When the bodies of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans killed in Benghazi, Libya, arrived at Andrews Air Force Base after the Sept. 11 attack, they were greeted by the president, the vice president and the secretaries of state and defense. Conspicuously absent was CIA Director David Petraeus.
Officials close to Mr. Petraeus say he stayed away in an effort to conceal the agency's role in collecting intelligence and providing security in Benghazi. Two of the four men who died that day, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, were former Navy SEAL commandos who were publicly identified as State Department contract security officers, but who actually worked as Central Intelligence Agency contractors, U.S. officials say.
The U.S. effort in Benghazi was at its heart a CIA operation, according to officials briefed on the intelligence. Of the more than 30 American officials evacuated from Benghazi following the deadly assault, only seven worked for the State Department. Nearly all the rest worked for the CIA, under diplomatic cover, which was a principal purpose of the consulate, these officials said.

Intentional as in pre-planning before 9/11. They were too quick in blaming a video. IMO, it was a set up. Sadly, we will probably never know.

This is understandable, isn't it. No clear clear mission, no clear strategy, no clear tactics. It is all is very familiar to me and my buddies.

Very dumb of any administration to play with the CIA the way this one has.
This might turn out be one of the most amazing stories in this whole mess. Rumor on another blog stated they has 2 pistols going into that fight.
Since Mr. Patreaus is being setup to be the fall guy for this mess tells me Mr. Patreaus has the least amount of blood on his hands, the three remaining zer0, hilary, panetta are in blood up to their hairlines.
This was an ARMS DEAL gone bad.
Okay, I’ll consider him guilty of wanting to keep his job. Nothing else at this point.

Russian involvement in Syria has nothing to do with the killing of the Americans in Libya.
IF rebels in Libya had taken 20 thousand or 20 million or whatever is claimed missiles there would be no need for the US to try and get them back to send to the Syrian rebels since al Queda would have been able to get them themselves, if they did not already have them.
There is nothing in the Gaffney article but the same rumors we have heard elsewhere. Not only would that information not get a conviction but it would not even rate an indictment.
Assad is Putin's client. We were abetting deposing him via weapons from Libya, organized by the very guy who got killed. I've shown indication of a declared motive, means, and opportunity.

Exactly. The whole thing was planned. A setup. This morning I find out a counter-terrorism team was not allowed to deploy that could have given FBI investigators security and gotten them in in two days instead of the 24 days it took them. That had to be intentional. 0coward and Hillbilly are blocking investigations.
I can no more prove that than you can that we were buying weapons to send to Syrian rebels. Vague rumors are not proof. Hunches aren’t either.

Unlike you, I never stated my position as anything more than "my take." Accordingly, you had no legitimate objection. You objected flatly. I asked you to support your contention and you have failed utterly.

They were CIA, so the answer is, "possibly, but unlikely." As I am certain you are aware, the fewer who are involved and the less anyone knows, the better.

Well, that's not a fact yet either, but I agree that it is the most likely explanation. Yet before people will accept it as even a hypothesis, they need to have a long list of likely reasons as to why. Hence this hypothesis and the emphasis upon gun-running. After all, it both reminds people about Fast & Furious and establishes Zero as a serial supplier of military weaponry to some very unsavory people, effectively our enemies.
That makes him a traitor. Link that to his revolutionary Marxist past and you have a sale most voter can comprehend.

As an adjunct hypothesis, I think it more likely that Zero didn't want Stevens falling into the wrong hands alive to speak about his rather licentious proclivities.
You are right, many more people will die in all sorts of religious/political configurations. This overall mess is neither the fault of Obama or McCain. I decided over 40 years ago that it was such a mess that it was not worth spending time or energy worrying about. Arabs killing Jews, Muslims killing Muslims, and autocratic Arab rulers using Palestinians to keep a continual proxy fight going with Israel, when they could have made major strides in resolving the problem. Frankly I doubt Mitt will be more successful, and may drag us into a much worse situation that my son may end up having to fight.
As for death tolls. It amazes me the fuss that is being made over 4 deaths, tragic though they are, when over 300 were kill at US facilities during Reagan’s administration and more hundreds killed at two US embassies in Africa, I forget which administration, and over 200 killed with the Lockerbie bombing which seems to be pretty clearly tied with Libya and Gaddifi.
So far as to why our Ambassador was in such a dangerous situation, I have a theory, one of several. He had already been on the ground before the fighting ended and was well liked/respected? by factions of the rebels. This is one reason why he was named Ambassador. Was he a covert CIA operative there during the rebellion?? The very fact that he was there indicates he was quite daring. My son is in Special Forces and I have met some of his buddies. There is a certain bravado in the face of danger they have. It would not surprise me if the Ambassador had it too. He undoubtedly knew about the troubles in Benghazi while he was 500 miles away in the Tripoli embassy. He may have felt he needed to go there, check up on the situation, debrief some of his contacts, make security decisions for the consulate, etc. So, my question is, how was that decision made? Was it his idea, was it suggested he go, was he ordered to go, etc? And he may have gone feeling that he was above the danger. We can’t ask him but we can find out more about his activities before he was named Ambassador.
On a separate but related topic. I have just finished reading about Sandy and looking at 150 photos. People don’t take danger serious enough even when warned. For days there were FReepers saying this was being hyped by the media. Politicians worry about making the right call. Too little and more people die. Too much and the next time people listen even less. [Think the poor seismologists in Italy who are sentenced to jail time for not yelling loud enough about earthquake potential.] Looking at the photos I saw one of water front Fells Point in Baltimore where the Mayor ordered cars removed from low lying areas. No dead cars. Then looked at downtown Hoboken, NJ, an entire fleet of Yellow Cabs drowned as well as many other cars there. Also many in NY, and all along the Jersey Shore and NY state shores. See the huge lines of people trying to gas up their cars. What, no planning?? I made sure my tank was full 4 days before the storm hit and that I was not parked under a tree or in a flood zone. Then there are the people short of food and water. What, no empty bottles to fill with water, or the bathtub? Buy some extra food several days before so you are not in the mad scramble the day before? I went to get a few minor things the day before (I had most of what I need already), and I have never seen my supermarket so crowded. I did loose some windows, but some things can’t be helped, oh, well.
