Jill Kelley, Key Figure In David Petraeus Scandal, Led Lavish Life

Jill Kelley, Key Figure In David Petraeus Scandal, Led Lavish Life The Tampa, Fla., socialite cultivated ties with military leaders and obtained honorary titles. She also has had financial troubles.

Jill Kelley's license plate carries an emblem that reads “Honorary Consul.” Gen. David H. Petraeus helped her obtain that title from South Korea. By Shashank Bengali, David S. Cloud and Joseph Tanfani November 14, 2012

TAMPA, Fla. — When Jill Kelley believed a reporter was trespassing at her white-columned mansion in a wealthy neighborhood this week, the Tampa socialite called 911 and claimed diplomatic immunity.

"I'm an honorary consul general, so I have inviolability," an exasperated Kelley told the dispatcher in recordings released by police. "I don't know if you want to get diplomatic protection involved as well."

Kelley isn't a diplomat; she holds the ceremonial title of "honorary consul" for South Korea, one of many informal ties to prestige and power that the energetic 37-year-old mother of three has brandished to climb to the top rungs of the social ladder in this conservative military community.

Kelley, the wife of a cancer surgeon, has a thin resume, a troubled family, shaky finances and a reputation for being, as one acquaintance here put it, "Tampa Kardashian." Now she is central to an unfolding scandal that has forced out David H. Petraeus as CIA director, threatens the career of Marine Gen. John Allen, commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, and cast previously unknown figures and a sex affair into international notoriety.

Maybe her lawyer can get her into that Club Fed prison that Martha Stewart went to.

I’m not sure what is more depressing - people like her, or a society and culture that allows people like her to rise to positions of influence and power.

With her empty resume, bizarre behavior, and delusional mindset, how did powerful men like Petraeus and Allen ever allow themselves to be associated with her?

Four star generals are today’s proconsuls. You wouldn’t get within ten feet of one if you were a private or even a Captain. Yet this woman becomes a confidant of some of the most powerful men on the planet and even has them coming to her doorstep on a regular basis.

Most of us wouldn’t want to associate with such an airhead. What the hell is going on in these generals’ minds?

One thing good about the Kardashians is, we now have the precise adjective to describe people like Kelley

Absolutely.

Unfortunately, salacious stories sell more papers and attract more eyeballs, than serious ones.

Frankly, I think the Generals we have had, the wars we have recently fought, and so on have been full of corruption, but the MSM covers up most of it simply because they also cover up for an incompetent commander in chief who credits himself for something that gives the sweat, blood, filth, and even lives of honest Americans who serve in the Armed Forces. I feel sad, and honestly disappointed at how insincere our commanding officers and politicians have become on these recent wars, and under the Obama administration.

I pray and hope for the best regarding our current servicemen and servicewomen, and honestly don’t look forward myself to ever serving in the armed forces anytime soon, sadly enough.

As far as the Generals’ Minds, believe me that when you really aren’t in it, and succumb to personal selfishness, adultery looks like icing on the top of a cake.

To me, the more obvious question is how did these prima donnas get to be generals?

Married to “cancer surgeon,” and yet she’s a trollop.

I have no explanation how she and her twin managed to get cozy with our nation’s top brass, aside perhaps from first meeting them at charity functions for the military?

Extremely poor judgement was exercised by both General’s Petraus and Allen and by General P.’s wife too, for cultivating personal friendship’s with this Jill and her husband.

When it comes to making new, close friends, due caution is always necessary and military’s high brass should stick with its own for several reasons. As CIA Director, the General should have checked out every ‘new close’ friend.
