Benghazi cover-up much worse than 'third-rate burglary'
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | 10/30/2012 | Jack Kelly

The ride on the Obama bus gets bumpier as more bodies are thrown under it. The latest to go thumpity thump are journalists who trumpeted the administration's excuse that faulty intelligence is why the president said for so long the attack on our consulate in Benghazi was a "spontaneous" protest over a Youtube video. The journalists went under the bus because the Foreign Service and career intelligence officers the administration tried to scapegoat refused to go there. They've leaked emails that reveal the White House was informed while it was still going on that the attack was the work of terrorists affiliated with al-Qaida. To put this in the context of the Mother of All Scandals, these emails are the equivalent of a transcript of what was on the 181/2 minutes of the secret White House tapes President Nixon's secretary erased.

FReepers need to comment on the article at the Pgh Post-Gazette. There is a comment there by a gal named Kayla Wolfe who refers to a FreeRepublic article and provides a link to try and erroneously make her case against the information in the Post-Gazette article. She claims that Republicans are being treasonous. Wonder what her FReeper name is, she is apparently a troll here.

Wow! A crack in Obama's "news" media firewall protection!

When the "news" media start to make references to Watergate about Benghazi, it's almost SHTF time (I hope)!

This cover-up, like that in Watergate, goes right to the top.

Even if Nixon had sat in the Oval Office watching live video of four American ambassadors being tortured and butchered and several U.S. military being overrun and killed.. Watergate still would not be the same.. vis-a-vis the MSM.

The MSM was in a frenzy for weeks and weeks.. sometimes the network TV evening news had no other stories; and nary a newspaper frontpage above the fold was absent a Watergate story for weeks.

I clearly remember those days and still ask

What the hell did Nixon do that JFK and LBJ did not do?

The coverup.. OK that's right but don't who know that the f'in' MSM DID NOT QUESTION JFK and LBJ TO AN EXTENT THAT THEY HAD TO BOTHER TO COVERUP. Later that changed for LBJ as the "anti-war," pro-Ho demonstrators took over much of the MSM.. but LBJ was never opposed on anything but the war.

“What the hell did Nixon do that JFK and LBJ did not do?”

IIRC, the plumbers really got going in their attempts to stop the “Pentagon Papers” from getting released. These papers were official documents from the LBJ era that showed the various problems with the Vietnam War. So Nixon was trying to protect National Security.

And I think the Watergate Coverup was in part covering up JFK’s Pay of Pigs fiasco. I think 2-3 of the operatives were Cuban, and had been involved with the Bay of Pigs. On the tapes, right before the 7.5 minute gap in the tapes IIRC, Nixon said something about “...the whole Cuban thing.”

Off topic I guess, but even Nixon was covering for JFK and LBJ I think when it came to National Security measures. But all the press cares about is building up or tearing down the president, depending on which side he is on.

Yes, the coverup was not to protect himself. Nixon had other reasons including simply protecting his staff -- who some like G Gordon Liddy say the break-in was a personal matter for one of the key staff members at the White House.

(IIRC Nixon was leading McGovern by 99.9 points.. he had everyone except the MSM employees. If Nixon had ordered the break-in it would have been to leave a personal "Thank You" note.)

I remember that the ultra liberal, progressive MSM employees even hated Nixon so much that they even went after one of their own for helping Nixon..

IIRC Soviet and Red China comrade Armand Hammer (who owned Al Gore Sr) was successfully prosecuted only once in his life dating back to Russian Revolution days of 1917.. he got nailed for giving money to Nixon's White House to give to the Watergate defenders to help them through it all.

"My suspicion is, is that there are folks involved in [the attack on the consulate] who were looking to target Americans from the start," the president told Mr. Kroft.

The fact that CBS cut this from the broadcast -- airing instead Mr. Obama's attack on Mitt Romney for criticizing his Middle East policy -- indicates why the White House remains confident the "mainstream" media will continue to downplay the scandal.

--snip--

Appeals to their integrity are unlikely to get "mainstream" journalists to do their jobs, since they have so little of it. Self preservation may. The leaked emails expose journalists who touted the administration's story as gullible chumps, corrupt shills, or both.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has at least one writer worth reading.

This cover-up, like that in Watergate, goes right to the top. What's being covered up is much worse than a "third rate burglary." Why was security so lax? Why were the ambassador's pleas for more turned down? Why did the president lie? Americans have a right to know. Few in the media have tried to find out.

This appeared in a newspaper? Good. Good for them.... finally.

Thanks for the ping.

No enjoyment here, although I appreciate the brave newspaper who dared to print this BEFORE the Election: “ - - - His interview with Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes, taped the day after the attack, indicates that Mr. Obama has been lying from the get-go. - - - “

Hope they test their food for arsenic - - - .
