A new GOP poll found Republican Brendan Doherty leading Rep. David Cicilline (D) by 6 points in the hard fought and bitterly nasty race for Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional district.

The respected Republican firm OnMessage conducted a survey of likely voters for Doherty, which found him leading Cicilline 45 percent to 39 percent in a horse race matchup. Six percent of those polled said they would vote for independent candidate David Vogel, while 11 percent remained undecided.

Forty-two percent had a favorable view of Doherty, a retired state police officer, while 33 percent had an unfavorable view. Thirty-nine percent had a favorable view of Cicilline, while 46 percent had an unfavorable view of him.

THIS is probably why Dick Morris is saying Whitehouse could be upset.

They released a poll less than a week ago showing Hinckley within 8 points of Whitehouse (and Whitehouse under 50%):

Cicilline was a fairly unpopular and controversial pol to begin with (stemming from his time as Providence Mayor), so I wasn’t surprised he was endangered from the get-go. We held this seat as recently as 1992 (and had incumbent Ron Machtley not made an ill-advised run for Governor, losing in the primary to Lincoln Almond, probably would’ve held it, even against the drunken little turd Paddy Kennedy).

I don’t get Morris’ Senate projections.

He talks up our challenger in Rhode Island but ignores the much better possibility of still winning Missouri, Akin down only TWO in a recent poll with Romney up double digits in the State (and the rat Governor up only 48-42).

And in several articles and videos about the Senate races I have yet to see him mention the open seat in Connecticut where the rat has been only narrowly ahead since the general election began.

this guy Hinckley is bizarre. First, they let him out of the psych hospital. Now, a senate campaign. And he claims to be tough on crime? What a joke.

Cicilline was a classmate, at the university. I don’t think he shows up for the class re-unions. Fine by me.

My mom went to college with John Podesta, I think he was a senior while she was freshman, she said he led a sit in or something.

if it’s even close in some of these liberal states, this could be a blow out
