Mich. pastor with necrophilia fantasy charged with killing fiancee's daughter

Broomfield Township, Mich. -- As police frantically worked to figure out how his fiancée's 24-year-old daughter had vanished, a Michigan pastor who had turned to God to shed his violent past went to his flock with a request to pray for her.

But all along, authorities say, he knew the sordid truth about where the young mother was.

The pastor, ex-convict John D. White, later confessed to killing the woman to fulfill a fantasy of necrophilia, police said Friday. White drank four or five beers before going to the woman's mobile home and repeatedly striking her head with a mallet and strangling her with a zip tie, according to court documents.

Bill Handel on KFI does a bit every Halloween — “Necrophilia: the victimless crime.”

There is a certain logic there...

I would like to agree with you, but women don’t seem to understand what danger they put themselves in at times. It’s important that they understand these people are out there, and take even extreme precautions to avoid them.

I’m a guy, and I am very cautious about my surroundings and the people I associate with. Allowing this guy to watch her kid, was a real mistake. Perhaps if she had Googled the guy, or talked to others about what she planned to do, she would have been warned.

For some crimes, I don’t advocate the criminal EVER be put back on the street. The guy can have his ‘come to Jesus’ moment behind bars.

We are too lenient as a people.

This perp was a pastor. Most people don’t expect the clergy to have criminal records or tendencies.

I once heard a parole board member say that prison converts to God are among the riskiest to parole. He explained that far too many feel that they can use the devil as an excuse and never feel any true remorse. He wasn't anti Christian or anything, he just felt that true converts knew that they alone were responsible and were less likely to reoffend.

I’m pretty standoffish about going to strangers homes and especially letting them in mine. I just like to know people well before letting them get too familiar with my home.

If it was a large established church, I would agree with that.

These days any person can start a flock if they want.

And then again, even some established churches are problematic aren’t they.

We used to use young girls that had been referenced to us. That being said, we seldom had a baby sitter. We were very protective of our kids. Even so, just allowing our kids to associate with known people didn’t prevent problems.

It’s a tough world out there.

More background here on White and the past murder. This guy should have never gotten out of prison.

14 people in the congregation.

That sounds more like a pot luck dinner than a church.

Looks like the guy had been convicted of murder at least twice before. In the first one he got out on appeal and the charge was amended to something less.

On the second he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

True, but the daughter allowed that person to babby-sit her child. That got him in the door. At some point, his urges took over.
