The name given be US. New Normal, New World Order, Insanity? Hardly Wait, hunker down here with friends. There is not one shot our side has fired which hit its mark (taking a cue from your tag). Someone is calling up the ranks, none of us yet has begun to fight. Yes what you say is true .... We will be there soon. We already have a modern nero as president. Has each of US wondered what happens when you, others, and I are no longer the few? Will be a glorious day. Be not downtrodden and think we will lose. Hanson got a few of his facts wrong, but the essential thrust of his article is completely accurate and he is the only one I’ve heard say this. The entire government and electorate has become foolish and frivolous to a level probably unequaled since the worst days of declining Rome or perhaps the French court - or the nearest African sh*thole.
Why were people at the top of levels of our military and government even in contact with two flaky, vicious, unstable celebrity hounds, inviting them into their inner circles, letting them influence policy, becoming involved In the personal lives of the pair to the point where it must have distracted them from their jobs, letting themselves be used as a stage for the psychodrama of these two power groupies, grateful for being put into contact through them with even faded celebrities, and, in short, acting with such utter frivolity and irresponsibility that in a same society they would all be court-martialled or fired or impeached and imprisoned because of the contempt they are showing towards their responsibilities and their country.
A fish rots from the head, and it is definitely Obama who has brought us to this pass in the immediate sense; but it couldn’t have happened without an electorate and a society that is willing to ignore or accept and even admire this behavior. But it’s unsustainable, and it will come crashing down, as it always has in the past.
The feelings and thoughts I’ve had since Election Day are like none I’ve ever had.
As Hanson says- nothing seems real. The “if” in “if, then..” has vaporized. There is nothing solid anywhere- there is no constant, no reliable place to say, well at least THAT is still there. I am disoriented and overwhelmed, although I function and work and my life goes on as does everyone’s, but the certainty in my heart of what it means to be an American citizen has gone.
What makes you think that they will implement Obamacare? I’ll wager that they will keep pushing its start date down the road and keep collecting the taxes.
Please tell me, what were the few facts that Hanson got wrong?
Good post. I had ancestors who were murdered by Kansas Redlegs in Missouri and Union Home Guard in Eastern KY - yet we only hear stories of how “Evil” the Southerners were. I currently feel like an outcast to the current USA. Is this how my ancestors felt before they were slaughtered for no good reason?

We’re in the era of more clowns than paying audience. Portions of the country are already saying “no more” but most likely the result will be divorce, not resolution.
