Right-wing hysteria over Benghazi feeds upon itself
4:25 pm October 29, 2012, by Jay Bookman

Fox New anchors, right-wing websites and talk-radio hosts around the country are ginning up a wave of mass hysteria about the decision by the Obama administration not to attempt a military rescue of Ambassador Chris Stevens in Libya. (Glenn Beck is even telling listeners that the treason is more widespread, and that Stevens was acting as a gunrunner for al Qaida in Libya and Syria. I kid you not.)

Obama’s crime is said to be so heinous that mere impeachment for refusing to intervene would be insufficient. If you Google the words “Benghazi” and “traitor,” you get some 518,000 hits, almost all of which cast President Obama as that traitor. The criticism extends as well to the mainstream media, which as my email informs me, is being accused of covering up a scandal of such dimensions that it would supposedly dwarf Watergate.

But I have a question.

According to NBC News, Mitt Romney hasn’t mentioned Libya in his campaign appearances around the country since Oct. 12, which is more than two weeks ago. Now why do you think that is?

Sure...right-wing conspiracy.

I am so sick of liberals screaming to high heaven about atrocities that happened under Bush, when there was no proof to back up their claims, and then are silent when Obama commits NUMEROUS atrocities that ARE factually proven to have happened.

Cindy Sheehan comes to mind....

Any sitting POTUS or Occupier of the White Hut who sacrifices American lives to Allah could make me hysterical.

The Obama bootlickers’ attitude is, “So what if a few nobodies were killed?” They are absolutely willing to sacrifice any number of people if it increases Obama’s chances of getting re-elected.

I’ll settle for “landslide” and “President Romney” for now. I think Benghazi is way bigger than we can unravel in the next 7 days.

Four men are dead. It's not hysteria.

An embassy (US soil) attacked, ambassador targeted and dead, strange behaviour from the White House. I don’t think it’s hysteria, but it may deflect attention if labeled so. Maybe it will work, eh?

Fairly simple answer: Others are doing a far better job with better resources than the Romney campaign could do at discovering the facts.

The Romney campaign is focused on running a campaign not an investigation.

When I think back on the Left-wing hysteria that fed upon itself to give us Watergate, it makes me so angry that they scoff at a sitting President not lifting a finger to do the job he is actually supposed to to do.

Yeah, I was about 15-16 at that time. It irks me to no end - even to this day - to remember how I bought into this line of hysteria (at the time I did not realize that our 'News Media' had a long history of acting as propagandists for Socialists and Democrats). I was convinced that President Nixon was the crookedest guy who came down the pike, and that John Dean was a paragon of virtue... What a sucker I was...
President Nixon might not win any awards for ethics, but what he did was 'nothing' compared with the crimes carried out with impunity by previous and subsequent Democrat Presidents. Two wrongs don't make a right, but President Nixon's actions, at most, justified a sternly written admonishment to be more forthcoming in the future.
And, crooked as he may have been, he still loved his country enough not to put it through a show-trial and a dragged out impeachment process (and remember that he loved his country enough, not to contest a pretty shady election win by JFK in 1960 ... unlike his Democrat counterpart some 40 years later).

I swallowed that Watergate spiel hook, line, and sinker. It was nothing but a Media engineered coup. And now, when there are real scandals, and real crimes resulting in deaths (Fast and Furious -- aka, 'Let's cancel the 2nd Amendment'; and Benghazi -- where we left 4 Americans to die -- for whatever reason: cowardice, or as the result of nefarious schemes) -- our wonderful Media is AWOL. A pox on the lot of them.

Not one of them ever served a day in uniform nor have they ever served in a group where no person is left behind, regardless of the cost. They are a bunch of selfish self-serving cowards.

Oh, I think it’s unraveled plenty in the minds of the voters. Just look at the polls, of course only the election-day polls will count.

If we prevail, we need some criminal charges leveled.

Yes. I did not find a good place to say this, so I will respond to FReepers here.

We are conservatives who live in Miami (Roads/Shenandoah area for those who are familiar with Miami). Up until about a week ago, we saw very few Obama- Biden signs on people’s front lawns. At the end of last week, we had a visit from a couple of Obama canvassers. We said of course thanks but no thanks.

The next morning we went out our front door to see new Obama signs sprouting from several of our neighbors’ lawns. (Since this is not a wealthy area, we suspect that in the Miami tradition they were given 20 bucks or so to put up the signs. We also know that all of those folks have connections to the public schools, whether because their daughter is a public school teacher and has gotten orders from the teachers union, or maybe something else).

We have now seen that, first, a bunch of Obama signs have appeared on the roads here, and, second, that a number of Romney/Ryan signs seem to have “disappeared” (they used to be by far the majority).

Maybe this is just a “cheap” last-ditch effort to turn Florida around, since Miami is pretty heavily democrat. But it sure would be nice to see some Romney signs out on the streets. (We will not because I work at a local university and have already had my car defaced once... because I have military stickers on my car for my two serving kids, and not because of Romney stickers).

I surely hope the Romney campaign is not taking Florida for granted.

Hysteria? Liberals were frantic for months about some Muslim with panties on his head. Hysteria? A retired twit who worked for the CIA, being outed when, in fact, it was no secret. Hysteria? Bush continued to read a book to schoolchildren for EIGHT MINUTES, after he learned about 9/11. Weeks and weeks of the same old repetitive stories jammed down our throats.

Exactly. They would be interrupting Days of Our Lives with hourly bulletins, throwing themselves in front of presidential motorcades to demand that the president tell us how soon he was going to be resigning, and whether he planned to sign the death warrant for his treason himself.

Mitt Romney hasn’t mentioned Libya in his campaign appearances around the country since Oct. 12, which is more than two weeks ago. Now why do you think that is?

Beck answered this question , namely that whatever Romney would say about it, if further developments in any way cast a different light on the quote, there would be an endless line of recrimination in the press, so Romney has refrained.

Also , Jay, Cindy Sheehan made a career of hectoring Bush about the death of her son in much more conventional circumstances to much media trumpeting. Now two of the killed have had parents openly question Obama, and you're too much of a pipsqueak to even acknowledge them.

Bookman is a waste of air but I’ll answer his window-licker question anyway. Romney doesn’t address it because he knows it’s far too serious to make a campaign issue out of it.

When this idea that obumbler would smuggle arms to Syria by way of Libya was first mentioned, the libs totally ignored it. Crickets...

And a few laughed.

But then along comes Katherine Harris of Fox News with the same conclusion and tipsters that gave her the info.

Now this lib writer ridicules the idea.

Obviously there is something to it and that it is so big that it must be covered up no matter how.

This story is no over by a long way.

Sort of. It's circling the drain/bowl.
