Free Republic Media Watchers Target NBCNews
self | 11/11/12 | Chiller

Posted on 11/11/2012 8:23:40 AM PST by chiller

Most all of us agree Main Stream Media (MSM, Old Media, the Alphabets....) was a factor in this cycle. It began with WH shill George Stephanopolous' planted debate question to Romney about contraception, and continued through the ignored tragedies in the wake of Sandy on Staten and Long Islands that Obama had supposedly healed with his 2 hour visit. Our goal is to hasten MSM demise by concentrating our efforts. Please join us.

It's difficult to turn off ALL media all the time, so let's agree to one at a time. NBC News programs are my suggestion and consensus choice of our Sunday Morning News Show thread. They're all bad, but NBC News seems the worst offender. )

We will have an affect if we concentrate our efforts rather than dilute the effort over the huge spectrum of TV News.)

We know NBC/MSNBC's ratings are weak and getting weaker across the various platforms, perhaps even extending beyond news. My goal, our goal, is to put them out of business with a final killing financial shiv. Old media proved they're not quite dead...yet. I say kill 'em.)

Start today by avoiding NBC News programs. Spend those minutes and hours elsewhere, even if it's one of the other alphabets to get the mainstream spin. (Remember fundamentals; one at a time)

The sentiments of hundreds of us on this thread are likely shared by a good portion of the FR nation. And certainly another 47% of the country share some or all of our sentiments. Simply ignore NBC News. They're irrelevant.)

Step one; A noticeable loss of numbers for NBC News will add up and be noticed. Cable and satellite digital companies certainly know who's watching what, when. If they know, advertisers know.

Lost viewership = lost impressions to advertisements = reduced sales of advertised products = loss of sponsors.

I'm hesitant to boycott commercial enterprises (the companies that advertise), but they must know they'll be wasting their money on a huge portion of their audience if they advertise on NBC News.

We'll not be exposed to your ads, and if we are, we sure as hell won't patronize them. Something's got to change. We'll start here and now.

I agree 100%. Companies spend advertising dollars to increase sales. The threat of sales declining because of their advertising will cause them great concern.

OK, over 100 comments and aside from Comcast, who now owns the major part of NBC, and the minority still owned by General Electric, we STILL don’t know who are the major sponsors of NBC News.

You could have said Micrsoft but earlier in the year they pulled out of their relationship with NBC and now MSNBC is formally known as NBCNews.com.

So... Who are NBC news’s major sponsors????

Just give me one, and I’ll contact them today.

Tripe is an iffy product. Some folks do love it. Others are extremely turned off by it.

My wife loved it and other things as a child. She ordered it a few months ago thinking she would still like it, and after one attempted bite had to order something else.

She just couldn’t do it.

Don’t watch NBC, ABS, CBS for anything whatsoever other than a pro or college football game I want to see, nothing else.

Tell them the only time you tune into their station from now on is to TIVO the games so you can zip past their ad.... :)

If it goes viral and we include many other conservative websites to all boycott news sponsors starting with nbc, then it works.

With a little buzz that spreads to 1/3rd of 1/2 of the voting population, we're no longer talking about maybe 1 or 2 Nielsen books. And this is effortless for anyone to do.

Cable companies also certainly know who's watching what, even without a Nielsen report.....it's the digital age where everything is tracked.

Avoiding the ads on NBC News also reduces the amount of product we eventually buy. Very hard to quantify that part of it, but its safe to assume that exposing oneself to a product can only increase the likelihood of a purchase at some future time..

If letters to sponsors help, all the better.

I can’t find a list and on the internet replay its without sponsors. Seems since they don’t buy the net feed they don’t get any net spots.
You will just have to wait until 6:30 pm eastern when it runs.
I will do the nasty job of having to actually watch the BS.

Nobody in my family has watched any of the MSM networks for years.

That’s a nice pleasant letter. It doesn’t threaten the product or business but lets them know where their advertising dollars are being wasted.

If you really want to hit back at the media it's really simple: DUMP CABLE (specially Comcast) and DirecTV/DISH Network.

I did it back in August and haven't looked back. More time to educate myself, my family and my friends, and more time for my hobbies.

My TV now has OTA (Over-The-Air) channels only, so good luck with figuring out what I'm watching, which is typically only on Sunday's for Football.

I applaud your approach, but the only thing I watch on tv is sports, and without cable, you starve.

Why not do both?

You idea is absolutely spot on but surely it doesn’t take more than a few seconds to a few minutes to e-mail an advertiser on MSNBC. The conservatives I know are good at multitasking. They can walk and chew gum at the same time.

They’re leftists and leftists are not mainstream. People need to stop referring to them as if they are.

I routinely call them the Marxist mainstream media. The MMSM

I do admit that I'm a big NFL fan, and cancelling DirecTV in August, knowing that the NFL Network was going to be FREE this year, was a difficult thing for me to do.

After a few days shaking uncontrollably in detox at the beginning of the season, I'm ok.

Tripe

I'm thinkin' it's like Forest Gump said:

Tripe is the fruit of the cow. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. There's, um, tripe kebabs, tripe creole, tripe gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There's pineapple tripe and lemon tripe, coconut tripe, pepper tripe, tripe soup, tripe stew, tripe salad, tripe and potatoes, tripe burger, tripe sandwich... That's, that's about it.”

To: DoughtyOne; All

(Maybe show that last one to your wife)

Yeah, never had it myself, but I’ll try anything once. I had Jamaican “Manish water” one time. It was pretty good, except of course, for the goat intestine.

But back to the tripe, I’m thinking the most palatable preparations on that list would probably be barbequed, deep fried, or gumbo.

As for the rest of the queasy stomachs in the world, we’ve probably all had it in the form of sausage, salami, bologna or hot dogs.

Mmmm mmmm mmmm. All beef hot dogs.

Sorry, all this talk about tripe reminds me of NBC and MSLSD “News” content.

Here is the sponsor list for Sunday night,I will see if it changes tomorrow night.

1. Humana Medicare supplement—evidently its the time of year that you can change providers for medicare—not really a clean play,IMHO.Besides to oppose them you have to go to aarp, much worse.

2.Flat rate box usps—doable but self defeating since if the post office goes bust we get to pick up the tab.
3.Tena twist—good one whatever it is.
4.Shop small—also don’t know what it is.
5. Restasis— for dry eyes—good one to go after.
6.Medicare open enrollment—tough to go after.
7.Oil and nat gas—impossible to go after.
8.Fidelty—investments—easy to go after
9.Cymbalta—pain relief —easy to go after.
10.Dr. Scholls foot pads—easy to go after.

So of the ten sponsors we have 5 that are easy to go after which makes it even easier to target nbc sponsors.
