I’d support her if she was on the ticket. She’s consevative ... infact make it a Rubio/ Martinez ticket and make the idiots head explode at MSNBC.

I’m surprised but apparently you’re right. 46% Hispanic and 40% white.

There is nothing conservative about the statements she made here. Just more crypto-Marxist ‘diversity’ blather.

Sorry, Governor, but shouldn’t voters vote on what is Costitional, rather than “who they look like”?
You made an impressive speech at the convention, please live up to it, or we will all be subjects of the “leader”, regardless of what party.

I, for one, will never play the game of nominating candidates based on race or ethnicity.

We have to start electing people who look like their communities

THAT is NOT a conservative policy position .. it's simply more baldfaced race pandering in the service of vote pandering !

Gutlessness like that is why the right keeps losing .. and why we're on the verge of losing OUR Constitution, and with it OUR country !

If you need further clues, gargle 'merit promotion'.

glad to help

“61% of Hispanics voted AGAINST her when she ran for governor in 2010.”

Good point. Obviously if white New Mexicans who put her in office followed Martinez racially biased advise she would not now be governor and her white Dem opponent would be in office pandering to the needs of the 47%.

I thought the agreed line was that our armed forces won all the wars but our politicians lost them. Isn’t that the narrative?

My community looks like Americans......don’t care if they’re of Italian, Irish, Spanish, Greek, etc. heritage as long as they pledge allegance SOLELY to the United States of America, they followed the laws of the land and they assimilate into the American culture vs forcing culture of another country on neighbors. If my fellow community neighbors celebrate the customs of their heritage in their own homes that’s fine; don’t try to do away with American customs.

It would be nice to have leaders with the courage to say hypenated nationalities are no longer acceptable. We are AMERICANS period! We’d all be from the same community!

Mrs. Martinez’ comment is very disappointing. She gave a great speech at the Convention. And, now, like Jindal and Christie she throws fellow Republican under the bus. Democrats don’t do this! I’ve called Jindal’s office and now I’ll call Martinez’ office......and the RNC...get a grip on these Republicans and, btw, Mr. Priebus, subtract one from the GOP roll. I’m disgusted with all of them.

good question

anyone that remains in or donates to the republican party is part of the problem not part of the solution

I HOPE that the next round of amnesty is the LAST one we have. Close ALL the loopholes, stop all the automatic babies, etc. and if you are not in line, you are illegal and laws apply to you and who hires you.

IF immigration worked, we’d have everything English on legal books and the variety of those admitted would equal out better. Amnesty has paralyzed America to it’s demise.

Once benefits of the entitlements are slashed there will be an outpouring of grief in Biblical proportions.

[[ “We have to start electing people who look like their communities...”
Unabashed bigotry. ]]

And how many, right here in this forum, were advocating Ms. Martinez as a potential vice presidential candidate?

“being nativist in the face of the current demographics is a losing game.
GOP won’t win with just the old white guy vote, except maybe out in elvis country.
Just say’in.”

Down in Mississippi, there is a “minority population” that numbers something like 35-40%. Yet Republicans still win -there-.

Why is that?
Answer:
In Mississippi, 89% of Euros voted for Romney
In Alabama 84% of Euros voted for Romney.

If it works in Mississippi and Alabama, why can’t the same strategy work elsewhere for Euros?

Just say’in...

“The majority of New Mexicans are white. Take Martinez’ advice and elect white people from now on.”

No, they are not.

New Mexico, like California, has become the second state in which Euros are officially now “a minority”.

It really does not make any difference what Republican policies are or what color the candidates are. The press is against us. We need to convert or at least improve the press.

True.

I think the only things that might bring the press back to reality are a total financial and societal collapse brought about by Obama's policies or a nuclear attack.

"Martinez was saying is that the GOP needs to expand its base, which it does need to do."

We are, and have been, in a propaganda war. I've listened to Suzanna Martinez and wondered why all the talk about Rubio and so little about Martinez. I also agree with all US senators who, in 2008, signed Senate Res 511 agreeing that a natural born citizen is born to US citizen parents, which is true of Martinez, but not Rubio, or Obama.

Part of the Alinsky doctrine recognizes the importance of ideological division. With a voting system controlled by the left (St. Lucie county is but one of thousands of examples, and only coming to the fore because Col West is willing to fight the corruption), we must realize that votes counted by the enemy should be taken lightly. These attacks on strong conservatives are insidious, and mostly, designed to divide. The voting system is thoroughly corrupt, and completely lacking any audit trail. There are more conservatives than progressive Marxists. We must find out how to regain representation, which will require fixing our voting systems. Today our remedies are for imagined problems because, much as the public assumes that elections have meaning, the only meaning they have is in the supposed counts published by those controlling the elections, in California's case, the SEIU, in St. Lucie, by a progressive black nationalist for whom the end justifies the means.

I HOPE that the next round of amnesty is the LAST one we have.

You should be aware that ICE is still processing immigrants resulting from the 1986 amnesty.

Thanks to Teddy Kennedy, our immigration laws now contain a provision for "chain immigration", whereby any immigrant citizen may apply to bring his "immediate" family into the country. "Immediate" includes fathers, mothers, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, brothers, sisters, etc.. Each of them then have the right to invite their immediate family into the country -- so we end up with the cousins, aunts and uncles, as well.

The beneficiaries of any amnesty now will enjoy the same right of chain immigration. In other words, it won't be "15 million" -- it will be 50 million.

Republicans lose when they play the Democrat race/gender game. And you are right—it doesn’t make any difference what their policies are when they have to fight a war on two fronts—against the Democrat Party and the media.

Re: “Demanding deportation serves no useful purpose”

Strongly disagree, Lou.

First, wages and benefits will improve, working conditions will improve, and the number of open low skill jobs will increase.

Two, the alternative is Green Cards and eventually citizenship for the illegal 12 million.

Did you know first generation Hispanics vote 80% for the Democrat Party?

By the way, did you notice my Comment #1?

61% of Hispanics voted AGAINST Gov. Martinez in 2010!

And Conservatives are supposed to take her political advice about attracting Hispanic voters?
