The debate within the Republican Party over whether to make a deal regarding immigration has quickly reached full steam.
In the wake of a crushing defeat in the presidential election, partly fueled by Latino voters, Republican leaders in Congress have indicated they are ready to return to the negotiating table on a comprehensive immigration reform bill, a proposal that's been dead for five years. But some conservative commentators and lawmakers have held up their hands as if to say, not so fast.
Hardline figures such as Iowa Rep. Steve King have outright rejected the idea of an immigration compromise. Other conservatives have made more subtle arguments against compromise on immigration policy.
Writing in The New York Times last weekend, Ross Douthat dismissed Republicans' rush to embrace immigration reform that contains a pathway to citizenship as a "legislative pander" that will not guarantee that Latino voters embrace the GOP. In addition, he argues that a leftward shift on immigration policy could turn off white-working class voters from the Republican Party.

Immigration reform should include increased quotas from Northern European contries.
Preferably from former Soviet satellite countries.
ABC News is totally owned by democrats. They hate us - all their ‘advice’ needs to be seen through that filter.

I’ll bet JORDAN FABIAN has never voted for a Republican in his life - and that he uses the excuse that he’s torn - if only - if only - but when it come down to it, he ALWAYS votes for the dem... How these people can lie to themselves is beyond me. Can you imagine one of us saying we wanted to ‘help’ democrats win more - and our solution was for them to accept our positions and be us... All under the pretense that we ‘CARED SO MUCH’ about them? We’d look like fools - or idiots - or something that doesn’t seem to bother Jordan Fabian.
The ONLY way the GOP wins is to promise the “Freebie Nation” more “freebies” than the Democrats.
Looks to me like another spoiled brat from Maryland (probably had rich parents) who is enamored of the hispanic culture.
Jordan Fabian is the political editor for Univision Newss English-language portal. Prior to joining Univision in 2011, he worked as a staff writer at The Hill newspaper in Washington, DC where he covered Congress and the 2012 presidential campaign.
Jordan has appeared on MSNBC, Fox News and C-SPAN, and has contributed to a number of nationally-syndicated radio programs. He also freelanced for Hispanic Business magazine.
Jordan hails from Olney, MD and is a lifelong resident of the Washington area. He graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor of arts in history.
The Republicans are being played like a group of little boys by the Democrats and the media. If they agree to amnesty, they will have officially written themselves off as a political party.
I can’t believe that they are taking the advice that DEMOCRATS are giving them. That’s like Great Britain getting reassurances from Hitler before World War II.
What we need is an educational requirement.
I am confident that if we can get the Democrats to carve out a 100,000 immigrant chunk from the lebenteengazillion mexicans they want to let in i can round up that many graduate engineers ina variety of fields in India and Pakistan ~ and they will come here without families, pick tomatoes and apples for 3 to 5 years, and all for the chance to work here another 5 years as engineers and go back home.
“Compromise “ between RIGHT and WRONG.
Between GOOD and EVIL.
Yeah, that’ll work all right for us.
You are exactly right.
The so called Republicans backing immigration reform Democrat style, are in actuality Democrat insurgents in the party.
They are Democrats posing as Republicans , and should do the honorable thing and sign up with their true party.
Send their asses home. They’ll have a harder time voting from Mexico.
It would take a piece on illegal immigration for ABC to quote an analyst at Cato so extensively and so positively!
Nowrasteh is so hard core in his work that he makes specious arguments pointing to dubious statistics.
Abortion will be FREE and totally available all nine months PLUS we'll push for the right to kill a child up until the age of two... (why should a ‘mother's’ right to control her body stop with birth? ) Doesn't she have the ‘right’ NOT to have her body used as a ‘diaper changer’?
Birth control will be free to anyone over the age of 12.
Rather than selling citizenship for the future benefit of greedy politicians ( YES, that really is what ‘legalization’ is about) we'll offer to sell citizenship to the highest bidder and split the money in a LOTTO type fashion for the benefit of citizens. YES, you too can be an instant millionaire AND YOU don't have to pay for the tickets@!
Welfare? Should be for everyone who lives below the liberal elite level. We'll promise to steal - oops, I'm mean tax - 95% of the money Hollywood big shots make. Money will be distributed to the classes right beneath them. Some rich Hollywood bullsh*tter can't get a company to put in a swimming pool for him because the pool company owner is getting welfare. John Kerry and Al Gore can't live the good life because the high end workers who support THEIR lifestyle are all ‘disabled’...
We buy the MSM the same way dems do - we feed them classified information and great stories - in exchange for bias and the right to put political operatives in their ‘newsrooms’... Maybe someone who ran a Republican war room and wants to pretend they're objective - a George Stephanopoulos type. Then to make them feel good about being total sell outs, we'll institute a system of ‘prizes’ so all journalists and editors have something to hang on their wall - something that takes the place of being fair and honorable...
We can do this tobyhill... And cheating on the vote? Yeah, we can do that.... we'll vote the people who don't show up to vote - just like they do. Turn out will be a hundred percent... even if our candidates can't draw a crowd of 200 people, everyone in the precinct will show up to vote...AND then some.
Yes, we can be them - and ONE step better. If ‘better’ is the right word...
While you are being sarcastic there is a strategy that Dems used much more effectively than Republicans have related to this.
That is to put up crazy bills like this up for a vote, vote down any amendments by Dems to moderate them, and add new amendments that make it crazier, then in the end vote against it , and defeat it if you control that house.
The idea is to trick Dems into going on record voting for stupid stuff.
If they control that house the strategy is very similar although the bill may pass into law but you got a real issue then,.
I always ask :”You wanna win or you wanna whine?”
Dems win, Rs whine.
Even those here legally funnel millions of dollars back to relatives in Mexico. The only thing that is ever going to solve this problem is if a) Mexico improves its economy so its people quit leaving, or b) the US continues down its slide toward a Depression, and our economy sinks to the level of Mexico, thus ceasing to draw them in.
Not the title of this thread specifically. But creativity can work.
Democrats react to GOP-e idea that amnesty will help Republicans win:

What? What? You thought I was being sarcastic? The horror - the horror... (well, maybe a little...)
