E-Mails From Biographer to a Third Party Led to Petraeus
NYT ^ | 11-10-2012 | SCOTT SHANE and ERIC SCHMITT

The F.B.I. investigation that led to the resignation of David H. Petraeus as C.I.A. director on Friday began with a complaint several months ago about “harassing” e-mails sent by Paula Broadwell, Mr. Petraeus’s biographer, to an unidentified third person, a government official briefed on the case said Saturday....

The person who complained about harassing messages from Ms. Broadwell, according to the official, was not a family member or a government official. One Congressional official who was briefed on the matter on Friday said senior intelligence officials had explained that the F.B.I. investigation “started with two women.”

...A senior intelligence official said Saturday that Mr. Clapper had learned of Mr. Petraeus’s situation only when the F.B.I. notified him about 5 p.m. on Tuesday. That night and the next day, the official said, the two men discussed the situation, and Mr. Clapper told Mr. Petraeus “that he thought the right thing to do would be to resign,” the intelligence official said.

“House asks Clinton to testify on Benghazi, but she declines due to scheduling conflict” http://washingtonexaminer.com/house-asked-clinton-to-testify-on-benghazi-but-she-declines-due-to-scheduling-conflict/article/2513151

Hmmm. I wonder what would happen if one of us ignored a subpena to testify before Congress because of a scheduling conflict?

Sorry. Got a meeting then. See you later.

The confusion happened when the FBI was instructed to investigate “strange” e-mails.

“deliberately appointed and retained an obviously compromised CIA director to have something to blackmail him”

Could the blackmail have been why Petraeus so strongly supported ending DADT?

“I do not remember anyone this was done to in my lifetime”

I think that military officers have a different standard. They have a code of ethics that forbid extramarital affairs. Isn’t that is a long standing ethic.

Can’t fight with someone who can’t keep a promise to his wife.

Head of CIA....having an affair compromises one’s security clearance...I don’t much care about anyone else...Pertaeus has disgraced his country and his uniform...and probably contributed to the murder of all those who died in Benghazi....that makes him dirt.

If he has any sense of shame he will go before congress and testify to EVERYTHING even if it means telling secrets. Otherwise the guy is no better than the Destroyer in Chief at the WH

Remember, Petreaus replaced the General in Afghanistan who Obama recalled because the General said bad things about Obama. I believe Obama ended his career.

Obama has lotsa patterns.

Why do you think half his team is leaving.....unprecedented.

Idiot Petraues.  Perfect opportunity to get setup and I don't think she helped him fall on his sword, several times, for free.  She got paid from someone.

Oh well, time to turn the page:

"All In" that was the title of the book?  Really?  LOL...Ironic.

Personally, I'd hit her but, I'm not married nor the General of a badazz army or the head of the CIA.  If I wuz, beleive me, I'd be high enough without compromising my country or looking like I could be.

Career disappation light implodes, Epically.

Pull that hair down and shake it babe!!:

Changed my mind:

Actually, it doesn't, but it's a nice myth.

If one has the affair while maintaining a security clearance it puts you at risk for blackmail. You think you know something about clearances and I can guarantee you it does indeed....just as being an active alcoholic does and having money problems does...

Eisenhower, as chief of the European theater during WWII had an affair with his woman driver - I think her name was Kay Summersby - and then he went on to serve two terms as president.
