Well, that didnt take long.
They hadnt even finished counting the ballots in Florida when House speaker John Boehner indicated that Republicans were preparing to surrender on issues ranging from taxes to health-care reform.
With regard to taxes, Boehner signaled that he was once again open to a grand bargain to avoid the looming fiscal cliff. While he kept an increase in tax rates off the table for now, Boehner said that he was open to additional revenue as part of a deal. Such additional revenue could, of course, take many forms, such as closing loopholes, raising fees, or counting on increased economic growth. But by preemptively conceding on revenue, Speaker Boehner takes the focus off the need to cut spending.
Advertisement Speaker Boehner correctly noted that everyone agrees we cant keep spending more than we take in. But that implies that the problem is simply the difference between what comes in and what goes out. Its not.
The Congressional Budget Office projects that, under current policy, federal spending will reach 46 percent of GDP by mid-century even if we never add another new government program. True, a substantial portion of that spending will be interest on the federal debt. Theoretically, therefore, if taxes were increased enough to cover spending and close the deficit, adding no additional debt, wed have far lower interest payments, meaning that total levels of government spending would be lower in the future. Lower, but not that low: Even if one

” but I think he means it.”
Of COURSE he means it. Boner is 99. 77/100 pure whore!!
” Wonder what they have on him, besides his drinking.”
Spineless whore comes to mind, Maggie.
Technically the speaker does NOT have to be a current member of Congress. Rehire Gingrich, at least he does not trip over his own feet and can articulate a position that is reliable. He has a good track record dealing with Clinton the lib. I am tired of the mamby pamby approach. Imagine a horrible situation where the Obama and Joe the jerk were killed, consider Bonehead the Jelly Fish spine running the country and having to make some tough decisions. Better put some extra Gordon’s gin in the white house bunker.
“The GOP has already thrown us under the bus.”
There was a bus? Hell, we got hit by a meteor strike from outer space. This was not just a road smear, it was a cuffing CRATER.
Pat Buchanan’s preferred tag line a few years ago was “Lock and load”. Of course, his wrath at the time was directed at Dubya, and since, either Patrick has mellowed, or the actual focus of the campaign to restore America has wandered away.
There has been scattered talk, or at least mutterings, about the possibility that the individual states may wish to secede from the United States and form a separate republic. So far, Texas and Louisiana have led the way, and have presented petitions (for what it is worth) to the whitehouse.gov website. The United States has been, for the past two and a quarter centuries, just that, except for one brief moment, 1861 to 1865. There was a war fought that postponed any legal discussion of whether an individual state could secede, but the sheer force of arms succeeded in putting that argument on hold. What was settled, apparently, was that one human being could not own another in involuntary servitude. But the question of secession itself was never addressed, nor was it ever adjudicated in any way.
I say this course of action remains an option, and that a plebescite should be held in each state, that should this particular state be retained in the union, or may it be permitted to leave? Not just as a preference, but as a binding resolution.
John Boehner is the Rodney King of the GOP!
There! I said it!
It was the Establishment GOP’ers who put this spineless twit in the seat.
He does NOT represent me, who wants a Constitutional government.
He voted FOR:
NAFTA 1993
Firearm Background Checks 1993
Stimulus Bill 2008
Military Commissions Act (the one that established ALL Americans as ‘suspects’) 2006
Don’t Ask Don’t Tell 1993
Domestic Partner Recognition in DC 1993
AND ... Voted down Seawolf Submarine Funding 1992
So, he likes spending YOUR money, making you the ‘suspect’ of any and all homegrown terrorist activity, uncharged, wants to know what guns you are buying and if you are fit to buy it, loves homosexuals (lately he has been as nutless as the head queer in charge).
I would rather have someone with the guts and brains of Gingrich, or the stalwart pugilism of Rep. King.
I consider Bonehead to be a male version of Pelosi.
Both are stupid, have no intellectual capability whatsoever, and both would be serving burgers not for the government’s creation of jobs for cretins (our congress).
Oh, both are fugly, too.
May they both die in shame and be buried in the local septic tank.
I have been in favor of secession for a long time but unfortunately it is not going to happen. Just imagine what would happen if say 13 states left: Texas, Alaska, Florida (the northern part), Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, Idaho, and Arizona. The flood gates of the producers and workers from the other states into them would be incredable. Furthermore, the exodus of the moochers and bums from them would also be large. The result would look like South Korea verses North Korea.
Has anyone ever thought, that in an instant, all of that could change, with the following ABSURD, INSANE, and FICTIONAL world, where you mix one angry American, some kind of coffee barista on the corner, and, for the sake of discussion, Mr. Boehner?
What kind of short story could that make? Would it make NCIS? Would it make Criminal Minds? Would it make The Mentalist? Or would it make the news?
Newt wasn’t afraid to wield the power of the House of Representatives, which is enormous. President Clinton said he wasn’t interested in balancing the budged in 7 years, Newt and his handpicked committee chairmen said they’d do it anyway, and he dragged worthless Bob Dole kicking and screaming along with him.
John Boehner can be forced out as Speaker of the House and a conservative can be placed in his position as Speaker of the House. Boehner does not own the position by election by the people. Caving in as he has done deserves scorn and resistance. With all the voter fraud it is incorrect to say the progressives got a mandate on any issue.
NICE!!! Coco butter...
“Technically the speaker does NOT have to be a current member of Congress.”
Speaker Allan West. Think Obama might sh*t a Miata over that?
His classic statement: “If it’s good enough for Hawaii, it’s good enough for me” says it all!!!
Michelle Bachmann played the same fiddle a little later as a follow up to Boehner’s statement, hello???
Boehner is not fit for the job. He needs to go. I don’t give a tinkers about whatever protocol there is— ditch the man, we need somebody capable!
” I say “Weepy” Boehner should just hand the house leadership over to Nancy Pelosi and just call a spade a spade.
Looks to me like this is being done as we post.
I wonder if their is such a thing as cancer of the tear ducts.
Cry tears of acid
Booze and butts, killers to all
Speaker with no balls

They are wasting their time trying to cut entitlements now with O as POTUS anyway?
What about the automatic spending cuts? Does the GOP really want to go on record by restoring that funding while cutting longer term entitlements at the same time. Party now and work later when you get old?
Dems can let all the tax cuts to expire then put up bills extending only some of them and Republicans will fold. In fact this will give the GOP cover for giving in without voting for tax increases, maybe they should have done this in late 2010 instead of now.
Will the tax increases on the rich and the automatic spending cuts be enough to put the country in recession? If so then why save Os economy?
” Boehner is a coward, period.
