Why Hispanics Don’t Vote for Republicans [because they tend to favor big government]
NRO ^ | Nov 7 2012 | Heather Mac Donald

The call for Republicans to discard their opposition to immigration amnesty will grow deafening in the wake of President Obama’s victory. Hispanics supported Obama by a margin of nearly 75 percent to 25 percent, and may have provided important margins in some swing states. If only Republicans relented on their Neanderthal views regarding the immigration rule of law, the message will run, they would release the inner Republican waiting to emerge in the Hispanic population.

If Republicans want to change their stance on immigration, they should do so on the merits, not out of a belief that only immigration policy stands between them and a Republican Hispanic majority. It is not immigration policy that creates the strong bond between Hispanics and the Democratic party, but the core Democratic principles of a more generous safety net, strong government intervention in the economy, and progressive taxation. Hispanics will prove to be even more decisive in the victory of Governor Jerry Brown’s Proposition 30, which raised upper-income taxes and the sales tax, than in the Obama election.

Catholicism is the State Religion of Mexico among other countries.

Methinks you are a bit confused here.

Mexico doesn't *have* a state religion, and in fact the PRI (THE major political party in Mexico) has a rather long history of persecuting Catholics, even going as far as using the regular Mexican Army to KILL both Catholic clergy, and their congregations in the 1920's-1930's. Google the Christero War to get informed.

FWIW, the Catholic Church did not receive the minimal guarantees of their right to worship under provision of the latest Mexican constitution until the 1980's.

If THAT is being 'the State Religion' I'll eat my hat...

Infowarrior is correct. For the record, here is a list of countries that have some form of Christianity as their state or official religion:

Catholic
• Alsace-Moselle
• Costa Rica
• Liechtenstein
• Malta
• Monaco
• Vatican City (theocracy)

Eastern Orthodox
• Greece
• Finland: Finnish Orthodox Church (unofficial, not the “state religion” of Finland, per say, but has a special relationship with the Finnish state.)

Lutheran
• Denmark (Church of Denmark)
• Iceland (Church of Iceland)
• Norway (Church of Norway)

Reformed
• Tuvalu (Church of Tuvalu)

Anglican
• England (Church of England)
• Scotland (Church of Scotland)

As you can see, outside of the Vatican, Catholicism is the only the official "state religion" in a handful of tiny, obscure nations. Having a large percentage of Catholic citizens doesn't make it the "official religion" anymore than it makes tacos the "official food" of Mexico. This list also shows you that liberal ranting about how "Christian rule" is "just as bad as Islamic rule" is total BS. In the RARE case that a country does have Christianity enshrined in the Constitution as the official "state religion", not one of them is a dictatorship that jails non-Christians and forces everyone else to convert to the religion or die.

The Hispanic knows the Democrat will work to create a easy pathway to citizenship. There is a reason why Democrats want more Hispanic citizens. Democrats have found that they can easily buy the Hispanic vote with social programs loaded with freebies. It is a symbiotic relationship which guarantees huge numbers of Hispanics becoming citizens. The Hispanic uses his vote potential as political capitol. The Hispanic vote uses the Democrat politician for immigration reforms that will enable more Hispanics to become citizens and to get more freebies.

This mechanism threatens the Republican Party who sees the danger of unrestrained Hispanic immigration and citizenship. The Archilles’ heel of course, is the freebie. By eliminating the freebie, there is no marketing for the vote. That would take a big chunk out of the mechanism.

zero spent about 5 trillion extra dollars on his constituents.
this led to an extra 2 million votes which is what he won by.
brilliant strategy
hispanics are on the public dole about twice the rate of whites.
the future is not bright .

I’ve suspected as much for years. Like Rush said, it’s difficult to defeat Santa Claus.

If we don't secure our borders we are done as a Republic. That is just fact, the principled stance is a closed secure border with an immigration policy that includes vetting the people that want to contribute positively to American Society. We don't need any more wards of the state or criminals. Because if you are here illegally you are a criminal from the very start. If you are an anchor baby your parents are criminal as well since they didn't take the baby back to its native land.

“And what do they do? They want to change America into the hell hole they just left.”

Seems to mimic the eastern europeans who came here to escape oppression, who turn to the very same ideas that made them flee where they came from.

Absolutely amazing.

A better place for them all would have been Cuba, so they could be embraced by the all-emcompassing love of Mr. Castro. /s/

IMHO

'Why Hispanics Don’t Vote for Republicans' [because they tend to favor big government]
I don't think it's so much they favor Big Government, but because (I'll prolly be called a racist for this) in their DNA they are still all peasants & peons, and cannot make a decision on their own. For hundreds of years they have been told what to do and when to do it by their 'Masters in Spain' (or France for a while), and in return they get to keep a few bags of corn to just get by until the next year. Today that 'Master in Spain' is the demonRAT party.

A similar mindset is in Europeans when it comes to Guns. They just cannot grasp American's love for guns and why we ape-poop over any Gun Control. I've tried and tried to explain that 'Guns Mean Freedom' to my wife's German relatives and they just don't get it. Too many centuries of being ruled by Kings and Emperors and told to stay out of the King's Forest and away from The King's Deer. That mindset is a good part why Hitler had no problem taking all guns away from Germans, he was their new 'king' so he knew best.

Caveat -- the European exception would be those here who escaped the 'Yoke of Communism' and the USSR boot on their necks (thanks for nuttin' FDR). They DO value and grasp the Freedoms America has (for now) and pretty darn quick.

Well said but, the game is on anyway whther we want it to be or not. wWe need e-card identification, fines for employers employing illegal immigrants, sero ccess to social services unless one has some sort of legal status, renewed social security card practices, etc. I’m just saying this is our main goal. We may have to play games ourselves to get this but, this is our end game. Also, we need to do a much better job presenting the financial data as justification for these desires. We need to stop saying we’re against ‘illegal immigration’ and start saying we’re for ‘financially responsible immigration’. It’s time to join the fight and stop complaining. The game is on!!!!

Yeah, good strategy for re-election by Zero, very bad strategy for LT. We may have to go through what many countries have gone through——>socialism-—>rude awakening-—>back to capitalism.
