What happened to the lottery money that was supposed to keep the schools from running out of money?

The RATS are getting desperate. The most recent poll, USC/LA Times shows support for only 46% of registered voters & this poll is known to be very liberal. Moonbeam is out there begging people to support & he looks pissed that he’s having to campaign for Prop 30 because he & the crazy libs in this state can’t understand why the “it’s for the children” scare tactic won’t work anymore. Competing with Prop 38 is not helping his case either, Munger is running attack ads against Prop 30, it’s hilarious!!

Simple majority.

Until the last NO on 30 Vote is counted, I won't bet against the Teacher's Unions. They pulled it out before and I have no doubt they can do it again.

I can't wait until the Election is over.

“GOOD; and I speak as a former school district employee (Maintenance Supervisor) for over 25 years. I know for a fact how much they waste and misappropriate to stupid gimmee crap.
If they spent the money on education instead of PC bulls##t they would not have any financial problems.”

The San Ramon Valley School District here in the East Bay Area of San Francisco has literally acres of solar panel-covered parking lots at each of it’s high schools! And it’s ditto up in Napa. And oh, the Napa Wine Train received $54 million in stimulus money to “raise their tracks in downtown Napa so they don’t flood when the Napa River overflows it’s banks. So since they can piss away money like this, screw the schools! They turn out a beer quality product on champagne funding.

>>True. In India class sizes exceed 50 students, they do better and for far less like pennies on the dollar.

Yes. I was being conservative. My niece is in grade 5 here in Thailand in a private school, at there are 43 in her class. Last year it was 42. I think it is too many, - I’d like to see it the low 30’s, but the big push in the west for 15 or so is just teacher’s union featherbedding, IMO. Even in the 40’s though, it is workable.

If anyone is interested, discipline is not a problem at all. If a kid insists on not even trying to learn, they’ll put him in the back of the class and ignore him. If he’s eager but not a good learner, more advanced students will be assigned to help him. If truly unruly, he’ll be booted out of school. That is very rare.

Also, the children have to clean their classrooms and keep the grounds clean. Oh, also wear uniforms, which is a great idea - saves a lot of money and arguments over clothes, and jewelry is forbidden except for small earrings for the girls with pierced ears.

Arnold’s bond measures failed a few years back here to. Same wailing about money for schools, etc.
Even liberal pantloads don’t vote for tax increases when they get into the booths.

"How’s that $$$ bullet train to nowhere going?"

Milton Friedman, RIP, was once asked what one thing did he consider most important for the U.S.A. economy.

"School choice."

I have no problem paying teachers salaries or even funding reasonable teacher retirement plans; but I guess you have to work in the system to get a good idea of how it works.
Every school district in this state is run like an individual little fiefdom by the Superintendent and the local Board of Education. There are those administrators and principals who receive any thing they ask for, no matter how stupid or unreasonable. In the average school district in California it’s not how well you do your job, it’s who you know and who you entertain and party with. As a the supervisor for the district I worked for, it was my responsibility to check every work order for any new construction or addition to the schools facilities; that covered everything from administrative spaces, athletic fields, classrooms, cafeterias to roofs and vollyball courts. My brief was to make sure that whatever the job was it had to add something to the educational process and mission of the district, with safety/health and welfare concerns for the children as the number one component.
I was in charge of the Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Paint, Carpentry, Glazing, Welding, Machinist, Locksmith, Electronics and General Maintenance shops for more years than I want to think about now. In those years a minimum of 30% of my departmental budget was wasted on GIMMEE jobs.
I would have to tell a connected Administrator, Principal or Board member that their requested job did not meet the criteria that the district had set for the expenditure of Maintenance Department funds. The first thing I would hear from these dissatisfied customers would be, “WELL, WE WILL JUST SEE WHAT THE SUPERINTENDENT HAS TO SAY ABOUT THAT”. So please don’t tell me how district funds are wasted, I probably have a lot more experience there than most people would ever want or need. Once the funding comes from the state; a certain percentage of those funds have to be dedicated to what are called Catagorical Programs, these funds are only suppose to be used for those programs, but just wait until the district’s accountants are done with their manipulations of the numbers. I was actually made to use Special Education funds for handicapped students to install a sun shade for a teachers out door smoking area; how is that Special Ed, or for that matter for the students
period?

Where did you see the language for the 50% . I looked at the Proposition text and can not find the approval threshold. They used to have the percentage needed for passage on the text of the props.

There is a huge difference culturally between Asians and east Indians compared to western hemispheric Hispanics, especially those from Mexico and Central America.

The vast majority of people from Mexico and Central America are of mixed race, native American and Caucasian, hale from an agricultural background and do not value scholastics.

Class size doesn't matter as the students do not want to be there in school, period.

Here’s what Governor Brown means when he says the tax increase will go to Education:

Working Title: Executive Director for Campus Diversity and Inclusivity

Position Description: Cal Poly seeks an energetic, visionary and collaborative leader who will serve as the university’s executive inclusivity strategist. The successful candidate will have expertise in inclusivity issues as they manifest in the university environment and a proven record of strong leadership and management skills. The Executive Director for Campus Diversity and Inclusivity will work closely with a dynamic and progressive leadership team. The Executive Director for Campus Diversity and Inclusivity will report to the President. He or she will have budgetary and personnel responsibility within the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. Consequently, he or she will be a member of these respective teams with a working dual reporting line to the Provost and the Vice President of Student Affairs.

The President, Provost, Vice President of Student Affairs and the Executive Director for Campus Diversity and Inclusivity will assess staffing and budget issues annually to ensure the full implementation of the inclusive excellence model, which pertains to both climate and diversity initiatives.

If California can afford positions like these, they have more than enough money.

It is a pooly cooked up plan to loot the people hiding behind the old “for the children” mask. The people of California are on to you—Stop all the freebies for illegals and union payoffs and the state would not be bleeding money.

"... superintendents say class sizes could grow..."

That's bull $hit. On any given day, class sizes in California schools and inner-city schools such as Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, are greatly reduced because the 'gangsters-in-training' are skipping school to hone their gang-banging crime skills. Or, should I say 'gang-banging crime KILLS"?
