White House: Didn't Order 'Stand Down' in Benghazi-Rebuts allegations O denied requests for help

On Saturday afternoon a White House spokesman emphatically denied that President Obama had denied requests for help during the Benghazi attack. "Neither the president nor anyone in the White House denied any requests for assistance in Benghazi," wrote National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor in an email to Yahoo News.

That rebuttal follows a TV interview on Friday in which Obama avoided responding to a question about whether CIA operatives were told to "stand down" during the Benghazi attack.

KYLE CLARK, KUSA-TV, Denver: Were they denied requests for help during the attack?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, we are finding out exactly what happened. I can tell you, as I've said over the last couple of months since this happened, the minute I found out what was happening, I gave three very clear directives. Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to. Number two, we're going to investigate exactly what happened so that it doesn't happen again. Number three, find out who did this so we can bring them to justice. And I guarantee you that everyone in the state department, our military, the CIA, you name it, had number one priority making sure that people were safe.

In a separate radio interview on Friday, Obama pushed back on Fox News allegations that he lied about the administration's response.

"I've always been straight with the American people," the president told Philadelphia radio host Michael Smerconish.

"What's true is that the intelligence was coming in and evolving as more information came up," Obama said, explaining why his administration's explanation had changed in the hours and days after the attack.

Perhaps this is how the administration is justifying the statement that they did not “deny any requests for assistance”. They had the full resources of the US military at their disposal to launch a rescue, and our people no doubt expected just such a mission, and instead Barry sent in some Libyan rent-a-cops.

I believe that’s the word game they’re playing by denying that assistance was “denied”.

Perhaps someone can help find the reports where there was talk of some Libyans sent to the scene”

I don’t get the remark or quote about ‘the last couple of months’. Has time bypassed me or is time going to fast concerning events.

He didn’t deny support. He didn’t approve support.
He simply voted “present”

That is one thing he has a proven track record of doing.

From the article:

The eight-member American team had rushed here from the Libyan capital, Tripoli, arriving at the airport about 2 a.m. on Sept. 12, hours after the attack on the U.S. mission that killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and State Department staffer Sean Smith. The rescuers needed a ride to a second U.S. facility where more than 20 Americans were waiting to be evacuated.

This is absolute insanity.

Normally don't watch her show, but did tonight. Have never seen Pat Caddell this mad.

I watched Judge Jennine Pirro's Fox News broadcast tonight, on the strength of annieokie's recommendation. I liked the whole show, except for the segment with Ann Coulter and Pat Caddell. Judge Pirro simply would not let them talk, and continually interrupted them.

It was so bad, that I couldn't follow what Pat Caddell was trying to say. She wouldn't let the man get his points across without interjecting her own thoughts.

A great show, otherwise.

Well, B. Hussein made the tough decision to vote “present!”.

Yep. Another "gutsy call" by the Coward in Chief.

It’s worse than insanity...brave men died . Whose idea was this, anyway? That’s what I want to know.

I noticed that as well, but forgave them as their emotions as ours was raging.

Point is, Pat was so very emotional to the point of almost crying about all this. He is exactly the type of person that will/may have some effect, he is a Democrat.

I say someone should bring SUIT against the MSN's for Failure to Disclose the defects of their product OBAMA. They should have their licenses pulled.

We are talking about National Security and the MSN is derelict in the duty to inform people so they may make a wiser choice for president.

Many a major commercial company has been sued for Failure to Disclose.

On one of these threads someone’s theory is that Hillary is just a figurehead — has the position in return for her bowing out of the ‘08 election. Actually running the show at the State Dept. is Susan Rice who reports directly to Valerie Jarrett.

Hillary on the day after:

... I condemn in the strongest terms the attack on our mission in Benghazi today. As we work to secure our personnel and facilities, we have confirmed that one of our State Department officers was killed. We are heartbroken by this terrible loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and those who have suffered in this attack.

This evening, I called Libyan President Magariaf to coordinate additional support to protect Americans in Libya. President Magariaf expressed his condemnation and condolences and pledged his government’s full cooperation.

Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.

In light of the events of today, the United States government is working with partner countries around the world to protect our personnel, our missions, and American citizens worldwide...

There are a lot of people who know that he murdered that Ambassador and those Navy Seal heroes. Those who are complicit in the treason are likely to be eliminated as have been many people who know the inconvenient truth about the bath house Kenyan.

Timeline of comments on attack on US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed 4 Americans:

Sept. 11, 2012:

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a statement on the attack on Benghazi, notes that “some have sought to justify this vicious behaviour as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet.”

Sept. 12:

From the Rose Garden, President Barack Obama calls Benghazi an “outrageous and shocking attack.” He says the U.S. rejects efforts to denigrate religious beliefs of others, but that there is no justification “to this type of senseless violence.” He adds that “no acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation...”

In Washington, Clinton addresses the “video circulating on the Internet that has led to these protests in a number of countries.” She later returns to the “small and savage group in Benghazi” and says again “some seek to justify this behaviour as a response to inflammatory, despicable material posted on the Internet.”

In Libya, Wanis el-Sharef, then eastern Libya’s deputy interior minister, said the attacks were suspected to have been timed to mark the 9-11 anniversary and that the militants used civilians protesting an anti-Islam film as cover for their action. Infiltrators within the security forces may have tipped off militants to the safe house location, he said.

Sept. 14:

At the repatriation ceremony for the victims of the attacks, Clinton calls Benghazi a “heavy assault” and adds: “We’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful internet video that we had nothing to do with.”

Sept. 15:

In his weekly address, Obama stresses that the U.S. “has a profound respect for people of all faiths” and rejects the denigration of Islam. “Yet there is never any justification for violence,” he says. “There is no excuse for attacks on our embassies and consulates.”

Sept. 16:

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice, goes on morning shows at NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and CNN. Based on the administration’s best information, she says, the Benghazi attack was a “spontaneous — not a premeditated — response” to the anti-video protests in Cairo. A small number of protesters came to the consulate “and then as that unfolded, it seems to have been hijacked, let us say, by some individual clusters of extremists who came with heavier weapons,” she said. Rice called the attack a “direct result of a heinous and offensive video that was widely disseminated, that the U.S. government had nothing to do with.” She said the U.S. had no information at the time “that leads us to conclude that this was premeditated or preplanned.”

Sept. 20, 2012:

At a town hall event in Miami, Obama said: “What we’ve seen over the last week-and-a-half is an offensive video or cartoon directed at the prophet Muhammad. And this is obviously something that then is used as an excuse by some to carry out inexcusable violent acts directed at Westerners or Americans. What we do know is that the natural protests that arose because of the outrage over the video were used as an excuse by extremists to see if they can also directly harm U.S. interests.”

“The Obama Administration received requests for additional security from the Embassy and the Ambassador himself as early as February. An embassy cable on June 25 expressed fear of rising Islamic extremism in eastern Libya around Benghazi, and noted that the black flag of Al-Qaeda “has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities.” On August 2, Ambassador Stevens sent a cable requesting 11 additional body guards, noting “Host nation security support is lacking and cannot be depended on to provide a safe and secure environment for the diplomatic mission of outreach,”

But these requests for additional security were repeatedly denied, as security officials testified before Chairman Darrell Issa’s House Oversight Committee earlier this month. Obama and his allies did not want a show of American force in the country that would offend Muslim sensibilities. They wanted to rely instead on the host country’s security that the embassy was telling them was inadequate and could not be depended upon.

As the anniversary of 9/11 approached, the Obama Administration should have known that more security was necessary to protect diplomatic missions in the increasingly hostile country, especially on that sensitive date. But they did just the opposite, reducing security.”

Who’s left?

The one-armed man.
............
If the order must come from the president, then it had to have been Zer0 .

With the 'relieved' generals/admirals I think the White House explanation is going to be, Zer0 gave the order to help and those commanders refused or weren't prepared.
