If you see ten troubles coming down the road, you can be sure that nine will run into the ditch before they reach you.

— President Calvin Coolidge

For five years I have consistently maintained that Mitt Romney could not be elected President of the United States. The only thing that changed was Barack Obama’s terrible debate performance and I made the unfortunate mistake of going with the herd toward “he can win now.” A year ago — to be precise, November 8th of last year — I wrote that Mitt Romney would be the nominee, conservatism would die, and Barack Obama would win. Regrettably, I told you so.

As I wrote would happen, Mitt Romney tried to blur lines with Barack Obama. He did not defend social conservatism, but let those attacks go unanswered. He did not articulate strong fiscal conservatism and he never repudiated Romneycare, thereby failing to make any credible attacks on Obamacare.

Conservatives and conservative institutions who embraced him early on are now scrambling to make excuses. They were so invested in a failure they cannot bring themselves to admit Mitt Romney and his campaign were failures. They were, to Republicans, what green energy is to Barack Obama.

Because these conservatives cannot accept that they were wrong, they must conclude that conservatism itself is somehow broken.

The darndest thing is I’m listening to all this handwringing and most of it is coming from a lot of people who’ve never really been conservative or supported conservatism. These people hated our ideas and values when we were winning and now choose this opportunity to sell us out the way they’ve always wanted. The conservative herd is headed off a cliff led by a consultant class that would otherwise now be swimming in pools full of dollar bills like Scrooge McDuck.

These people would have us believe that we must make fundamental changes to draw in new voters. We must exile social conservatives to bring in young people and single women. We must exile fiscal conservatives to bring in hispanic and black voters. With whatever is left from having exiled both, these geniuses would have us believe the Democrats in whose camp these groups already find themselves will just sit back and let it happen.

The Republican Party will never out Democrat the Democrats. Conservatives will never out liberal Liberals. We should not try.

I believe conservatism is the correct solution to our problems. I believe the Republican Party has a better chance of advancing conservatism than the Democrats. I believe many Republicans and conservatives embraced a failed, flawed messenger and now, instead of admitting their mistake, would fundamentally transform the Republican Party and the conservative movement into something it isn’t so they do not have to admit they were wrong all along. I believe that many of our present party leaders have no desire to advance any public policy other than that which they think is best poll tested to keep them in power and advance their career, regardless of the soundness of the policy or the intellectual underpinnings of idea.

No thanks.

At RedState, our front page contributors will continue to be pro-life. Our conservatism is not negotiable with the ebbs and flows of electoral politics.

We will continue to fight the left, but we will also continue to clean up the right.

Our Republican leaders in Congress are intent now on caving on virtually every issue. Karl Rove is signaling he will play in primaries to fight against conservatives. Even some conservatives think we should give up the fight against Obamacare, set up state healthcare exchanges, and succumb.

I have no intention of giving up the fight. I have no intention of succumbing. More bluntly, I have no intention of standing athwart history yielding to the Republicans who got us to this point and you shouldn’t either.

I’m pretty sure that running a more conservative candidate is no longer the answer.

The demographics have changed. Our Republic has been breached, it is the citizenry that must change before we can right our ship and they don’t want to change.

Call me doom and gloom, but my eyes are open.

It is not Obama that we must fear, it is the citizenry that would elect him president.

I’m sorry.

I posted so many responses that I don’t know to which one you disagree.

In respect to ‘Mitt’ Romney, I was never happy with him, regardless of the fact that he is a Mormon. Although he and Hairy being of the same religion is quite a bit more than troubling.

Is the Mormon Church for abortion? For placing homosexuals on pedestals above normal people? For handing out free Trojans to college girls? For teaching youngsters in school the glories of homosexual love-making? (etc., etc.)

Hairy is because he’s a DemocRAT!

What we have done is not lose, what we have done is sell out.

China is winning.

Everything. China is selling billions more to America than America sells to China - and it is increasing.

We have no markets left.

We buy EVERYTHING.

We must make things.

Now.

Don’t feel bad.

My point is we concentrate on everything except on what we buy from China.

Every store sells stuff. Same as it always has. All the packaging is similar to what it was before.

Now however everything is imported from China.

NO AMERICAN JOBS are supported by anything anymore.

It’s all China.

This is a huge problem, and cost us the last election.

The problem is not improving.

The problem is getting worse.

Remember one thing. According to the Bible, God chose Obama to be our leader. We don’t know the reason.

I think it was the people who chose Obama, God only allowed it, just like he allows every thing else that we do.

In a fair election Romney would have won.

A fair election would be one in which the major media remained unbiased, not siding with one side or the other and not intentionally working hard and relentlessly to prop up and protect the democrat while discrediting and destroying the republican at every opportunity, ala Candy Crowell.

A fair election, by modern standards, would be one in which there was no more than the usual minimal democrat voter fraud - say 2% or 3%.

Not the massive fraud seen in swing states this year where some precincts saw voter turn out of 10%, 20%, 30% and even 40% more than the actual number of residents or number of registered voters.

A fair election would also include a guarantee that all candidates had proven their constitutional qualifications to hold the office.

If we had a military lead by officers sincerely intent on keeping their oath of office, they would step in, thrown this illegitimate government out in the street, and bring back a legitimate constitutional government.

I would have been happier voting for an atheist than Obama but that doesn’t mean I would want to vote for an atheist.

Expecting voters to know what’s going on and their reliance on MSM is just part of why our great loss. While there are examples of fraud which may close up the gap, the gap is too big to blame the loss on fraud ...Expecting GOP E’s to address media bias is another but this is where the fault lies..

Romney ran a “Johnny One Note Campaign”. Used a poison dart blow gun when he should have used a cannon loaded with grape shot because he had pleanty of stuff he could fill that cannon barrel with..

They failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obama’s energy policies..(a socialist construct never branded as such) and a bread and butter issue which reaches every into “demographics” pocketbook...The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. Including rampant corruption . Some were very briefly touched most weren’t and Benghazi was left to languish. Then there is Obama’s personal extravagance and behavior refusing to visit Nashville after its disaster showing up at New Orleans after Mitt visited it.

Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his.

In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Charter PAC senate campaign played games. His material never warned voters that IF OBAMA GETS REELECTED AND SENATE RETAINED OBAMACARE AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED Let alone tie into or cover the formentioned grape shot which would have perhaps changed that body. I don’t recall any of that material directed toward that fact.

Finally they didn’t believe the polls which turned out were dead on. Even going as far as setting up focus groups which could have looked into what’s going on . Even to the point of going out to local eateries and bars and eavesdrop into conversations and pick up on topics being discussed.(chat rooms twitter too contrived)

Our local small population (-8000) rural blue county GOP had at the outset good and growing attendence at their meetings 50 plus. At the meeting the Thursday before the election only about a dozen people showed up and I knew we were in trouble .

Nuts...This loss is inexcuseable, while I trully don’t believe Mitt Romney would never continence losing, I’m begining to wonder if many GOPE’s didn’t want to see O care go ..

But if you read the rest of the subject you can see a great contradiction in what Paul said.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

So if we read it the way it sounds then not only paul and peter and the other apostles but even Jesus were evil because they were killed by these same authorities.

I will also mention that John in rev said our fight was against spiritual wickedness in high places, and he did not mean in heavenly places because satan was cast down to earth
when the child of God went to be with God, the spiritual wickedness is in high places here on earth.

The American Dream ended last week for what we should now call the Central Socialist Government of America.

The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind. A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, homosexuals, Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the "forever needy," the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other "fellow travelers" has ended Norman Rockwell's America. The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch...the Pit Bull is in the back yard!!!!!

The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their black puppet to bring us into the New World Order!!!!!

Our side ran two candidates who couldn't even win their own Home States, and Circus fat Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing "post Sandy" tribute that elevated the "Commander-in Chief" to Mother Teresa status. People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired!!

You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots..not moderates--not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status. Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their Sacred Honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to "white guilt" and political correctness.

Those fools who continue to say that 'Diversity is our strength' simply don't know what the hell they're talking about

To: AppyPappy; All

“Rom 13:1 MKJV Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God.”

In our country we have a constitution that rests its authority on the “consent of the people for and by the people”. We the People are the “higher authorities that have been ordained of God” that we are to be subject to. The people that have been elected are the expressions of our collective authority; they are the face of our expressed morality and ethics as a nation. No tyrants, no Kings to blame, our national failures are caused by the populace in the collective sense! Problem: By the Popular rejection of our God heritage, we are rejecting Godly wisdom in how the affairs of our nation are to be run. There are no corrupt kings that we can “blame”(since “we the people” are the highest authorities of the land) for leading us away from Godliness hence an avenue of plausible “blamelessness” on the part of the collective electorate is closed to us as a nation.

God will not be a party to ungodliness and must at some point withdraw the authority “of an ungodly people” to regulate themselves via republican forms of government as provided in our Federal and States’ constitutions. We have rejected the peace, wisdom and self order that flows from Mount Zion, hence we have chosen the gloom and doom of Mount Sinai as well as coming rule of tyrants and dictators under whom the righteous as well as the unrighteous will suffer!

God has given “we the people” over to our collective self folly. We have behaved and chosen foolishly, thus we have elected fools to rule over us!

To amplify your posting....remember the Hebrew midwives who FEARED GOD and refused to kill the Hebrew males upon birth despite the edict of the “higher authority” know as Pharoah?

There are trigger points where Godly people must resist even “higher authorities”. Defense of families and children is one trigger point...governments must never pass laws that lead to the moral and physical destruction of children and families! I would advocate a move away policy for children subject to homosexual indoctrination in the California schools, if not outright armed rebellion!

That is a good example which i had not even thought of.
and here is the nitty gritty

Acts 5
29
Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than men!

30
The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.

These were the authorities.

My solution or rather plan of action... The republican leadership should bait the media with news of an major announcement, buy air time if needed. Have Rubio stand before the public with the republican leadership behind him and flat out say...
“Elections have consequences, the people have chosen, we will stand down, we will not filibuster, we will not obstruct, we will allow all of the presidents plans to go forward, ...all of them.” “The plan will be the President’s, the consequences his also”.
......
Let it burn. Watch unemployment rise, watch QE4, QE5, QU6 destroy the retirement savings of a generation, watch secessionist movements gel, watch unrest in the inner cities, watch the dollar be replaced by the yuan.

“Mitt Romney did not defend social conservatism, ...did not articulate strong fiscal conservatism and he never repudiated Romneycare, thereby failing to make any credible attacks on Obamacare.”
— Mitt Romney is a Progressive Republican and he did exactly what Progressive Republicans do.

“Conservatives and conservative institutions who embraced him early on are now scrambling to make excuses...Because these conservatives cannot accept that they were wrong, they must conclude that conservatism itself is somehow broken.”
— The “Conservatives” who conclude that Conservatism is broken never were Conservatives in the first place, they are Progressives, and their role is to destroy Conservatism.

“The darndest thing is I’m listening to all this handwringing and most of it is coming from a lot of people who’ve never really been conservative or supported conservatism.”
— They sound an awful lot like the “Conservatives” and “Conservative institutions” who embraced Romney early on, don’t they? They are Progressives.

“The Republican Party will never out Democrat the Democrats.”
— Actually, the Republican and Democrat parties enable each other, they work together. It’s all a grand ruse. Both are Progressive.

“I believe the Republican Party has a better chance of advancing conservatism than the Democrats.”
— The Republican party and the Democrat party are really one massive, all-inclusive Progressive party.

“We will continue to fight the left, but we will also continue to clean up the right.”
— We’ll be wasting precious time if we keep trying to “clean up” the right. Progressive Republicans are not and never will be Conservatives.

“Our Republican leaders in Congress are intent now on caving on virtually every issue.”
— They always are, and they always do. That’s the role of the Progressive Republican. Nothing the Progressive Democrats do is ever undone by the Progressive Republicans, because the Progressive Republicans want all of those things, too.

“Karl Rove is signaling he will play in primaries to fight against conservatives.”
— Karl Rove has been fighting against Conservatives for at least 12 years. He is a Progressive Republican.

“Even some conservatives think we should give up the fight against Obamacare, set up state healthcare exchanges, and succumb.”
— Listen to what you’re saying. Anyone who thinks we should succumb to Obamacare IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE AND NEVER HAS BEEN ONE. Those people are and always were Progressive Republicans.

There is a sick joke being played on Conservatives by Progressives, and if we don’t figure it out fast we will quickly lose everything we have left.

There have been only two Conservative presidents in the last hundred years – Calvin Coolidge and Ronald Reagan. Only two. It’s not a fair fight. It’s two against one – Progressives, both Republicans and Democrats, against Conservatives – and therein lies the sick joke.

Conservatives have been told all along that they belong in the Republican party, that Conservatives and Republicans are the same. Actually Democrats and Republicans belong in the same party and Conservatives should stand alone.

The Progressive Republicans have deluded Conservatives into believing that the worst thing they could do is form a third party. I wonder why? Could it be that if Conservatives left it would be harder for the Progressive Republicans to win an election? Could it be that the voter would then be presented with an honest choice between a Progressive and a Conservative instead of a false choice between a Progressive Republican and a Progressive Democrat? Could it be that if Conservatives left the Republican party the game would be over?

We no longer have the luxury of time. The Progressives have almost completed their task. It’s time to leave the Progressive Republican party behind.
