'Gifts': 2016 Frontrunners Already Caving to Media
Big Journalism ^ | November 18, 2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 11/18/2012 5:29:40 PM PST by Bratch

Late last week, in a conference call with donors, Governor Mitt Romney said what we all know to be the truth: that Obama's reelection plan was to divide Americans across various lines and dole out government freebies, such as health insurance, amnesty, and birth control. The promise of these "gifts" (or the fear of losing them) would then drive out turnout, specifically among those who did turn out: blacks, students, and Hispanics -- and lo and behold, it worked.

For days now, Romney's been blistered by the media for telling a truth about a political tactic that the media itself declared as smart politics in real-time as Obama practiced it. I guess the lesson is that practicing divisive politics with the use of taxpayer-funded freebies is okay, but pointing it out is racist.

[...]

Whatever.

What should worry us, though, is that some of the men who seek to carry our flag into 2016 have jumped aboard this Nonsense Train with both feet. At differing levels of indignation, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, and Marco Rubio have all publicly criticized Romney for telling this truth.

Speaking only for myself, let me just say that if this is the first step these men are taking towards a 2016 White House bid -- I'm not impressed. Attacking a man for telling what we all know is the truth, is political cowardice. Tactically, though, it's just dumb, and dumb will not win the White House in 2016.

Rubio is awful. Charismatic, charming, Latino. What has he done to protect and defend the Constitution? I HVE seen him championing the UN and ther’s a picture of him with “Socialite” Jill kelley and Co. Or Broadwell, whoever of that crew.

He is not . . .

Oh, well.

I agree. I’m very disappointed in this from the GOP. Considering these are people who were all for Romney, throwing him under the bus for stating the ugly truth is just low.

I don’t like Senators or Representatives as Presidential candidates anyway.

Little or no administrative experience.

All I can say is this, hopefully people try, but with voter fraud, a rising generation that cares more for a distorted caricature of history as opposed to some of the very real flaws that existed, and simply stubbornly want to believe and preach the leftist mantras, then have no problem simply committing voter fraud to overrepresent themselves, the time is really looming where people will either cave to go and play like those who have the apparent mortal power (arms, membership, political popularity, celebrity buzz) or try sticking to the basic principles of Christ, continuing to give truth to his name, continuing to encourage his principles. The virtues of Jesus Christ are now pretty much firmly out of the picture, it’s all a question now for whomever has a sense of virtue to either abandon it, or stick with it and consider the kind of rewards that Jesus promised.

Got back from the cleanups with my volunteering with the Catholic Charities this past weekend, paints a far better picture, and gives me some hope for the future, aside from the awfully corrupt political picture.

Rubio is not natural born, thus not eligible for the Presidency or Vice Presidency.

It is time for a new conservative party, and the GOP can go the way of the Whigs.

This was the most important election of our lifetimes, and they blew it mightily. Now, they want to blame conservatives, when it was their complete squishy-ness that voters rejected.

Like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown, now the battle cry will be—we have to win the Senate and hold the House in 2014. For what? For Boehner and McConnell to give it away?

The GOP gave us Obama—twice. That cannot be forgotten nor forgiven. Time to throw them on the trash heap of history, form a new party and salvage what we can of America before it is too late.

let me just say that if this is the first step these men

And then it's a second and third step and then it's 'he's the only one who can...'.

Obviously these guys believe in free gifts. I could care less but to backstab after the election - these guys exposed who/what they really are, IMO.

Oh don’t worry about it. They simply want two Democrat parties instead of just the miserable tax, borrow and spend one we have now!!!

I have a feeling that the GOP will pick Rubio.

we are in deep trouble with his views on taxes, immigration and being Jeb Bush's pick anyway..If he were a true conservative, we've have a winner. Why are they going moderate safe after a crushing defeat to a Marxist leader. (head to desk)

[Just saw this online:]

Romney was technically correct in his statement that 47% pay no income tax. He was strategically incorrect by saying that he’s “not concerned about them.” What he should have said is something like this: “Unlike the President, who appears to be SO UNCONCERNED with 47% of our population that he wants to keep them dependent on the other 53% who pay income tax, I want to offer that 47% the kind of helping hand they are actually crying for, but to which the President remains deaf: they are crying to be self-reliant! They are asking for their dignity back by means of productive work in the private sector where they are beholden to no one but themselves and the markets they serve! Our President said that he wants to “transform America.” I want to transform AMERICANS: from dependent to independent. From VICTIM to VICTOR.”

[Just wondering if that would have been a more politic way of phrasing the same truth.]

Yes, the New Yorders (TriStaters) are handily adept at managing weather and at helping neighbors and strangers.

They think on an individual basis and are not real great, tight now, at following tenets of religion, but are, by default, giving into a controlling rule heavy government. They don’t see that.

But they do very well in emergency situations. It’s in their regional ancestry. One has to see it to understand it, as these guys have such a bad reputation for being rude, in man ways deserved.

but the Constitution is there for us. So it’s simple. Nothing has to be reinvented.

Totally agree with you. It has been downhill since George Herbert Walker Bush’s first and final inauguration. More than two decades of decline.

I think they are thinking that you can’t get a loser’s vote that wants stuff for free by telling them, “YOU ARE A LOSER THAT WANTS STUFF FOR FREE AND ARE A BIG PART OF OUR PROBLEM”.

So what is their solution then to this?
Should be to limit the saftey net programs to all but the elderly and disabled, the rest have to be short term.
We also need to greatly reduce government employees and their costs to the taxpayer.

Again, since unions give billions upon billions to Democrats every two years for elections, how are we supposed to defeat THAT without calling it what it is? “An exchange of donations for extreme pay and benefits”...

Then you have the teacher’s union and professors at colleges from Junior colleges up brainwashing the kids into voting for bonds, props and Presidents that are disasters for our country and budget. So what is the answer to dealing with that without calling that what it is?

COME ON>>>> This is retarded IMO.

Rubio knows that the GOP-e will DESTROY any Conservative who stands on Principle, and like so many others, caves in to get Funding.

The ONLY ones who have stood up to the GOP-e seem to be Sarah Palin and Herman Caine.....and you KNOW how they were assaulted and pummeled by the State-Run-Media, AND the GOP-e, and that's because they FEAR Conservatives rising up and telling it like it is. I've already seen Bobby Jindal jumping the shark, to avoid being attacked.

Yes. Allen West is a REAL black man who would charge hell with a bucket of water. - Some have said he wasn’t “ready” to be President, not experienced enough . . . and the sorta black(ish) man we’re stuck with IS “ready”, IS “experienced”? I’m gonna donate to West’s recount effort. He did the right thing; who can fight boxes of ballots “suddenly” being accidentally found here and there?

If we can no longer have faith that our elections are at least largely honest, then what have we left? Nothing.
