Nobody is denying that there is a storm churning out there but the media hype is literally out of control. I am sitting here up in New England and everything is shut down. There is no reason for this. All we have so far in this part of Massachusetts is some drizzle and a slight breeze yet all the schools are closed statewide and the supermarkets were cleaned out yesterday of milk and bread. (Why milk and bread but not canned goods?)
At least my commute this morning was a breeze (pardon the pun).

I’m in Newport News, VA stuck at home because my son’s school is closed. It isn’t even windy out and we had more rain many days throughout the summer. Only damage will be tidal flooding in areas that flood whenever a Noreaster or storm comes through. I wouldn’t want to be in Jersey, but the hype was major overkill here.

Clearly you haven't been paying attention to the many threads on Sandy. I suggest you might try reading some of them before. Consider this there are 50 Million people in the path of Sandy. Consider: http://egsc.usgs.gov/isb/pubs/booklets/elvadist/elvadist.html New York 410H to Sea Level Philadelphia 421H to Sea Level Baltimore 489H to Sea Level Washington DC 410H to Sea Level Consider everyone of the major cities in Sandy's path have rivers prefect for channeling storm surges inland. Glad you had a nice commute. I hope those in Sandy's way have just such a 'breeze' day, but I doubt it.

Why milk and bread but not canned goodsBecause you can't make French toast with a can of beans?

As certain as the sun sets in the west, Geraldo will be standing on a rainless beach on Fox tonight, hair blowing in the wind, yelling above the non roar in the background about the severity of Franken-Fake.

I live in north central CT. At one point most schools were going to do a half day. They they all closed Monday/Tues. As of noon is we have a light drizzle and some wind.
I can’t watch local news anymore. They are literally treating the storm moving say, 10 miles (as predicted) since the last broadcast as breaking news.
