Let’s set the record straight. All monies go directly to the general funds. There it is under the control of the state legislators. They get to use it however they want like paying the teachers pensions that are underfunded. Jerry lies, the school system dies.
Let me channel Moonbeam and the California legislators.
For all of you on this thread saying that California wastes money, how dare you. California definitely needs a high speed rail in the middle of no where, so it was much more important to take the tax money you already paid us to use for that. Now we don’t have enough money to build all the extra admin building that the school districts so obviously need. So we must take more of your paycheck. Just suck it up and send us more money.
Do you know if this is one of those propositions that require two-thirds to pass, or does it just require a simple majority? Thanks.

It is almost amusing as you get older to have learned that every single election of your life until the day you die, after voting for 70 years, will include ballot or bond issues to save the schools from collapsing on the children and killing them.
In between elections you will learn about the ever growing wages and pensions and benefits and tenure, and ratio of administration to teachers, and lowering of standards and of illiterate graduates, but the desperate pleas for tax increases to paint the schools and fix the roofs, will still be there in every election.

Class size in Asia including private schools is frequently over 40 and they do a pretty good job of turning out educated students.
True. In India class sizes exceed 50 students, they do better and for far less like pennies on the dollar.

Well too bad, there are probably enough brain-addled folks in California that they will likely make the 50% hurdle.
Maybe they can cut spending on all the stupid programs that benefit slivers of the population, the gay bath houses & libraries, ethnic community centers etc... of course not they will threaten programs that sound good and people like first.

They changed it. They convinced people that in bad times they needed to make it easier to raise taxes.
