD, and He is the same LORD today.

RE :”How effing stupid can you be? GOP SENATE CANDIDATES: DON’T TALK ABOUT RAPE”

He was specifically asked during the debate, and it was not a bad answer considering that his position is generally unpopular, which is why Romney tuned his.

Mourdock, who’s been locked in a tight race with Democratic challenger Rep. Joe Donnelly, was asked during the final minutes of a debate whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest.
“I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happened,” Mourdock said.’

If you take positions to get some voters you eventually have to defend them. On the Morning Joe today they started off talking about how this POTUS race is a campaign on NOTHING. Neither Romney nor Obama is saying anything.

To get elected!

We don’t have to like it, it’s just a fact of life.

I just taught a 90 minute class on 3 of the 5 “Non-Negotiables”, Abortion, ESC, and Cloning, so I don’t need any lectures.

I wish people who claim to be pro-life conservatives wouldn't be such bed-wetters... I listened to this portion of the debate, and found NOTHING to object to... Mourdock made it clear how deplorable rape is, but after a heinious act, we have to decide: Let another violent act happen, or chose life?

Now it appears that Repubs, including the empty suit Romney, are throwing another principled conservative under the bus. What did condemning Akin get us? It's looking like a Senator McCaskill, AGAIN. The Donnelly campaign couldn't have asked for better allies at this point.

What freakin’ moron. Where are the brains of these idiots? Two weeks away from the election now the ‘rats are going to use this for all it’s worth, all the way down to the wire: “Religious Mitt Romney believes rape is Gods will” and other crap like that. This is exactly why the ‘rats keep harping on rape and abortion because they know eventually one moron is going to give them ammunition.

Once again, we give up a sure fire Senate seat because we nominate “pure conservatives” in the primary. Angle, O’Donnell, Mourdock, Akin, etc, etc.

It’s amazing how stupid we can be. Now the Dems will GAIN seats in the Senate.

The stupidity we demonstrate is amazing. Yeah, Lugar wasn’t the ultimate conservative but he’ll be better than the Democrat that is going to replace him. Just like we had Reid beaten in Nevada, but we had to nominate the one clown that had no shot to beat him.

Truly amazing.

Simple...you can’t say God intended it to happen. That is ridiculous. God has given us a gift of FREE WILL and to act accordingly. To suggest that God intended it to happen doesn’t play well with anyone. It has nothing to do with the press, it has to do with saying stupid things which he did.

This idiot is going to lose...another seat, down the drain.

Richard Mourdock Statement

Richard Mourdock made the following statement after the second Indiana Senate debate:

“God creates life, and that was my point. God does not want rape, and by no means was I suggesting that He does. Rape is a horrible thing, and for anyone to twist my words otherwise is absurd and sick,” stated Richard Mourdock.
