‘Please don’t leave us:’ Staten Island residents plead for help from Mayor Bloomberg

Outer-borough residents pleaded for help Thursday, claiming their Sandy-ravaged neighborhoods are the forgotten victims of the killer hurricane — and nowhere was the anger more palpable at the storm's Ground Zero: Staten Island.

Even as the city and feds rushed food, water and generators to the borough, residents and their elected officials fumed that Staten Island was being prepped as the starting line for Sunday's New York City Marathon, even as the rest of the island is left to deal with the aftershocks of the mega-storm.

"The notion of diverting even one police officer, one first responder, one asset away from this carnage is beyond irrational,” Councilman James Oddo told the Daily News. Earlier, Oddo called the idea of hosting the marathon as “idiotic” on his Facebook page.

I like Seinfeld’s comment on the New York Marathon — “What’s to see? A guy from Kenya, a woman from Norway and 30,000 losers.”

The marathon starting point is about 1 mile from neighborhoods that were “Katrina’d”. You can’t even tell where the streets used to be and there is National Guard throughout.

Absolutely absurd to devote resources and close traffic for this marathon...

"We are, over the next few days, going to have to work out some procedures to make sure people can get food,” Mayor Bloomberg insisted.

Next few days? Holy shit, this guy is clueless.

Nanny Bloomberg refusing to cancel the Marathon. . . just what NYC needs: more cops and security at the race, and more incoming visitors from God knows where else. I forgot . . .he knows best. He’s the worst thing to happen to NYC in my memory.

They are trying to make like it’s the World Series after 9/11.

Not sure if Bloomberg realizes it, but New Yorkers could care less about 30,000 people running. They would rather have those 30,000 people helping dig out. Would serve New York and the rest of the world good.

I watched Brian Williams’ show last night.

Bloomsburg was getting kudos because he was holding press conferences - attempted to speak in spanish - and had a lively interpeter for the deaf.

Wow.
He has caused gridlock with the 3 passenger rule.
He took time to endorse the Incompetent One citing climate change
And now he will divert resources for this marathon?
Really?

A fear is beginning to well up within me.

No one questions the arrogance of zero, but it seems every socialist/enemy of America is acting as if there will never be a consequence for their act(ions).

Will congress allow the zero regime to escape punishment for their attempt to destroy America.

Will Blooming asshole be re-elected ?

Will Nazi Pelosi get away with garnering support for and from muslims ?

Will the residents of Staten Island NOT react to this travesty of inhumanity ?

I knew Obama, Christi and Bloomberg were making a mistke patting themselves on the back right after the storm. This had to backfire.

"Bloomberg’s WATERLOO.....FINALLY!!! He WILL be IMPEACHED over this....put money on it!!"

Not a chance IMO. Bloomberg bought the city council when he was term limited and they repealed the law. Bloomberg would spend whatever it takes to put down any incipient action by the council this time, as well.
