The independent states of America: Tens of thousands demand to secede from U.S.

Bid for freedom: People from the states marked in red have lodged petitions asking to break away from the rest of the United States since Obama returned to the White House

Although America carried President Obama confidently into a second term last Tuesday - not everyone is jumping for joy at the prospect of four more years.

Tens of thousands have put their names to secession petitions in 20 states, asking that they peacefully become independent from the rest of the country.

The documents have been lodged on a government website We The People - and Texas has almost enough people behind its petition to warrant an official White House response.

your definition of patriotism is as narrow as Jim Robinson’s definition of conservative.

Right, you probably shouldn't be crapping on the boss.

My definition of patriotism has nothing to do with democrats all the way back to Jackson, maybe farther. That includes Clinton, Carter, LBJ, FDR, the Kennedys, the unions, the mafia, CPUSA, the segregationists, Jim Crow, George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Robert Byrd, the Klan, NAACP, the Dixiecrats etc etc etc. You admit association with that crap.

Not only that, unlike you, I don't join in any RAT games, bipartisanship always means accepting some part of socialism.

I'm sorry to hear of your friends, if they are truly conservatives, they should get the hell out of there because this mess is going to last a long time. I hear there are tons of good deals on foreclosed homes with the banks. If your friends are socialists, then good luck.

Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in a city/cesspool like that.

Mathews. But he’s a drunk, what’s your excuse?

My excuse is: I'm NOT a drunk.

Not if we want to save this republic. Allies are always required. We took the help of absolutist Bourbon France and Spain to preserve our Revolution and our experiment in Republican govt. We bravely put forward our Monroe Doctrine in full knowledge that it would be backed by the white ensigns of the Royal navy. We allied with some of the most heinous despots because they stood with us against the far greater evil of Communism. I agree that sometimes the idea of alliance is not welcome. FDR’s egregious acceptance of the evils of segregation in order to advance his New Deal is such a case. But to invoke the concept that ideological purity is the way to overcoming our budding fascist Amerika is IMO shortsighted and wrong.

Save it for whom? The abortionists? The sodomites? The illegal invaders? The godless statists and socialists? The corrupt crony capitalists? The globalists?

No thank you. I’ll stick with God, life, family, guns, borders, constitution, country and liberty!! The good old fashioned American way.

"The abortionists? The sodomites? The illegal invaders? The godless statists and socialists? The corrupt crony capitalists? The globalists?"

If that's your view of America outside the realm of FR then there's no point in continuing what I'd hoped would be a thoughtful discussion. My ancestors, when they came here in Black 47 were called papists, followers of the antichrist, disloyal, un American. they were described as people to be feared and not trusted. My great great great grandfather ascended Maryes Heights 150 years ago. He fought to save this Union and yet his church was burned his parish's school and students attacked. His grandson went to the Argonne and his great grandson to the Bulge. They fought against intolerance and for this country, their country. It saddens me when I see attitudes so similar to those that greeted my forebears being repeated today. My goal is a return to the idea of liberty, individual, political, and economic. As a teen I had the great experience to sit and talk with Bill buckley. His vision of Liberty is one I still maintain and if I find an ally in a homosexual or an atheist or an immigrant I will open my arms to them. years ago I had asudent, a 12 year old Vietnamese girl, her family was here illegally. Having large numbers of immigrants I would ask the kids to draw the flag of where they came from, and on the back of the index card tell why they came to America. This was 18 years after the fall of Saigon, but this girl drew the flag of the republic of Vietnam. On the back was one word.FREEDOM. That's my belief and philosophy. I am truly sorry that it seems to clash with yours.

The states haven’t petitions but groups within the states. I would think those petitioners need to petition the governor of their states and then the state governments would petition the Feds to secede.

Does anyone here know the procedure?

Since I am not receiving any compensation I don’t think Jim Robison is someone I’d address as boss. If you’ve followed the discussio you will see that I have engaged Mr. Robinson on an intelllectual level. As to my friends. I do have friends who are not conservative. I have friends who are very conservative. Friendship is not something i base on politics. Clearly you would feel concern for my friend on S.I who lost much. He’s an NYPD Lt. e’s active in conservative politics. He works hard and often for the ideas of liberty. Oh wait... he’s homosexual so all ill should befall him. I often visit Maine. Always found the people open, tolerant and very helpful. Haven’t been there for a while, but I think despite the evidence here that the people around US 1 from Ogunquit to Bar Harbor still hold those attributes.

Your forebears were good people and were wronged by bigots, however, they would be treated the same way today by the very people you defend. Check out the plight of the Boy Scouts for example.

In other words, your ancestors were real Catholics, people of faith...not a bunch of social-justice, baby-killing packer/munchers.

I would be all in for a new federation as long as the new Constitution makes even a small display of liberalism a hanging offense.

Without real Justice, "social justice" is just 'social'.

Instead of the states seceding why not have counties secede? Like the electoral map showing all of the red counties......leave the highly populated areas that voted for O to fend for themselves!

By the way, in Tx we are on our own electrical grid, have plenty of food, we have ports, and we are armed....just sayin!!!

With what TJ stated, maybe there aren’t ENOUGH States — when a megalopolis overwhelms a State’s influence, then you have microcosms of our national conditions.

Split NY, IL, CA ... apportion EV’s primarily by House districts, and everyone gets better representation.

Harder to organize, and if you can’t get your neighboring counties to go with you, you’re isolated and can’t be self sufficient. It needs to be a large enough contiguous landmass to be self sufficient and organized. My belief is that if Texas were to pull the trigger, the southern and central counties would self-evacuate because they’d figure out pretty quick the fun time had ended.

Thank you, Mr. Robinson!

Unfortunately, enemies try to make your efforts seem futile, but as long as you and John can maintain FR, I will be here, spreading the word to my friends, and trying to educate them as to the REAL “American Way!”

You are such a ROCK!

Thanks for all you do!
