Democrats Preparing to Oust Nancy Pelosi

House Democrats will hold their leadership elections on November 29, and the late date has led to speculation that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will step down and groom potential successors to take her place.

According to The Hill, some in Congress feel "Pelosi might be preparing to step down after 25 years on Capitol Hill, and that she plans to use her return in the lame-duck session to groom a challenger to Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), who is eager to move up the ladder."

Hoyer, Rep. James Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrats, and a new generation of Democrats have been waiting to move up the leadership ladder while Pelosi has been their leader for a decade.

The Hill notes younger Democratic leaders have been "anxiously" waiting for Pelosi to step down and her ten years as leader has been the longest stint in more than 50 years on the Democratic side of the aisle.

"Certainly we will see a generational shift, and that will be good," Pelosi said during the Democratic National Convention.

Ahh.... A “Don” never steps down, their are some power dynamics with this one that may not follow the normal rules. My question is what power is she still wielding behind the scenes...

As much as Pelosi deserves disdain, Republicans should WANT HER TO STAY as the Democrats’ House leader. Independents and many Democrats dislike her. Steny Hoyer is largely unknown outside of Hill circles (and, thus, NOT disliked) — but is unlikely to be any less LIBERAL. Point is, he could be more effective than the “everyone knows she’s a loony lefty” Pelosi can ever be.

Many of us were pleased as punch when they chose Pelosi, and I think we were right.

Who are we voting for now, and who is the worst choice for them to make from our perspective?

“permanent Democrat majority”

I thought it was James Carville who coined that phrase or was it 40 years of Democrat Permanent Majority.
