Richard Mourdock--the Indiana Republican Senate candidate who sparked a controversy during a debate last month when he said he opposes abortion even in the case of rape because "it is something that God intended to happen"--is now trailing Democrat Joe Donnelly by 11 points, a new state poll shows. According to the Howey/DePauw Indiana Battleground Poll released on Friday, Donnelly leads Mourdock 47 percent to 36 percent among likely voters.

You’re exactly right because the trap is always set. Discretion is the better part of valor. We need those seats and hopefully coattails will be long enough.
October 4th, 2012.
"According to the latest Howey/DePauw University poll released last Thursday, Democrat Joe Donnelly leads 40 to 38 percent among likely voters -- that's within the margin of error.
Experts say the third party candidate for Senate may be having a negative affect on Mourdock. The poll shows seven percent of likely voters support Libertarian candidate Andrew Horning."

Neither said anything wrong. The left just likes to look for things they can twist.
The RINO’s follow the left, of course.
The RNC is dead to me and a lot of conservatives for this.
Rasmussen has Mourdock down by only 3 to Donnelly.
45%/42%
There’s still time to help Mourdock!
Get Out The Vote!!!
These were not self-inflicted. Their words were twisted by leftists and the RINO’s fall over themselves running away to donate money to another leftist gay RINO in Massataxes instead.
I guess he could make up for by eating a baby on live TV and placating the left and RINO’s
/sarcasm
I live in Indianapolis and all I see is Mourdock signs. I don’t see how Donnelly can be 11 points up.
"...told me that he believes Obamacare will propel Mourdock into the Senate, despite polls by Howey/DePauw Indiana Battleground (tied at 35%)...."

Nope, it appears Mourdock never had the lead with these clowns.
Mourdock is now on with Mark Levin.
What kind of nut are you? Irreligious one?
We must hold the RNC chairman accountable for these mistakes.

Thanks for the AstroTurf posting from a certified Ovama bundling front group !
Give Axelrod bird troll
The exact same poll shows Romney up +10 in Indiana. Mourdock is running FIFTEEN POINTS behind Romney.
Well, even if Mourdock loses, I think it was a good gamble for conservatives in Indiana to take. Richard Lugar had been in since 1976, and even though he would probably have cruised to re-election, it was time for a change. Indiana is not Maine or Oregon; conservatives can and do win there regularly. That’s why Donnelly has been touting himself as pro-life and conservative (by Democratic standards) in his campaign ads (note I said touting, and not that he was conservative or pro-life - we’ve all seen how that plays out in DC). It’s unfortunate that Mourdock made the comments he did, but he may yet win if some of the closer polls out there are accurate.
I haven’t seen any Donnelly signs either and I live next door to his old district and personally couldn’t bring myself to vote for either one. Mourdock has such a troubling history of extremist comments there is no doubt he truly believes that thehighlight of politics is the chance to inflict your opinion on someone else.
Yeah ok, let the Harry Reid’s 3 million dollar candidate win so Harry can do some more obstructing.
It's completely impossible to obtain a truly random sample in a poll and any poll without any weighting (that is, a completely raw data poll) is utterly worthless.
The landline vs. cellphone issue is one prominent reason why all polls have to be weighted, among others.
They’re lying about what Mourdock said.
The way they write the headlines and speak about it, it sounds as if Mourdock said that God intended the rape to happen.
That is a flat out lie.
He said that if a woman is raped, and then has a baby, then God intended her to have the baby. Killing an innocent baby is just plain wrong. On that point, Mourdock is a hell of a lot better than Romney, who recently said that it’s OK to kill the baby.
And Mourdock is a HELL of a lot better than any Democrat politician, who think it’s OK to kill every baby in sight.
The Christian position is that a baby is a gift of God as well as a physical product of the mother and father. And, incidentally, that is also the position of the Declaration of Independence. The right to life is an inalienable right. The government cannot take it away. Because it is a gift of God.
Which, of course, Obama and any Democrat flatly deny.
Mourdock was right! And if he gave the Democrats an opportunity to twist his words and lie, then we ought to fight back with the truth, not just lie down and take it. The same with Todd Akin. Anything else is letting the Lying Communist Libtards set the rules and define the language.
That also reduced the non-contact problem. Still, the biggest problem is successful response ~ which is down to 9%. Given the ability of small special interest groups to simply distort their numbers in the population greatly by doing nothing more than ALWAYS answering the phone or making those critical callbacks, you really can't get a true random sample ~ but it only compounds the nonsense when you WEIGHT bizarre data that's pre-loaded with a good 10% GBLTs, feminazis and abortion industry participants.
