Romney reflects on his loss in call with campaign donors
LA Times ^

Posted on 11/14/2012 3:40:05 PM PST by Arthurio

Mitt Romney told his top donors Wednesday that his loss to President Obama was a disappointing result that neither he nor his top aides had expected, but said he believed his team ran a “superb” campaign with “no drama,” and attributed his rival’s victory to “the gifts” the administration had given to blacks, Hispanics and young voters during Obama’s first term.

Obama, Romney argued, had been “very generous” to blacks, Hispanics and young voters. He cited as motivating factors to young voters the administration’s plan for partial forgiveness of college loan interest and the extension of health coverage for students on their parents’ insurance plans well into their 20s. Free contraception coverage under Obama’s healthcare plan, he added, gave an extra incentive to college-age women to back the president.

Romney argued that Obama’s healthcare plan’s promise of coverage “in perpetuity” was “highly motivational” to those voters making $25,000 to $35,000 who might not have been covered, as well as to African American and Hispanic voters. Pivoting to immigration, Romney said the Obama campaign’s efforts to paint him as “anti-immigrant” had been effective and that the administration’s promise to offer what he called “amnesty” to the children of illegal immigrants had helped turn out Hispanic voters in record numbers.

“The president’s campaign,” he said, “focused on giving targeted groups a big gift — so he made a big effort on small things. Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.”

I 'cut and pasted' that post from another Freeper who sent it to me.

So, the facts speak for themselves, Palin quit her office-period.

You Palin worshippers can yap all you want about why she did it, but the fact is, she chose to give up her elected office.

She played her supporters for suckers last year when everyone was waiting for her to enter the primaries.

She will keep you guys tangling again for the next four years.

“My mistake, I thought you were being critical of my post.”

No I was copying you as an FYI - because Ansel was basically saying the same thing to me as he was to you.

For the record - I agree with your post... well put.

What is with this ‘entitlement’ mentality Mitt? You sound just like the 47%, you got caught in a private fundraiser besmirching? How many voter registration drives did you and your GOP-e establishment fund? There have been millions of new eligible voters since 2008, how many did you and your GOP-e get registered.

No Mitt you won the GOP-e nomination with the aid of OPEN GOP-e primaries. AND those liberals had no intention of voting for you come the general. Also Mitt what kind of ground game did you have in those ‘swing’ states? And Mitt what happened in Florida? It sure is not that the voters of Florida were not familiar with you. One would think the majority of voters in Florida would have shown a bit of gratitude, given how much money, you and the GOP-e infused during the bash the daylights out of Newt primary and your half baked convention.

Maybe Mitt, if the Mitt of Florida challenged Obama in the like manner you did Newt, and you saw fit to protect legal votes you got, most likely you would have won.

See Mitt, voters are people not ‘capital’, and you could not speak about your wealth accumulation because you already say your ‘business’ was no different than Obama’s bailout of the auto industry. Mitt you are the problem, fess up and face reality, you cannot hide your liberalism.

No, ‘period’ is the correct word, since there was no legimate reason to do so.

Are you denying that you were calling for abandoning the abortion discussion back in 2004, just like you are today?

Actually, I mentioned much more than just your pro-abortion postings as you troll for social liberalism.

I see that you are an old time Romney supporter from 2007, and a long time Palin hater, even right now, since Romney lost, you are going after Palin with a new vigor, this is where we see your agenda, advance and defend Romney’s liberalism, fight and denigrate Palin and tea party conservatism.

Yeah, quite a little strategy you you work with year after year.
“”I wouldn’t be surprised to see that tactic again - “let’s paint the conservative as a moderate so all the conservatives stay home.”, anybody looking at your posting history sees the same, soft massaging, always to the left, including the old ‘I’m personally pro-life, but let’s drop it from the party’ type line.

You were anti-Palin and pro-Romney in 2009, and 2011.

You were wanting to remove abortion as an issue in 2003 and 2004, as part of your anti-social conservative work here at FR.

LOL, you really are dedicated to the guy and his liberalism.

Are you hoping that Romney runs again in 2016, or are you just going to fight to keep his liberal politics alive, and front and center until you can get someone like Christie or whoever your next Romney will be?

You were wanting to take abortion off the table when you were promoting Condoleeza Rice as your favorite in 2004 and at other times, including this thread, it seems to be a strong part of your agenda.

Wow, pro-Romney, pro-Condoleeza Rice, pro-Christie, but anti-Palin and social issues. God, you liked Harriet Miers’s conservatism.

Post after post, year after year of you complaining that conservatives were “eating their own” which, when it is a constant 10 year message you have been pounding here at FR, translates to ‘leave the rinos alone’.

You even do that thing over and over where you accuse the people who are conservatives, of being democrats, I suppose that you think that is some kind of spooky trick to fool people reading your posts.

you go Ansel - did ya ever get Sarah’s attention, I bet if ya got a job you could get a car and visit one of her rallies instead of sitting around all day in you pajamas writing stories that some one probably won’t read.

You are still just cutting and pasting from previous posts, and from what I can tell you have a thing for Sarah and Obama - very weird.

I probably was Romney supporter over McCain in 2007 - I don’t remember - most probably still would be.

You are not conservative Ansel - you’re just acting like it.

And again no, I speak of priorities not policy. Your interpretation of my snippets is typical lib hogwash, but I am flattered you read them - maybe you’ll learn something.

If you are going to post my writings (I thank you) please post the context as well.

Yes you are an old liberal romneybot from 2007, and then still supporting him in 2009 and 2010 as you attacked the conservative Palin,. Your role is as one of those under the radar, play it soft, trolls.

Yes you were pro-Romney, pro-Condoleeza Rice, pro-Christie, but anti-Palin and anti-social issues. You even liked Harriet Miers’s conservatism.

Even when the disaster called Romney lost to Carter’s second term you want to proclaim him as the right man, the right republican, “”Romney ran a great campaign, it was solid on the issues and energized the base with record crowds.””

I wonder which rino will be your next hero.

” translates to ‘leave the rinos alone’.”

Your translating messages now ?

“You even do that thing over and over where you accuse the people who are conservatives, of being democrats”

Your not a democrat, you post like an out an out liberal - who won’t post anything bad about any liberal policy. You just troll around calling people trolls and rinos.

I thought all the lib blog attackers would go away after the election.... What country are you posting from ?

If you are conservative, then you agree with my post 18.

“”Romney was terrible on the issues, rejecting the party platform on abortion and homosexuality was not a good thing.””

But you don’t agree that Romney rejecting the party platform on abortion and homosexuality was not a good thing, do you?

In fact you believe the opposite, you support his rejecting of the party platform on those issues, which we have to assume means you want them removed for 2016, and forever, this matches your past posts over the years trying to get republicans to quit defending life in elections.
