Barbara Bush: "People spoke. Move on, get on with it. I want to do other things and not to be ugly."

(Reuters) - Former U.S. first lady Barbara Bush said on Thursday that she's ready to move beyond this year's campaign season, in comments that came at an Austin conference the week after President Barack Obama's re-election.

"I'm tired now of the elections," Bush, who had endorsed Republican Mitt Romney, said at a forum on America's first ladies. "People spoke. Move on, get on with it. I want to do other things and not to be ugly."

Our side isn't going to get ugly Barbara, but we aren't going to submit to all the fleecing and thuggery which ObaMao's people will demand. It was they who voted for a coarser more brutal country. Not our side.

The entire Bush mafia needs to exit stage left. They trashed her son for 4 years and this is the best she can say?

I’m so sick of all these people.

No more Bushes...ever. “P” was on CNBC campaigning for some office in Texas already, just like his carpet bagger grandfather did. Sorry. Texas Republicans have moved on, Babs. We elected Ted Cruz, a TEA Party Senator, and we have no further use for Bushes.

You are correct. But I am not sure what is meant by “ugly”. I don’t think we should get violent but I do believe we need to be more assertive, get in their faces and refuse to go along with policies that destroy this country. There is no moving on. We need to rebel and muck up the works best we can. Maybe that is being ugly. If so I really don’t give a damn.

Voting for her son was certainly a huge mistake. The whole family should shut up, go away and take Rove and the rest of the “progressive” and socialist republicans with them.

>>Move on, get on with it.

Get on with what? Watching our jobs disappear. Being taxed into poverty and then having the same government offer us “subisides” so we can afford to live—as long as we get in line and behave like good serfs? Get on with government control of our health care? Do we just “get on” with an economy that expects half of us to work like slaves so the other half can live off the fruits of our labor?

Voting for her husband, and her son twice was what we all had to put up with, like Bob Dolt, GWB twice, Rommunie, McScream, just to try to keep the communists out. It was all we had. And, if THAT is the best the RINOs can produce, we are finished. Oh, my bad, we are already finished.

Bush, sporting a double strand of her signature pearls, joined former first lady Laura Bush on a panel for the Enduring Legacies of America’s First Ladies conference at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library.

The first ladies avoided offering political opinions, but Barbara Bush did issue a stern warning to both Republicans and Democrats.

“They are going to have to compromise,” said Barbara Bush, the wife of former President George H.W. Bush. “It’s not a dirty word.”

No she isn’t...her public comments were inappropriate to say the least. He son would have been better served to make some ‘public comments’ of his own that actually put some perspective on why he deserted his former Presidency.

If you can’t see that, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Barbara Bush and the rest of her family pimped the gop for their own enrichment.

These are the Bushes. They have plenty of connections. They have money and could get more easily.

They were ambitious. Most politicians are. They made mistakes. Most politicians do. But I don't see any evidence of their "pimping" anyone or any thing "for their own enrichment."

What Barbara Bush is saying is that she's sick of the election and she's glad it's behind us. Most Americans probably feel the same way. There's no need to insult the woman for expressing it.

Correct. There are lots of non-violent ways of resisting the regime. The “pretend to be allies” method of Oskar Schindler was one way. The “work behind the scenes” method of Corrie Ten Boom was another. Sooner or later, this regime is going to fall. It is just a question of how much damage and suffering it will inflict before that happens.

Mrs. Bush, your husband compromising with the Demos on taxes against his “read my lips” pledge really did him a world of good, didn’t it? I always thought the Bush family was just too happy to hear what my Demo friends say — that your husband is just a very nice gentleman for a Republican, what they don’t say is that they really liked the fact that unlike Reagan, he was almost totally ineffectual.

No she is a completely appropriate target. SHE injected herself and told US to shut up and not be ugly. She could have filled her role and discussed her favorite Thanksgiving recipes or something.

But she decided to tell us to leave Obama alone and agree to an agenda her family also is fine with. No kid gloves for Babs. If she can’t take our response, then she needs to stay out of it.

But no one sided battle where she hits us all she wants, but we are forbidden to note that the old leftist biddy sits very wealthy, happily protected, and never has to worry about finding a job or paying bills, or getting in line for Obamacare. She will ALWAYS have first class medical care.

She’s not senile. Shes lucid, and an establishment leftist.

At least Sarah Palin was elected governor of a large State. Before Reagan selected her husband as VP, GHW Bush had never won any statewide office in an election, only a safe House seat in the most Reublican district in Texas. He would have had no further political career other than through Reagan — geting elected President on a Reagan third term campaign and then disparaging all the themes that made RR one of our best preidents. When he backed off Reagan, he ended up getting all of 38 percent of the vote for reelection as president in 1992, less than Barry Goldwater in 1964.
