Last month, as the FBI was closing in on his affair with Paula Broadwell and the political fight over Benghazi was heating up, David Petraeus made an undisclosed trip to Tripoli, Libya. The purpose of the trip, according to congressional and U.S. officials, was to examine what remained of the CIA’s presence in the country after the United States abandoned the agency’s base and nearby U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi after the Sept. 11 assassination of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.
More than two months after the Benghazi attack, congressional committees are asking for more information about the former CIA director’s trip. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, a Republican from Georgia and the vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, confirmed on Tuesday that the committee was seeking the report from Petraeus on his visit to Libya....
Thus far, the CIA has not turned over the report from Petraeus, who resigned last week after acknowledging having an adulterous affair. One Senate staffer who works on intelligence issues said the CIA has told the Senate Intelligence Committee that the agency has not yet finished processing the report.
“The CIA intends to provide its oversight committees the information they are looking for on Benghazi,” a spokesman said on Tuesday.
The Petraeus visit to Libya helps explain why both Democrats and Republicans have insisted that he testify to Congress on the Benghazi matter.

Did Davy know that the FBI knew about his affair when he went, or was he still in the dark?
Is the report a serious investigation, or is it an attempt at a whitewash sponsored by the WH?
So many questions, so few answers.
I read somewhere that Obama didn’t know that Petraeus had gone to Libya on his own (remember, Obama was trying to keep everybody out of there, and it took even the FBI weeks to get in). Supposedly, Petraeus did interviews with people there and it wasn’t just a casual look-see.
If he gave the report to the CIA, I hope he kept a back-up copy, because otherwise it will probably mysteriously disappear, whisked away by this year’s Sandy Burger.
They mean, "...has not yet finished writing the report." They need to make sure the story is write before they include and accuracies.
I think there is no way the Obama Admin wanted an independent CIA director that didn't have a string that could be pulled. I also imagine they had moles in the CIA inner circles. So when it came out that Petraeus did his own fact-finding trip to Libya, the string done got pulled.
I also believe that the Obama Admin did not tell Petraeus that they knew about the investigation. The best puppet string is one the puppet is unaware of in advance.
Just my opinion, but it fits the facts.
My prayer is that he will appear, be sworn, and completely destroy the lies this administration has been telling about Benghazi.

My prayer is the same, but, according to the reports on Foxnews last night, he was repeating the same ridiculous lies about the attack Susan Rice and Obama himself were.
Krauthammer’s idea: Obama threaten Petraeus that unless he lied about the true cause of the attack they would reveal the affair.
To prevent being exposed by Obama, Petraeus indeed lied and claimed that the attack was in response to the video.
Now that he has lied under oath and the election is over, they reveal the affair to divert attention from Obama’s crimes.
If Petraeus tells the truth now he is liable for perjury.
KRAUTHAMMER: Of course it was being held over Petraeus’s head, and the sword was lowered on Election Day. You don’t have to be a cynic to see that as the ultimate in cynicism. As long as they needed him to give the administration line to quote Bill, everybody was silent. And as soon as the election’s over, as soon as he can be dispensed with, the sword drops and he’s destroyed. I mean, can you imagine what it’s like to be on that pressure and to think it didn’t distort or at least in some way unconsciously influence his testimony? That’s hard to believe.

Now they are going to threaten him with his military pension and worse. The FBI is looking into when the affair with Broadwell started and if it was going on during the General’s time in Afghanistan.
I don’t see Petraeus as being a super hero or telling the truth about Benghazi. He didn’t go in and defend his own men. What character quality does he possess that would lead him to tell the truth about it?
